Zack Snyder is keeping the Justice League teases going, this time by spotlighting Wayne T. Carr’s scrapped Green Lantern.
Snyder shared new images of Carr as John Stewart, giving fans another look at the Green Lantern who was originally planned for Zack Snyder’s Justice League before the scene was changed.
The timing is also impossible to ignore. The post comes as DC fans are already debating HBO’s new Lanterns teaser, which has taken heat for looking too grounded and not green enough for a Green Lantern series.
Zack Snyder Shares Wayne T. Carr As John Stewart
Snyder posted the images on Instagram, showing Carr suited up as John Stewart with a full green glow and another behind-the-scenes shot with Snyder on set.
“@waynetcarr as John Stewart. A hero we planned to bring into the Justice League story. Some paths remain unseen… but the green glow is still out there,” Snyder wrote.
Carr responded in the comments, “It was a dream come true! In so many ways! Big love to you brotha!”
Fans quickly jumped on the post, with SnyderVerse supporters once again calling for Carr’s Green Lantern to return.
The Green Lantern Scene Fans Never Got
Carr filmed a scene as John Stewart for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but the character did not make it into the final version released on HBO Max.
The scene would have introduced Stewart at the end of the movie, setting him up as part of Snyder’s larger Justice League story. Instead, the final cut used Martian Manhunter, played by Harry Lennix.
For SnyderVerse fans, Carr’s John Stewart has become one of the biggest “what if” pieces of the unfinished DC plan. He never got a full movie, a spinoff, or even an official scene in the finished release, but every new image keeps that version alive with fans.
The Timing Stands Out After Lanterns Backlash
The post also lands right after the first Lanterns teaser sparked backlash online.
Fans complained that the HBO series looked too much like a grounded detective drama and not enough like Green Lantern. The biggest complaint was the lack of bright green energy, ring powers, cosmic spectacle, and comic book visuals.
Snyder’s images show the opposite. Carr’s John Stewart is covered in green light, standing in the kind of superhero imagery fans usually expect from the character.
Snyder did not mention Lanterns or James Gunn’s DCU, but the contrast was obvious enough for fans to notice.
Justice League Teases Continue
Snyder has been posting new Justice League images and behind-the-scenes material as interest around the SnyderVerse continues to bubble online.
Recent posts have put the spotlight back on his DC cast, including the characters and storylines that never got to continue after Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
The Wayne T. Carr images fit right into that pattern. They are not an official announcement, and there is no sign DC Studios is bringing Snyder’s Green Lantern back. Still, the post gives fans another reminder of what Snyder had planned before Warner Bros. moved in a different direction.
The Green Glow Is Still Out There
Snyder’s caption is what will get fans talking the most.
By saying “the green glow is still out there,” Snyder left just enough mystery for fans to run with it, even if the post is more likely a tribute than a tease of anything official.
For Wayne T. Carr, it is another moment of recognition for a role he filmed but never got to fully share with audiences. For SnyderVerse fans, it is another reason to keep talking about the Justice League story that never got finished.
