TV Review: Green Lantern: The Animated Series (Episode 5, Heir Apparent)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1138:]]In “Heir Apparent,” Episode 5 of the excellent Green Lantern: The Animated Series, the ship A.I. Aya takes human form while we are treated to a cosmic smackdown Gladiator-style!

This week, Hal,  Kilowog and Razer travel to Betrassus, a high tech yet medieval world (sound familiar, Star Trek fans?), where they become embroiled in a murder investigation that could bring down the kingdom of the reigning monarch, Iolande, before it even begins.

And while that tells you there is a ton of computer animated action, there is also a conspiracy afoot in the kingdom which demonstrates this show’s constant attempt to appeal to the early morning kiddies as well as we more mature fans who — well, who still love our comics and cartoons.

The product’s writers have the voices of these individuals down so well, and as usual the voice talents are brilliant. The addition of Aya and Razer to the mix – especially on occasions when we see the plotting Atrocitus – just sharpens the focus of this morality play.

My question is: How can you not get up early Saturday to watch this Cartoon Network offering?
