Sony has released the trailer for Anaconda, the upcoming comedy-thriller starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd. The film hits theaters on December 25, 2025.
Story Details
Black plays Doug, a wedding videographer, and Rudd plays Griff, a background actor. The two longtime friends decide to finally remake their favorite film, Anaconda. But what begins as a passion project in the Amazon quickly spirals out of control when they run into a real giant snake. Their comical movie shoot turns into a fight for survival.

Tom Gormican directs and co-writes the film with Kevin Etten. Gormican previously directed The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and co-wrote Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. The producers are Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Kevin Etten, and Gormican, with Samson Mücke serving as executive producer.
A Different Kind of Anaconda
Despite the title, this Anaconda is not a remake of the 1997 thriller starring Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight. Instead, it blends comedy with survival horror, using the original film as a backdrop for Black and Rudd’s midlife crisis adventure.
