IDR followed up the 1996 movie twenty years later, but failed to achieve a similar box office draw as it brought in $390 million compared to the first film’s near billion dollars.
Regarding another movie, director Roland Emmerich recently stated Independence Day 3 could air on TV.
I recently watched IDR and thought it wasn’t too bad. It was fun and enjoyable; I guess it depends on what you were expecting, though I think that alien ball thing was a bit too much, IMO.
