The He-Man Masters of the Universe movie at Amazon MGM Studios has cast the villains of the flick with Jared Leto playing Skeletor.
Skeletor, the iconic villain of Masters of the Universe, is a sinister sorcerer with a skull-like face and a muscular blue physique. Once a man named Keldor, his disfigured visage and dark powers are the result of his lust for power and mastery of forbidden magic. As the ruler of Snake Mountain, Skeletor seeks to conquer Eternia and claim Castle Grayskull, believing its secrets will make him invincible. Armed with the Havoc Staff and a cunning intellect, Skeletor combines raw strength, magical prowess, and ruthless ambition, making him He-Man’s most dangerous adversary.
The evil forces of Skeletor
Making up Leto’s evil forces of Skeletor include Sam C. Wilson (House of the Dragon) as Trap Jaw, with Hafthor Bjornsson (The Northman, Game of Thrones) as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah (In the Grey) as Tri-Klops. Alison Brie was also previously announced to be playing Evil-Lyn.
Trap Jaw is a menacing cyborg villain known for his interchangeable mechanical arm and a jaw of steel that can crush anything in its grip. Often serving Skeletor, Trap Jaw is a skilled technician and warrior, making him a formidable foe for He-Man. Goat Man, a lesser-known henchman, has the appearance of a humanoid goat with horns and superhuman strength, often used as Skeletor’s brute force. Tri-Klops is a master swordsman and Skeletor’s technological expert, recognized by his rotating three-eyed visor that grants him abilities like enhanced vision, laser blasts, and tracking.
They’re set to do battle against the most powerful man in the universe, He-Man, being played by Nicholas Galitzine who also will play Prince Adam, joined by his friends, Man-At Arms, played by Idris Elba, and his daughter, Teelah, played by Camila Mendes.
Deadline says the plot is being kept under wraps which, as I have mentioned before, hopefully means they scrapped the original plan to have He-Man crash land on Earth as a young boy and then in his 20s is “whisked away” to battle Skeletor. Not kidding.
10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!
Of course, Jared Leto is known for a plethora of roles including playing Joker and he stars in Disney’s Tron: Ares which gets released on October 10, 2025.
Masters of the Universe films next year and gets released on June 5, 2026. Travis Knight (Bumblebee) is directing from a screenplay by Chris Butler.
