Amazon MGM Studios is keeping Project Hail Mary in theaters longer.
During CinemaCon on Wednesday night, Ryan Gosling joined directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller on stage to celebrate the movie, which has now crossed $525 million worldwide.
Gosling thanked theater owners for helping deliver the film to audiences and even handed out flowers in a show of appreciation.
Ryan Gosling Thanks Theater Owners
Gosling used the CinemaCon appearance to spotlight the role theaters played in the movie’s success.
While on stage, he shouted out cities around the world and thanked exhibitors directly for distributing the film.
In a light moment, Gosling also gave a thank-you note to a woman in the crowd, and it was passed around for others to read.

Project Hail Mary Passes $525 Million
Crossing $525 million is a major result for the sci-fi movie and gives Amazon even more reason to keep it on the big screen.
Instead of rushing the film out of theaters, the studio is now extending its exclusive theatrical window. That means Project Hail Mary will remain a theatrical-first release for longer before making the jump elsewhere.
For theater owners, it is another sign that the movie still has legs.
About the movie
Project Hail Mary is a sci-fi film based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel. The story follows Ryland Grace, a former schoolteacher turned scientist who wakes up alone on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or why he has been sent into deep space. As his memory returns, he realizes he is on a last-chance mission to save Earth from a global extinction-level threat.
The movie is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the filmmaking duo known for the Spider-Verse movies, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, and The LEGO Movie.
Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace. The cast also includes Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and James Ortiz.
