Tatiana Maslany says she would still be open to returning as She-Hulk, despite her past criticism of Disney.
The actress, who played Jennifer Walters in Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, addressed the topic while speaking with Radio Times to promote her new Apple TV thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.
Maslany previously backed a Disney boycott and has been outspoken against the company, but she now says the character of She-Hulk is separate from her issues with the corporation.
Tatiana Maslany Says She Still Loves She-Hulk
Radio Times asked Maslany if her previous Disney criticism would stop her from reprising the Marvel role.
Maslany said no, explaining that She-Hulk exists outside of how she views the company.
“The character is outside of what I feel like the corporation is doing,” Maslany said.
She continued, “I love She Hulk, and I loved what [Attorney at Law creator] Jessica Gao did with her. I feel like it was very loyal to the comics and all of that.”
Maslany added that she would consider a return if Marvel found the right place for Jennifer Walters.
“If there was a space where it made sense for her to come back… I mean, I don’t know anything, and I do think that the internet will know before I do,” she said.
Maslany Previously Called Out Disney
The comments follow Maslany’s previous criticism of Disney.
As we previously covered, Maslany appeared at the Sundance Film Festival wearing an “ICE Out” pin and another pin supporting Artists for Ceasefire. She also spoke out about Gaza and said people could not remove themselves from the issues being protested.
Maslany has also criticized Disney directly.
She encouraged fans to cancel Disney+ following Disney’s handling of Jimmy Kimmel’s controversial comments. She also publicly criticized Disney CEO Bob Iger during the Hollywood strikes and mocked Marvel rumors after chatter surfaced that she would not appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Still Has She-Hulk On The Shelf
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premiered on Disney+ in 2022 and introduced Jennifer Walters as Bruce Banner’s cousin, a lawyer who becomes a Hulk after being exposed to his blood.
The series ended with several loose threads, but Marvel has not moved forward with Season 2.
Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum previously defended the series, calling it one of Marvel’s better-performing Disney+ shows and saying there was a gap between the general audience response and the louder online backlash. However, it’s known She-Hulk didn’t perform all that well, per Nielsen.
Maslany’s latest comments leave the door open.
She may not be backing Disney, but she still sounds willing to play Jennifer Walters again if Marvel gives She-Hulk a reason to return.
