Hollywood actor Michael Keaton weighed in on the assassination of Charlie Kirk, using his speech at an investigative journalism gala to lecture about guns.
Keaton’s Remarks
“Before we start to get into the meat of this thing, I’m going to take a minute to say that, regardless of how I probably — not probably — have disagreed with many things he said, Charlie Kirk leaves behind two kids and a wife,” Keaton said at the Investigative Reporters and Editors’ 50th anniversary gala, via Variety.
Keaton then quickly pivoted to a familiar Hollywood talking point. “Because in the end, shooting people will never answer anything, and the irony that he was killed with a gun is unbelievable.”

Charlie Kirk’s Defense of the Second Amendment
It’s known that Charlie Kirk was a strong advocate of the Second Amendment. Keaton’s words echo recent remarks from left-wing Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who also used Kirk’s assassination to criticize America’s gun laws.
Speaking at a 2023 TPUSA Faith event, Kirk argued the Second Amendment was essential for protecting citizens against a tyrannical government. He acknowledged that gun deaths were unavoidable in a heavily armed society, but maintained that the benefits of gun rights outweighed the risks.

Keaton’s Politics
The actor has long aligned himself with Democratic causes in the past, even using Batman to campaign for Joe Biden in 2020, and he campaigned for Kamala Harris in 2024.
Keaton also spoke out against President Donald Trump and urged voters not to vote for him.

Left-Wing Reactions and Details on Suspect Tyler Robinson
Charlie Kirk, 31, founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated last Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University. Rather than uniting the country in condemning political violence, many on the left — including figures in comics, gaming, and Hollywood — have celebrated and mocked his death.
Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old arrested for the assassination of Charlie Kirk, is reported to have been in a relationship with a man transitioning to a transgender female who is reportedly active in the furry community.
