Zack Snyder is keeping the Justice League teases going, and now he has brought back his Green Lantern.
Snyder posted new images of Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart and wrote, “@waynetcarr as John Stewart. A hero we planned to bring into the Justice League story. Some paths remain unseen… but the green glow is still out there.”
What stands out most is the line itself. Snyder is not only sharing a never-fully-realized piece of his Justice League plans. He is also framing it as something unfinished still lingering in the background.
Zack Snyder brings back the Green Lantern talk
The new post puts the spotlight back on Snyder’s version of John Stewart, the one fans never got to properly see play out on screen.
Months ago, Wayne T. Carr had previously shared his own green-screen video on Instagram with the words “Reset Restart Refocus,” which only adds more fuel to the speculation surrounding Snyder’s latest post. He also posted a GL video, noting, “Good Times.”
Taken together, the message fans are getting is pretty obvious: Snyder is once again revisiting ideas from the SnyderVerse that were left on the table, and that includes Green Lantern.
This also follows Snyder’s recent run of Justice League anniversary posts, including Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, and the Justice League film reel poster he called “one of the most meta movie posters ever made.”
Timing with Lanterns is hard to ignore
The post also lands right as the first Lanterns teaser has been getting hit with criticism online, with many fans complaining about the muted look, lack of bright green visuals, and grounded tone. Even HBO appeared to joke about the reaction on social media after fans called out the teaser for barely feeling like Green Lantern.
Alex Ross also drew attention after reposting classic Green Lantern artwork following the teaser release, which many fans took as a subtle reaction to the direction of the new series.
Against that backdrop, Snyder posting a glowing look at Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart feels anything but random.

Fans see this as another SnyderVerse message
Snyder had already stirred up Lanterns talk after liking a fan image pointing out he created his Green Lantern in his backyard.
Now he has gone a step further by posting Carr directly and reminding everyone this hero was supposed to be part of the larger Justice League story.
The “green glow is still out there” line reads like a wink to fans who still want to see more from Snyder’s DC world.
It also comes across as a contrast to the current DCU rollout, especially with Lanterns taking heat for not looking enough like Green Lantern in the first place.

Another reminder of what could have been
At minimum, Snyder is showing fans another piece of the DC story he never got to finish.
At the same time, he is doing it in a way that keeps the comparison between his plans and what DC is doing now alive.
With Zack Snyder’s Justice League hitting its five-year anniversary on March 18, the message behind these posts feels pretty clear. Snyder is reminding fans of the heroes he built, the stories he had planned, and the pieces of his universe that still have people talking.
