Though we’ve heard it before, Marvel once again confirms that a Nova project is in early development for the MCU.
It’s known that the original draft of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie featured Nova, and you can argue the start of Infinity War could pave the way for Nova in the MCU (and they even cut a 45-minute scene!).
Cosmic Book News got started in part to help Marvel promote both Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova as well as Abnett and Lanning’s Marvel Cosmic brand (hence cosmic comic book news — Cosmic Book News). The editor at the time even coined us “rabid fans” at the time, and we were a part of sending Marvel that Bring Back Wendell Vaughn as Quasar cake! The comics also bucked the trend of losing readers with each issue published and had rock solid sales!
Loves Richard Rider
The latest about Nova in the MCU comes from Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of streaming, animation, and television, who says Marvel loves Nova and he even mentions Richard Rider.
“We love Nova. We are in really early development on Nova,” Winderbaum told Comic Book.com.
Since Winderbaum is in charge of Marvel TV on Disney+, he happens to mention a Nova show, and he also happens to confirm the report that Marvel changed things up following the big failure of Secret Invasion.
“We have a new system behind-the-scenes at Marvel Studios. We’re more like a traditional studio now. We’re developing more than we actually will produce,” he said. “There are plans to develop Nova. I love Nova, too. I love Rich Rider, too. I hope it gets to the screen. The world is always chaos. There’s always things. You gotta conjure these things to make them happen but I would love to see a Nova show, one day.”
Adapt the Abnett Lanning stuff, not the garbage after
As we see Winderbaum mention, Nova is not guaranteed, but let’s cross our fingers.
As I mentioned in the report about Ryan Gosling joining the MCU, now would be a great time to adapt the 2007 Nova series and Annihilation, as Dune and games like Helldivers 2 are huge.
I also recommend that Marvel only adapt the Abnett and Lanning Nova stuff, and I hope they don’t consider anything after 2011, especially the Sam Alexander garbage that’s associated with Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, etc. which are all proven big failures.
Make mine, Richard Rider!!!
