There is some more super computer animation and a great script that belies its place on a “kiddy network” when viewing this morning’s Green Lantern: the Animated Series.
This time around, the Star Sapphires are introduced. For the uninitiated, these are gals who get their ring powered by the emotion of love.
But do not let their shapely figures make you doubt their power. That very power is showcased here in another tale that uses Aya, the Interceptor’s artificial intelligence, as its “everyman” of discovery, and a fine character this walking, talking A.I. has turned out to be — especially in her relationship with both Raser, the rogue Red Lantern, and in communicating with other cultures’ machines.
But do not expect things to be lovey-dovey between Hal, Kilowog and the Sapphires. The pink-ringed ones invite the GLs to their homeworld, but it turns out that the whole thing is a sham to drain the Green Lanterns’ power rings by encasing them in — crystals?
This series continues to make a sophisticated video world for Hal and friends, and as a comics fan and sci-fi fan I am enjoying the hell out of it.
