Kevin Feige Makes Excuses About Marvel's Blade Movie

Instead of bringing the cast of Fantastic Four to Comic-Con, which shows just how much faith they have in the movie, Kevin Feige instead opted for a press invite-only interview at Marvel Studios.

Among the topics they tackled is Blade, where Kevin Feige spins more BS than Rumpelstiltskin.

Marvel's Blade Finally On Right Track?

What did Kevin Feige say about Blade?

Kevin Feige makes excuses why Blade hasn’t moved forward. Get this, he actually says, via Deadline: “We didn’t want to put a leather outfit on [Ali] and have him start killing vampires.

Feige added: “You can start and have a good script and make it a great script through production, but we didn’t feel confident we could do that on Blade. We didn’t want to do that to Mahershala and didn’t want to do that to us.

Well, isn’t that what Blade is about? Killing vampires? So, Feige is saying they want to make a Blade movie, but not about Blade? That lines up with reports that the movie is/was about Blade’s daughter replacing him – fitting with Feige’s Captain Marvel and post-Endgame approach – and that Mahershala Ali went against the idea. None of the journalists questioned Feige about that, apparently.

Feige also confirmed they have gone through four versions of Blade, with two of them period pieces (one of them set in the 1930s), and that they finally “landed on modern day, and that’s what we’re focusing on.

Via Variety, Feige also blamed the “too much content” excuse on Blade not moving forward.

Feige also said:  “It had to be unique. It fell into the time when we started pulling back and saying, ‘Only accept insanely great.’ And it wasn’t ‘insanely great’ at the time.

Mahershala Ali ready for Blade

Blade was first announced at the 2019 Comic-Con. It has already gone through at least two directors, with no new director attached. Reports have said that at least six writers have tackled the project.

While promoting the release of Jurassic World Rebirth, Mahershala Ali laughed off questions about Blade. “Leave me out of it,” he told Scarlett Johansson. In another interview, he said, “Call Marvel. I’m ready. Let them know I’m ready.
