Tom Hardy’s MobLand future is getting even messier, as Puck News is standing by its report that the actor is still fired while new rumors claim his exit could cost Paramount+ millions in reshoots.
Puck’s Matthew Belloni, who first reported Hardy was fired from the Paramount+ crime series, addressed the situation in his latest report and made it clear nothing has changed on his end.
“Tom Hardy—still fired off MobLand. My recent report set off the tabloids, but nothing’s changed. I’ll let you know if it does,” Belloni wrote.
The update comes after Variety reported Hardy “was not fired” and that talks are underway for his possible return as Harry Da Souza. THR and TMZ have also reported that Hardy has not officially been fired, making the situation even more confusing.
Reshoots Could Reportedly Cost Millions
Adding to the drama, Daily Mail reports Hardy’s unexpected MobLand exit could cost millions, with Paramount+ bosses facing possible reshoots to change the Season 2 finale.
According to the report, Season 2 is virtually complete, but Hardy’s character is too important to simply disappear before Season 3.
An insider told The Sun that Harry Da Souza is “pivotal to the story,” meaning the show would need to explain his absence if Hardy is really gone.
The source also said changing the end of Season 2 would cost millions in extra development, filming, and editing.
The big question is whether Hardy would even return to film new scenes, or if producers would have to get creative and write around him.
Either way, this shows how big the Hardy problem is for MobLand.
Harry Da Souza is not a small character. He is the connective tissue of the show.
Helen Mirren Shuts Down Feud Rumors
The reports have also dragged Helen Mirren into the story, but she seems to have shut down the idea that she has a personal problem with Hardy.
After rumors spread that Hardy had issues with Mirren on set, Mirren posted a photo of Hardy on social media and wrote, “love you now and always helen.”
That is about as direct as it gets.
The message undercuts the idea that Mirren is leading some kind of anti-Hardy push behind the scenes.
Fans have also voiced their concerns and overwhelmingly back Hardy. They’ve even said that if Hardy isn’t coming back for Season 3, they won’t watch Season 2. The situation is being compared to what happened when Henry Cavill exited The Witcher.
