At Star Wars Celebration Japan, Disney and Lucasfilm announced the release date and title of the Shawn Levy Star Wars movie.
Ryan Gosling is also confirmed to be joining a galaxy far, far away.
Shawn Levy, fresh off directing and producing Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, made a surprise appearance at the Mandalorian and Grogu panel during Star Wars Celebration Japan, where he joined Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and CCO Dave Filoni on stage to officially confirm his Star Wars project. The official title is Star Wars: Starfighter.
When is the release date?
Star Wars: Starfighter will be released in theaters on May 28, 2027, which is Memorial Day weekend.
When does filming start?
The film will go into production starting this fall.

Set approximately five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Gosling will play a brand-new character teased by the actor’s appearance on stage.
