Elon Musk is calling out Microsoft after multiple Blizzard Entertainment developers were caught posting celebratory remarks about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Musk Responds
Responding to a thread highlighting the posts, Musk tagged Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella directly, asking: “What’s going on here, @satyanadella?”
The exchange came after a mega-thread circulated online showing Blizzard employees — including senior writers and narrative designers — posting or amplifying comments mocking Kirk’s killing.

Microsoft Statement
Microsoft, which owns Blizzard as part of its $69 billion Activision Blizzard acquisition, issued an official statement on X:
“We’re aware of the views expressed by a small subset of our employees regarding recent events. We take matters like this very seriously and we are currently reviewing each individual situation. Comments celebrating violence against anyone are unacceptable and do not align with our values.”
The statement was pinned to Microsoft’s account as of Friday night.

Growing Fallout
The Blizzard situation follows similar controversies in entertainment and gaming this week:
- DC Comics canceled Gretchen Felker-Martin’s Red Hood series after she celebrated Kirk’s assassination online.
- Sucker Punch Productions fired developer Drew Harrison, who had also mocked Kirk’s death in a now-viral post.
- Stephen King apologized for remarks.
Now, with Blizzard employees under scrutiny and Musk publicly pressing Nadella, the controversy is widening into corporate accountability for employee conduct online.
Blizzard Entertainment is best known for creating and developing major franchises like World of Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, Overwatch, and Hearthstone. These titles remain some of the most influential and popular games in the industry.

What Happened to Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk, 31, founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated Wednesday while addressing thousands of students at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
He was struck in the neck by a bullet fired from a rooftop and later pronounced dead at a hospital. A suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, is in custody.
