Shang-Chi is getting a new look in Avengers: Doomsday, and Simu Liu says fans should expect something noticeably different this time around.
While speaking about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Liu confirmed that Shang-Chi’s suit has been redesigned for the upcoming Avengers film.
“It’s a completely different suit that fit on me very differently,” Liu said, via X.

A New Direction For Shang-Chi
Liu didn’t reveal details about the suit’s design or how it differs visually, but the comment suggests a significant departure from the outfit introduced in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
That film established Shang-Chi’s look as both traditional and grounded in his family legacy, so a new suit could reflect how the character has evolved since then.
With Avengers: Doomsday expected to bring together multiple corners of the MCU, Shang-Chi’s updated suit may also signal a shift in his role within the larger Marvel universe.

What It Could Mean For Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel has kept plot details under wraps, but rumors surrounding Avengers: Doomsday suggest the film could dramatically reshape the MCU going forward.
A redesigned suit often accompanies a character’s growth, higher stakes, or a major turning point, something Marvel has done repeatedly with characters like Iron Man, Captain America, and Spider-Man.
For Shang-Chi, the new suit could hint at bigger responsibilities, new powers, or a darker direction as the MCU heads toward its next major crossover event.
