Marvel and Tribute Games have announced MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, a retro scroller where gamers can play as various heroes as they take on Annihilus and the Annihilation Wave.
The game looks to in part adapt the stellar Marvel Comics event Annihilation from 2005/6, which featured Marvel Cosmic characters defending the universe from an invasion from the Negative Zone, led by Annihilus. Heroes like the Avengers and X-Men weren’t involved but the game adds them and also adds an earth-based setting for obvious reasons ($$).

Features Nova
The trailer below only shows that Nova from the original comic event is a playable character. It looks like they’re using Nova from the ’90s, which fits with the retro style of the game. We also see Phyla is playable, who fans loathed when she replaced the real Wendell Vaughn Quasar. Similar to Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel, Phyla is another horribly written woke character.

15 playable characters
The info says there are fifteen playable characters, so it would be cool if most of them are from Marvel Cosmic. The info lists “Nova, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Phyla-Vell, Captain America, Storm, Venom and many more heroes, both earth-born and cosmic.” The Silver Surfer should be a must-include.

Game info
Here’s the game info:
A cosmic battle awaits! Choose between 15 Marvel heroes in this frenetic action beat ’em up to fight against the deadly Annihilation Wave threatening the galaxy. From New York City to the depths of the Negative Zone, the future of the Marvel Universe will be fought for across the stars!
With the Cosmic Swap tag-team system, choose two heroes for each level and switch between them instantly. Create unique combos and powerful special attacks. Each character’s abilities encourage creative team-ups and a more tactical approach to the action.

If anything it looks like a fun game. Watch the trailer below.
