Wonder Woman is now officially in theaters, and it has already broken one box office record.
Last night’s $11 million haul for the Wonder Woman Thursday night screenings bested the $8.6M of Fifty Shades Of Grey, giving Patty Jenkins the best preview night ever by a female director.
It’s also expected that Wonder Woman will pass Fifty Shades Of Grey’s opening weekend of $85.1M, which would also give Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins the best opening weekend by a female director.
Wonder Woman is expected to open around $86-90 million, which is similar to Marvel’s Doctor Strange ($85M) and Guardians of the Galaxy ($94.3M) movies.
Wonder Woman currently has a 93% Fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes with 208 positive reviews and only 15 negative. Likewise, 93% of the audience stated they liked the movie.
There is also talks of Wonder Woman 2 already having been green lit.
“Wonder Woman” has a June 2, 2017 release directed by Patty Jenkins starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, and Saïd Taghmaoui .
