Warner Bros. Discover announces release dates for the James Gunn DCU Supergirl movie, Mortal Kombat 2, and more.
Mortal Kombat 2
Mortal Kombat 2 will be released in theaters on Oct. 24, 2025.
The film stars Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, and while the plot hasn’t officially been announced, Mortal Kombat 2 leaks offer the flick sees Shao Khan, the emperor of Outerworld, killing King Jerrod, taking his throne, and turning his queen into an undead servant. Their daughter, Kitana, scarred for life after her father and mother are killed, seeks revenge.
It’s also said that Urban’s Cage at first fights Baraka before they come to a mutual respect for one another and become allies in their battle against Shao Khan, and the Outerworld.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Regarding the DCU Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie starring Milly Alcock, the second film in the DCU slate will be released on June 26, 2026.
Update: Gunn confirmed on Instagram: “Accurate. Craig, Milly, Ana, Chantal, Peter and I are excited to get started!”
The film will follow the July 11, 2025 premiere of James Gunn’s new Superman movie starring David Corenswet, which is expected to feature Milly Alcock’s first appearance as Supergirl prior to her own movie.
Craig Gillespie is directing, with the script by Ana Nogueira.
It was previously reported the Mille Alcock Supergirl will be an edgier version, as it has been said James Gunn wants to move away from the recent portrayal played by Melissa Benoist on The CW, and that Krypto the Superdog will be featured in the flick.
“In the new iteration, Supergirl travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. Along the way, she meets a young woman named Ruthye and winds up on a murderous quest for revenge,” stated a previous description by Variety.
Gunn also previously said on social media about casting Alcock: “Milly was the FIRST person I brought up to Peter for this role, well over a year ago, when I had only read the comics. I was watching ‘House of the Dragon’ and thought she might have the edge, grace and authenticity we needed.”
