Marvel is currently filming reshoots for The Fantastic Four: First Steps involving Julia Garner in Los Angeles, where set images from Wednesday have leaked online in what appears to be her Silver Surfer transformation scene involving Galactus.
This is the first look at Julia Garner in the movie in her humanoid form as Shalla-Bal (she’s an alien from the planet Zenn-La), as the recent trailer showed off her female Silver Surfer.
It’s rather interesting the reshoots involve Julia Garner, as reaction to the trailer has been more on the negative side.
If I have to guess, it seems they are either adding or reshooting Shalla-Bal’s transformation into the Silver Surfer by Galactus.
What do the leaks show?
The set pics (via Daily Mail) show Juila Garner standing atop jagged rocks as waves crashed around her during what looks like a dramatic scene.
She wears a flowing white and blue-patterned dress with cape-like details that drape down past her ankles.
With her blonde hair slicked back, Julia Garner/Shalla Bal raises her arms and gazes out at the ocean.

“What makes this version different is that the movie is just different,” Garner recently told EW. “First of all, I’m a woman, so that’s already different, and that hasn’t been told before. This Silver Surfer feels more mysterious in a way, even how it was written, than the other ones. Also, just the world feels so different with the 1960s retro futurism going on. The audience is going to get a completely different experience with this movie, so they’ll have a clean palette.”

Only a multiverse version?
In the comics, the real Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd, sacrifices himself to save his planet, and he agrees to become the herald of Galactus, the Silver Surfer. However, the Silver Surfer loses his memories upon transformation and leads Galactus to consume other planets. Eventually, they make their way to Earth where the Silver Surfer regains his memories and the Surfer rebels against Galactus.
It seems it’s similar in the MCU, just that Kevin Feige gender swapped the Silver Surfer to go with his M-She-U approach following Endgame (that’s been a massive fail).
Since Marvel Studios has already confirmed the main FF cast for Avengers: Doomsday and actually teased the Fantastic Four in Thunderbolts, putting two and two together, Julia Garner’s female Silver Surfer may exist as part of only the Multiverse. It could mean the real version in the MCU is still somewhere out there…
