A bombshell report by Air Mail reveals that nine women have accused Jared Leto of sexual misconduct over the past two decades, some involving minors.
The Allegations
The accusations(via People), detailed in multiple reports, include claims of inappropriate behavior with underage individuals and explicit misconduct. Several women allege that Leto initiated contact when they were 16 or 17, engaging in late-night calls with sexual content. Others describe in-person encounters, including claims that Leto exposed himself, masturbated in front of a young woman, and coerced sexual acts.
Among the accusers, model Laura La Rue alleges that she met Leto at 16 and was invited to his home at 17, where he reportedly flirted with her and walked out nude. Similarly, DJ Allie Teilz, who was 17 at the time of her alleged encounter, claims Leto attempted to force himself on her backstage. Teilz later reposted a 2012 Facebook post labeling Leto “Hollywood’s most persistent predator,” describing the experience as “predatory, terrifying, and unacceptable.”
Leto’s Response
Leto’s representatives have “expressly denied” all allegations, dismissing some as “demonstrably false.” They argue that any communications were innocuous and dispute claims that accusers, such as La Rue, applied to work for Leto—a point La Rue has refuted. Leto himself has not publicly commented on the allegations.
Past Comments from James Gunn
Before his temporary firing by Disney in 2018 over resurfaced controversial tweets, James Gunn made several public remarks criticizing Jared Leto, which we previously pointed out, some of which have since drawn attention in light of the current allegations.
In May 2018, former Disney actor Dylan Sprouse tweeted that Leto had a pattern of dating younger women aged 18–25. Gunn replied to the post with a tweet reading, “He starts at 18 on the Internet?”—a remark many interpreted as an insinuation of inappropriate behavior involving minors. The tweet has since been deleted from Gunn’s official account on X (formerly Twitter).
Earlier incidents were also reported. In 2015, Gunn allegedly made remarks about Leto during a live Periscope video, which he later deleted. According to various accounts at the time, Gunn discussed rumors about Leto’s personal life, which included unverified claims regarding underage women. Gunn later issued a brief apology on Instagram, writing: “Sorry to all of you around the world who saw my Ambien-fueled Periscope session last night at 3 a.m. (Yes, I erased it).”
A deleted 2012 tweet also showed Gunn writing, “Driving home from Vegas trading stories about what a dick Jared Leto is.”
Context and Timing
The alleged incidents reportedly began in the mid-2000s, with some dating back to 2006. No legal action has been filed as of now, but the public nature of these claims has amplified their impact, particularly given Leto’s high-profile role in Tron: Ares.
The timing of the Air Mail report aligns with increased promotional efforts for the film, raising questions about how Disney and its partners will navigate the controversy. Tron: Ares is due out October 10, 2025.
