Kristen Wiig Joins 'Masters of the Universe' As Roboto

With Masters of the Universe having wrapped filming and post-production underway, it’s learned that Kristen Wiig (Wonder Woman 1984) has joined the cast of the He-Man movie as Roboto.

According to the casting news, Kristen Wiig will provide the voice of Roboto (via THR).

Who Is Roboto?

Though a robot, the character is usually thought of and voiced by a male.

First introduced in the classic 1980s toy line, Roboto is a cybernetic warrior built by Man-at-Arms. Known for his transparent chest that showcases internal gears and a modular arm capable of switching between tools like a claw, axe, or laser weapon, Roboto is one of the franchise’s standout Heroic Warriors.

Joins a large cast

Kristen Wiig joins a large cast that includes Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man and Jared Leto a Skeletor.

Also starring includes Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Morena Baccarin as Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, with Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, Stephen Adentan as Moss Man, and as Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man. 

Making up the evil forces of Jared Leto‘s Skeletor includes Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man. 

James Purefoy is playing King Randor, the father of Prince Adam/He-Man, and Charlotte Riley plays He-Man’s mother, Queen Marlena. Sasheer Zamata is Suzie, and Christian Vunipola plays Hussein.

The plot

The plot is said to follow Prince Adam, who crash-landed on Earth as a 10-year-old and lost his magical Power Sword, his only connection to Eternia. Nearly 20 years later, he finds the sword and is pulled back across the galaxy to battle Skeletor. To save his homeworld, Adam must uncover the truth about his past and transform into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.

Masters of the Universe hits theaters June 5, 2026, directed by Travis Knight, with a script by Chris Butler. Producers are Bill Bannerman, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, and Steve Tisch. Fabian Wagner (Zack Snyder’s Justice League) is the cinematographer.

He-Man’s Power Sword, and Skeletor’s Havoc Staff were recently on display at Comic-Con.
