No Green Lantern For John Diggle In Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19202:]]

Bad news for fans of Arrow and David Ramsey that thought John Diggle might be a Green Lantern or even John Stewart.

Showrunner Marc Guggenheim responded to the notion that Diggle might become a Green Lantern following an interview where David Ramsey confirmed talks about it.

Guggenheim rains on everybody’s parade by saying it isn’t happening.

“It’s funny, I’ve spoken to David quite a bit about this issue, I know it keeps coming up,” Guggenheim told MTV. “I spoke to [writer] Geoff Johns at DC after that interview went viral. Basically, John Diggle is now a character in the comics… John Diggle is John Diggle. We’re not being coy and saying John Diggle is someone else, i.e. John Stewart. DC has other plans for that character. We love David, and we love the character of John Diggle that he’s created. We have really cool plans for him… they involve a wedding ring, but they don’t involve a power ring.”

While Diggle may not be a Green Lantern, Guggenheim does tease that current characters may become DC heroes.

“There are two characters who would probably fall into that category,” he said. “Were we to do it, they would be characters from the comics that you already know.”

Arrow airs Wednesdays on the CW.

FOX TV Adapting 215 Ink’s Enormous

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19195:]]

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19196:]]

20th Century Fox Television and New Regency Television are teaming up with producer Adrian Askarieh’s Prime Universe Films to embark on the development of an event-series based on the best-selling action/horror comic book Enormous from publisher 215 Ink and creators Tim Daniel and Mehdi Cheggour. (Enormous Vol.1 still available for order from Diamond – Previews code JAN151627)

Set in the near future, the comic book series finds the world suffering a planetary resource crisis when a vast ecological cataclysm spawns The Enormous, massive beasts unlike anything ever witnessed. Displaced from atop the food-chain, humankind struggles to stave off extinction, and a shattered society scrambles for refuge in the wake of the monstrous rampage.

Amid the ashes of Phoenix, Ariz., Ellen Grace, a former school teacher who lost everything and everyone she loved in the uprising, leads a search and rescue team into the ruins of the city in hopes of locating children orphaned by the cataclysm. But not all the remaining humans seek salvation, and in a world dominated by monsters, man is still the most dangerous animal of all.

Enormous debuted to critical praise in July 2014 and has achieved repeated release-day sellouts in its first six issues, with the first issue requiring a second printing. Strong secondary-market sales have driven interest in the series that continues to defy industry sales trends, with the final issue of the first arc outselling the initial offering.

Andrew Poltkin of New Regency Television and Adrian Askarieh of Prime Universe Films will serve as executive producers for the series. The search is on for a top show-runner.

Enormous originally debuted as an oversized one-shot graphic novella in 2012 and later served as the basis for a groundbreaking live-action short web film from Machinima (watch beow) – written by André Øvredal, director of “Trollhunter;” directed by Ben David Grabinski,  and produced by Askarieh’s Prime Universe Films, Pure Imagination Studios and Machinima.

Watch: Wheel of Time TV Pilot: “Winter Dragon”

Watch the pilot for Wheel Of Time “Winter Dragon” that aired last night on FXX at 1:30 AM EST.

The pilot is based on the hugely popular Robert Jordan fantasy novels and was done without the estate of Robert Jordan’s involvement.

Apparently, the rights holder needed to get it on TV before a certain date, which is why you may have missed it.

Though Wheel Of Time aired in the middle of the night, in what io9 describes as an infomercial, the CEO of Red Eagle Entertainment and the executive producer of “Winter Dragon,” Rick Selvage, says there are plans for more.

“[‘Winter Dragon’] was a pilot for a high-budget production television series,” Selvage said. “We think there’s huge demand for the television series internationally, and we’re looking forward to producing it and getting it out in the marketplace. Obviously, the pilot was a prologue to the ‘Eye of the World,’ which is the first book. It was not the introduction to the series, although it is a pilot. Certainly, we want fans to find out about it and be excited that there’s a lot more to come.”

