Marvel Studios has released a first look at Lewis Pullman in Thunderbolts who plays Robert Reynolds, aka The Sentry. New images also feature the rest of the cast in addition to Julia Louis-Dreyfus who returns as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Black Widow, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Thunderbolts gets released on May 2, 2025 directed by Jake Schreier.
“It’s a completely different beast,” Louis-Dreyfus told EW.com. “This movie’s a real opportunity for me to really explore the Val character. You really get to know what she’s made of, and even a lot of her backstory. She’s in it to win it.”
She continued, “You’re going to see her entire plan unfold. It has a lot of mystery to it and there’s some twists and turns that you don’t see coming, which are the best kind. There’s a lot of suspense, which is very groovy.”
Louis-Dreyfus adds, “Her intentions aren’t necessarily pure. You’ve got hero, you’ve got anti-hero, you have villain…is there such a thing as an anti-villain?”
She also says Thunderbolts will be a really grounded film compare to other MCU movies that are known for big CGI scenes.
“What’s great about this film is it’s got sort of a grittiness that matches up well with the comedy, and there’s not a lot of green screen,” Louis-Dreyfus said. “There’s not these special effects that go on for hours. It’s people doing their own stunts. It’s got a rawness that I think the audience is going to very much enjoy, sort of going back to roots in that sense.”
The article doesn’t mention anything about Pullman’s character, but if you are a fan of the comics, you know what is in store.
Thunderbolts also stars David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Geraldine Viswanathan, Olga Kurylenko and Florence Pugh.
