James Gunn has released the first look at Nicholas Hoult in Lex Luthor’s Warsuit for Man of Tomorrow.
Gunn posted the image from the set on social media with the caption: “Fit check. Live from the set of Man of Tomorrow.”
The image shows Hoult’s Lex standing in a massive green armored suit with a dome-style helmet, shoulder plating, glowing lights, and a heavy sci-fi design.
Nicholas Hoult Suits Up As Lex Luthor
The first look confirms Lex isn’t just back in Man of Tomorrow.
Hoult returns after Superman, but this time Lex looks ready to fight on Superman’s level. The Warsuit gives Luthor the one thing he normally doesn’t have: raw physical power.
It also fits where the sequel appears to be heading.
Man of Tomorrow will see Lex Luthor and David Corenswet’s Superman forced into an uneasy alliance against Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger. Check out the first look at David Corenswet as Superman on set.

Superman And Lex Team Up Against Brainiac
Brainiac is set up as the bigger threat in Man of Tomorrow, which explains why Lex would need armor like this.
Gunn has also teased the Superman/Brainiac conflict, previously writing that “Brainiac is what happens when intelligence loses ALL connection to humanity,” while Superman is “as human as anyone,” which explains why the two “have beef.”
Brainiac represents cold intellect taken to the extreme, while Superman represents empathy and human values.
That also makes Lex a natural wild card. He is a genius who hates Superman, but Brainiac may be the kind of threat even Lex can’t ignore.
The Warsuit could be Lex’s way of proving he belongs in the fight, even if he still doesn’t trust Superman.

What Is Lex Luthor’s Warsuit In The Comics?
Lex Luthor’s Warsuit is one of the character’s most famous weapons in the comics.
Lex is usually the villain who tries to beat Superman with money, science, politics, and manipulation. The Warsuit lets him go one-on-one with the Man of Steel.
Depending on the version, the armor gives Lex super strength, flight, energy weapons, and protection strong enough to survive a fight with Superman.
The classic green and purple look became a major part of Lex’s comic book identity in the Bronze Age.
In some versions, the Warsuit is tied to alien technology, including tech from Lexor, while later versions used advanced Earth tech, alien upgrades, and even Kryptonite-based weapons to level the playing field against Superman.
For longtime DC fans, the Warsuit matters because it turns Lex’s ego into a costume. He doesn’t just want to destroy Superman. He wants to stand across from him and prove he is better.
