Shawn Levy Developing Dungeons & Dragons Live-Action Netflix Series: 'The Forgotten Realms'

Shawn Levy is developing a Dungeons & Dragons live-action series at Netflix, The Forgotten Realms, along with Drew Crevello.

Levy is serving as producer with Crevello as the writer-showrunner. Levy produced Stranger Things at Netflix which is in part inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, and he produced Unsolved Mysteries, Shadow & Bone, and released The Adam Project on the streamer. Drew Crevello’s credits include the WeCrashed TV miniseries on Apple TV+.

The details include that the Dungeons & Dragons Netflix series will no be at all related to the recent Honor Among Thieves movie or any previous series that was in development.

Deadline offers that initially the D&D series was in development from Red Notice filmmaker Rawson Marshall Thurber who is now directing the live-action Voltron for Amazon but that the D&D series has “underwent redevelopment with Crevello at the helm and a brand new concept not related to the past D&D development with Thurber and Paramount or the Honor Among Thieves movie.”

The site adds the series could lead to a D&D universe on Netflix.
