Lady Gaga will join the cast of Wednesday for its highly anticipated second season on Netflix.
Following the viral success of Gaga’s 2011 track Bloody Mary, which fans paired with an iconic dance sequence from the show, Gaga has landed a role in the series, according to EW.com.
While her exact character is still under wraps, sources for the site reveal that the singer-actress is currently filming her scenes in Europe.
Wednesday, which debuted in 2022, features Jenna Ortega in the title role, portraying the complex, psychic-laden life of Wednesday Addams during her school years.
Ortega previously hinted at her desire for Gaga to appear on the show, suggesting a storyline where they play “two monsters that understand each other.”
“I’m sure Netflix would love that,” Ortega previously told Variety. “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”
Gaga’s role could indeed play on her experience with dark and eccentric characters, which she has explored in projects like American Horror Story — where she won a Golden Globe — and the Oscar-winning A Star Is Born. Gaga joins an ensemble cast including Gwendoline Christie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Christina Ricci.
