Following Trump having said he’s Batman, well, now he’s Superman, which just might mean that Trump is the world’s finest?
James Gunn has said his Superman is a political movie and now the White House gets involved with a Donald Trump Superman meme, which sees a response from California governor Gavin Newsom about immigration.
Hey, guys, just like Nathan Fillion said, maybe it’s just a movie.

Trump Superman meme
Regarding the Trump meme, the official White House social media accounts posted a photoshopped Superman poster featuring President Donald Trump replacing David Corenswet. The poster states “A Trump Presidency” and mentions “Truth, Justice, and The American Way.”
While it’s not present in the movie, Superman merchandise changed “The American Way” to “The Human Way.”
The tweet from the White House adds, “The symbol of hope. Superman Trump.”
THE SYMBOL OF HOPE.

Gavin Newsom responds
Gavin Newsom’s official press office account on X responded noting, “Superman was an undocumented immigrant.”
In the lore, Superman crash-lands on Earth in Kansas and is raised by the Kents. The early stories didn’t bother explaining how they forged documents or legally adopted Clark to give him an official identity. Modern interpretations sometimes show them forging documents or going through legal channels to establish his records and make him part of society.

Is James Gunn’s Superman woke?
While Gunn definitely tackles political themes, the Superman movie is not woke. There are strong male and female characters. While true, Gunn’s version of Superman is weaker than past versions, it seems more to do with the story than being based on an agenda. Superman still has super moments, it’s just that this is his first time fighting foes as powerful or even more powerful than himself. Lois also has a lot of respect for him, and he has a lot of respect for her.
Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner is arguably the best character in the movie along with Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific. Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen is probably the best Jimmy we’ve ever seen. More in my review here.
