Longtime Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer is now casting doubt on the rumor that the next film will focus on Jack Sparrow’s son.
The rumor said the new flick will focus on his son as the lead character and feature Margot Robbie.

Jerry Bruckheimer responds
Speaking with ET Online, Bruckheimer was asked directly about the report claiming Pirates of the Caribbean 6 would center on Sparrow’s son and introduce a new character played by Margot Robbie.
“They’re close on part of it. That’s all I’ll tell you,” Bruckheimer responded.
When pressed specifically about Robbie’s involvement and whether discussions had taken place, Bruckheimer confirmed, “We have talked to her.”
It’s previously been reported that Robbie was attached to an earlier version of the script that was said to focus on female pirates. That version was believed to have either been scrapped or merged into the current draft now in development.
ET then suggested that perhaps the Margot Robbie portion of the rumor is accurate, but not the Jack Sparrow’s son angle.
“I think you’re going up the right road,” Bruckheimer replied.
Notably, when ET mentioned that it would be exciting to see Robbie appear alongside Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Bruckheimer did not directly respond.

What This Could Mean
Based on Bruckheimer’s comments, the Jack Sparrow’s son storyline may not be part of the current plan.
Instead, the stronger possibility appears to be that Margot Robbie is indeed involved in the new film, potentially alongside Johnny Depp, should he return as Captain Jack.
Bruckheimer previously said Depp would return if he likes the script.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, this latest update suggests Disney’s pirate revival may be leaning more toward a blend of legacy characters and Robbie’s role, rather than a generational handoff centered on Sparrow’s son.
