He-Man 'Masters of the Universe Movie' Shows Off Snake Mountain Concept Art

A piece of concept art for Masters of the Universe has been released online, offering fans their first detailed look at Snake Mountain, the infamous stronghold of Skeletor.

The image—shown as part of a presentation during Brand Licensing Europe—reveals a twisted, volcanic mountain fortress shaped like a monstrous serpent, glowing with molten energy. It’s an ominous and imposing design that draws heavily from classic depictions while dialing up the scale and menace for the big screen.

Presented at Brand Licensing Europe

During the “A Legend Reborn: Reimagining Masters of the Universe” keynote panel (via He-Mania.com), Mattel’s Ruth Henriquez and Amazon MGM Studios’ Greg Coleman discussed the strategy behind the film’s revival and shared the Snake Mountain artwork with industry attendees. They emphasized that the movie is meant to be epic in scope and true to the spirit of the franchise while also bringing in a broad audience with a grounded origin story.

Henriquez explained that now is the right time for a Masters of the Universe revival because the brand has continued to evolve over the years and never truly disappeared. According to Coleman, creating a film of this magnitude takes serious effort, and they’ve been waiting for the right creative team to make it happen—highlighting director Travis Knight and what he called a “full dimensional cast.”

Story, Characters, and Skeletor

The film will center on Prince Adam as he discovers the power within and learns of his royal lineage. The presentation made it clear this is designed to work as a standalone origin story for new viewers, while still rewarding longtime fans with Easter eggs and familiar elements. Coleman singled out Skeletor as one of the “most delicious villains of all time” and noted how the contrast between Adam and Skeletor drives the film’s story.

Coleman also pointed out that the sets and level of detail are “out of this world,” and the Snake Mountain concept art backs up that claim. The image shows a surreal, jagged mountain structure shaped into a snarling, fanged beast with glowing lava pouring from its mouth, giving off a hellish glow that reinforces the threat of Skeletor’s domain.

Amazon and Mattel’s Bigger Picture

The presentation also highlighted how Masters of the Universe fits into Amazon’s broader strategy.

Coleman said it’s a film that will benefit from a theatrical release experience, but that Prime Video will allow audiences to revisit key moments again and again. The idea is to create a cultural event, not just a one-off movie—something that includes toys, merchandise, and a long shelf life, similar to what Mattel achieved with Barbie.
