Tron: Ares Set Video Shows Off Jared Leto

Summary

  • Disney is currently filming Tron: Ares with Jared Leto as the titular character
  • Set video and images show Leto’s character, Ares, in the real world, possibly struggling to adapt to the new environment
  • The film will feature the return of ENCOM and a possible mysterious AI convention called ParanoiaCon 27

Following the official look from a couple of weeks ago, Disney is now filming Tron: Ares where set video shows off Jared Leto.

A fan on Twitter has posted a bunch of video and images from the set which features Jared Leto as the titular character walking around the real world in the same suit revealed in the first look image minus the helmet.

Sent from the digital world into the real world

Fitting with the film’s official synopsis, the video seems to show Leto as Ares arriving in our world where he looks a bit robotic, perhaps not used to being in this world as he comes from the digital realm?

The synopsis teases that the flick follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares (Leto), who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.

It probably would make sense for Ares to try to blend in and look like ordinary humans (my guess), so again, maybe this set video is the first arrival of Ares into our world.

ENCOM returns

Additional images from the set also tease the return of ENCOM, the fictitious computer company from the movies which in Tron: Legacy had become one of the largest tech companies in the world. However, at the end of the movie, Sam had taken it back with the intent to return it similar to the ideals that his father intended.

ParanoiaCon 27

We also see “ParanoiaCon 27,” which takes place on “10/27,” that teases it will “grind you into dust at the arena,” so maybe that is an AI convention put on by ENCOM (I’m trying avoiding specific spoilers)?

Clone Yourself

Additional set pics show that in the real world, apparently people will be able to clone themselves as an advertisement says “Clone Yourself.”

“Duplicate your business efficiency and make more time for your life with our A.I. assistant app,” states the poster which adds, “Download your platform at the app store.”

Check out the set pics and video on Twitter.

Tron: Ares doesn’t have a release date. The film is directed by Joachim Rønning, with a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow and produced by Jared Leto, Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook. The film also stars Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins and Gillian Anderson.
