Wonder Woman Coming To The DCU: James Gunn Teases "Encouraging" News

On the heels of the recent comments made by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav about Wonder Woman, James Gunn has teased that something is indeed in the works for the Princess of Themyscira in the DCU.

What did James Gunn say?

Following the new Superman trailer release last week, a fan questioned Gunn on Threads, “Do you have any updates on Wonder Woman?”

Gunn replied, “Not to be shared publicly yet but yes. Encouraging.”

What did David Zaslav say?

Gunn’s encouraging update follows Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav touting Wonder Woman along with Batman, Superman, and Supergirl in a recent investor call.

Zaslav said these four characters will be the “pillars” and “asset-builders” of the DCU.

Wonder Woman updates

As we previously went over, there hasn’t been much said about Wonder Woman as of late.

Gunn did announce the Paradise Lost TV series set within the DCU, but there hasn’t been much said about that. Other than Lanterns, none of the new DCU TV projects seem to be in active development, which also includes Booster Gold and Waller.

There is also that Wonder Woman video game, but it’s been claimed to be canceled.

Who should play the DCU Wonder Woman?

Maybe Gunn is teasing Wonder Woman DCU casting, as Gal Gadot is done with the role, which we can guess might happen after the release of Superman this summer.

Marvel Moon Knight actress May Calamawy said she would play Wonder Woman.

Star Wars Andor actress Adria Arjona was also asked about playing Wonder Woman. Gunn cast her in The Belko Experiment. She told Cinema Blend, “He gave me my first movie ever…my first studio movie. So I owe him a lot. I love James Gunn…I don’t know.”
