Netflix Warner Bros. acquisition news rolled into inboxes today as the streamer sent a mass email to all subscribers following its winning bid to buy Warner Bros.
The message outlines what’s happening now, what isn’t changing yet, and what the combined libraries could eventually mean.

Netflix Confirms the Deal and Teases the Combined Franchises
Netflix highlighted that the acquisition pulls Warner Bros.’ massive catalog under its umbrella, calling out Harry Potter, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Casablanca, Game of Thrones, and DC—now sitting alongside Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, Bridgerton, and K-Pop Demon Hunters.
The email frames the buyout as a merger of “iconic stories” and an expansion of Netflix’s entertainment slate across film, television, games, and live programming.
What Netflix Says Happens Now
According to Netflix, nothing is changing today. Netflix and HBO Max will continue operating as separate services while the companies move through regulatory and shareholder approvals. They promise to update users once the deal is officially closed.
The message also reassures subscribers their current membership will stay the same for now, signaling no immediate price or platform changes.
Netflix Tries to Calm Subscriber Concerns
The email acknowledges that subscribers will have questions, pointing them to the Help Center. The company ends by emphasizing its commitment to delivering more content across all formats, clearly trying to keep users steady while the industry braces for what will be the biggest entertainment shake-up in decades.
Its “Help Section” adds that Netflix and Warner Bros. — including HBO and HBO Max — will continue to operate separately until the deal closes in 12–18 months, so memberships, prices, watch histories, and content libraries stay the same.
Subscribers won’t get HBO Max access on Netflix yet, and Warner Bros. titles won’t move over until after regulatory and shareholder approvals. Netflix says to check the Help Center or its newsroom for future updates.
