Charles Dance Joins The Batman Part II Cast As Harvey Dent Family Rumors Grow

The Batman Part II has added another major name to the cast, as Deadline reports Charles Dance is in talks to join Matt Reeves’ DC sequel starring Robert Pattinson.

If the deal closes, the Game of Thrones actor will head to Gotham for what looks like another key role tied to the Dent family.

Dance is best known to genre fans for playing Tywin Lannister, so he brings the kind of gravitas that fits right into Reeves’ grounded Gotham. DC Studios had no comment on the report.

Charles Dance Reportedly Eyed As Charles Dent

While not officially confirmed, the belief is that Dance would play Charles Dent, the father of Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent. The character has previously been rumored to be a part of the sequel.

That would put Dance alongside Sebastian Stan, who has been linked to Harvey Dent, and Scarlett Johansson, who has been reported to be Dent’s wife.

If true, it means Reeves may be building out the Dent side of Gotham in a much bigger way than expected. Harvey Dent is one of the most important figures in Batman lore, so bringing in his family suggests the sequel could be laying the groundwork for something bigger, darker, and more personal. That also fits with what has already been teased about the movie taking a different path from the first film.

Reeves Keeps Expanding Gotham

The casting also keeps the momentum going for The Batman Part II following recent comments from Pattinson and Colin Farrell praising the script.

Pattinson recently said the script is “extraordinary” and called the movie “very, very different,” while Farrell described it as a “masterwork.”

Production Still Set For This Spring

According to the trade reports, The Batman Part II is still expected to start production in spring 2026 and remains dated for October 1, 2027.

Matt Reeves is directing and co-writing, with DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran producing alongside Dylan Clark. Andy Serkis is also confirmed back as Alfred.