Regarding the estate of Robert Jordan not being involved, Jordan’s widow stated the news of the pilot airing was “startling” and made “without [her] knowledge or cooperation,” and that the rights revert back on February 11th, as well as she is “dumfounded” and is “taking steps to prevent its reoccurrence.”

Jaimie Alexander Returning To Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18379:]]

Two months ago saw Jaimie Alexander tease she was filming scenes for Lady Sif, and now it’s as we speculated, as Alexander will return to Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

TV Insider reports Jaimie Alexander will reprise as Sif in episode 12, which will see Sif come to Earth on an undercover mission where she encounters a villain with superpowers that are equal to her own. The ensuing battle is said to take place off the coast of Portugal and becomes big news. The fight tops social media causing the SHIELD agents to rush in and investigate only to find Sif without her armor and suffering from short-term memory loss.

Sif has no idea who Thor is or that she serves a king, and we’re going to have fun with that,” executive producer Jeffrey Bell said. “It’ll give us some much-needed humor in a season that’s been full of betrayal and death. Sif can’t even recall who she came here from Asgard to stop, but Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] and his team will try to help her figure all that out.”

It is said Sif hasn’t forgotten everything as she does know she is an alien and from Asgard.

“We’ve been dealing a lot with space aliens and Inhumans in our last few episodes—things our Earth-bound heroes just don’t know much about,” Bell says. “They need help understanding what’s really going on. Sif’s memory—what’s left of it—will come in very handy.”

Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.IE.L.D. returns March 3rd; the Jaimie Alexander Sif episode airs March 10th.

Fans Upset Over The Walking Dead Spoiler

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19090:]](Chris Bushley, Robert Kirkman, Matt McGloin – 2011 NYCC)

Reactions are pouring in on Twitter over the death of fan-favorite character Tyreese.

Our own Walking Dead expert, Chris “The Doc” Bushley, called it the “worst episode EVER!!” adding it was a “really dumb way to lose him.”

Likewise, I thought the death of Tyreese was done for shock value.

I don’t think I can agree with the group deciding to split off to “do it for Beth,” which puts them in danger. Tyreese, really, died for nothing, and the loss of such a beloved character to go out with a bite to the arm seemed underwhelming and even less deserved.

I did think the episode was well directed as the foreshadowing throughout the episode was great. There were certain tidbits that were cool as well (Glenn’s bat?!), and did anyone else think Tyreese was going to live and have one arm, similar to Rick in the comics? Also: How come they didn’t tie a belt around Tyreese’s arm to stop the bleeding? Or find gasoline and try to cauterize the wound themselves?

Or how about waiting until they got back to the group to cut the arm off?

I did understand why they killed Tyreese off as I felt Tyreese was too tied down to the world before The Walking Dead and couldn’t make the jump to the new world (as evidenced by him not wanting to kill).

That said, I felt Chad Coleman brought something to the show the other characters didn’t. Tyreese was like a big teddy bear, a brother or even a potential father-figure. He was someone you could trust; the guy was human. Tyreese was the rock. I suppose those types of characters can’t survive in The Walking Dead.

We’ll miss you, Tyreese.

Star of Arrow, Stephen Amell, recently attended the Dallas Comic-Con where he talked about potential crossovers with other shows.

A fan recorded the QnA, which you can watch below.

Here are some excerpts, which looks to include a potential spoiler as Amell seemingly confirms The Lazarus Pit.

On Supergirl:

It would be cool to crossover with Supergirl because it’s something with Greg Berlanti who is the helmer and sort of the brain trust, or the center of the brain trust of Arrow and The Flash, and I know so many of the people that are involved in the production of the show, so that would be really interesting.

Gotham:

Gotham would be a tough one, just beacuse I think they’re out in a different time, but the crossover with The Flash was so much fun and did so well that I can’t imagine a world – a universe (no pun intended) – where that didn’t happen and continue to happen all the time.

Constantine:

It would be interesting to cross over with Constantine, only because he knows a lot about the Lazarus Pit, which is something that we’ve introduced in the show this year.

Amell also talks fighting Ra’s al Ghul and its affect on Oliver and more in the video below.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8pm ET on the CW.
