DreamWorks Animation has announced that Shrek 5 is happening and announced a July 1, 2026 release date.
The original cast will also be back to voice the characters which includes Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz.
DreamWorks announced the news on their official social media accounts.

What are the Shrek 5 details?
In addition to the July 1, 2026 release date and returning original cast, Shrek 5 will be directed by Walt Dohrn, who served as a writer and artist on Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third, and as head of story on Shrek Forever After.
Gina Shay and Illumination founder Chris Meledandri are serving as producers. Brad Ableson (Minions: The Rise of Grue) is also the co-director.
Plot details are not known, and it is also not known of Antonio Banderas will return as Puss the feline.
The four Shrek movies have brought in three billion dollars at the box office. The first was released in 2001, the second in 2004, the third in 2007, and the fourth in 2010. The two Puss in Boots movie have also brought in another billion dollars.
