Netflix has released a new trailer for Squid Game Season 2 which shows off the new season’s contestants and the first kill.
Lee Jung-jae is back as Seong Gi-hun, aka Player 456. The trailer starts with the “Red Light. Green Light” game which kicked off the first season. Similarly, it doesn’t go well for certain contestants.
“There’s no stopping the game,” teases the video description. Watch the trailer below.
What is Squid Game Season 2 about?
In Season 2, Seong Gi-hun is on a mission to expose the game. The trailer also teases the mysterious Front Man, the man behind the game, played by Lee Byung-hun, with his true motivations remaining cloaked in secrecy.
“Season 2 explores how Gi-hun follows through on his words after leaving the airport,” director Hwang Dong-hyuk said in a featurette. “Gi-hun’s endeavor to find out who these people are and why they do what they do is the core story of Season 2.”
Lee Jung-jae added: “In Season 1, there was room to show glimpses of Gi-hun’s various personalities, such as his optimistic nature and positive energy. This time, the focus was on his determination.”
Season 2 takes place three years after the traumatic events of Season 1, Player 456, Seong Gi-hun, has made a life-changing decision. Rather than pursuing a quiet life abroad, Gi-hun is drawn back into the high-stakes, deadly games with a new sense of purpose. Once again, he finds himself competing in another round of survival, this time joined by new participants vying for the massive prize of 45.6 billion won.
Squid Game Season 2 premieres on Dec. 26.
