The fallout from Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension after his remarks about Charlie Kirk has taken a surprising turn.
While conservatives have long criticized Disney for pushing “woke” politics, now liberals are turning on the company, calling for boycotts of Disney, Marvel, and Disney+.

Reddit Fans Cancel Subscriptions
On Reddit, users have been announcing cancellations. One post in r/xmen from user Regular_Opening9431 — which has racked up over 1,700 upvotes — reads:
“I’ve been reading X-Men continuously for 40+ years. Cancelled all the Marvel pulls today at my LCS. My drop in the bucket means little on its own but hopefully enough drops will accumulate. Eff Disney.”
Another widely upvoted post in r/television by QBin2017 (over 4,700 upvotes) framed Disney’s move as an attack on free speech:
“What the FCC and ABC have done pulling Kimmel for non-republican commentary is an absolute abuse of power and suppression of free speech. I’ll be boycotting Disney+ because they WILL notice that.”

Liberal Outrage Spreads on Social Media
On X, progressive users blasted Disney for “caving to Trump” and threatened to cancel vacations, cruises, and streaming subscriptions.
One user said they’re skipping a Disney cruise and resort stay, accusing Disney of selling out. Others mocked the company for becoming “hated by both the left and right.”
Disney has sold out to trump by canceling Jimmy Kimmel. If you thought the Disney had values, realize, those are the same values as Six Flags Over Georgia.🤢No Oct. OKW for me and I guess I’ll never go from Platinum to Pearl with DCL.

Every major talent that works for ABC and Disney should refuse to show up for work until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated.

Marvel movies need to shutdown. Ditto the sitcoms.
Collective boycott.
Corporations love money more than anything, & this will really harm them and force them…
Additional users on X noted the irony: liberals are suddenly calling for boycotts over “free speech” — the same issue they dismissed when figures like Roseanne Barr and Gina Carano were fired by Disney for their political commentary.
Liberals are going to cancel their Disney+ subscriptions and Disney altogether for pulling Jimmy Kimmel off the air. Conservatives already boycott them for woke propaganda.

Trump unites the left and right against Disney
The pushback highlights a rare bipartisan disdain. Conservatives have long accused Disney of shoving progressive ideology into its content, while liberals now argue the company is silencing one of their own.
Whether this backlash dents Disney’s bottom line remains to be seen, but it’s already known that the MCU shows on Disney+, such as She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel, have been big failures, along with the Star Wars show, The Acolyte. Marvel Comics is also thought to be at one of its lowest points of all time. So if the liberals do boycott, more than likely it won’t make much of a difference.
Jimmy Kimmel is also thought to have been losing Disney and ABC money due to low ratings, reportedly dropping 11% alone in September, which is similar to that of Stephen Colbert, who reportedly was losing $40 million a year before cancellation.
You clearly don’t get what happened here. The REAL money spoke. ACTUAL normie audiences in suburban America who feed the LEGITIMATE advertisers said “NO”. This isn’t the same sort of left wing Astroturfing cancel culture bullshit you people have gaslit yourselves about. This is… https://t.co/K2yjaiqRcq

What Happened to Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.” He was delivering a speaking/debate event in front of thousands of attendees when he was shot in the neck by a sniper from a rooftop roughly 200 yards away.
The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has been arrested and formally charged with aggravated murder and several related counts. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, alleging the attack was politically motivated and that Robinson targeted Kirk for his conservative rhetoric.
Robinson is described as a leftist and said to be in a relationship with another man transitioning to a transgender female.
