Warner Brosā big screen adaptation of Tomb Raider appears to be another video game bust.
Reviews have beenĀ trickling in to Rotten Tomatoes with about 50% being positive to 50% being negative.
Tomb Raider presently has a 51% Rotten Tomatoes score with 29 Fresh to 27 Rotten.
The negative reviews tend to pick apart the film by stating it feels more like a video game than a movie, while others state itās a flabby, lazy mess, and still others say itās contrived and not satisfying.
The positive reviews offer itās a splendid popcorn flick, has successfully reinvented the character, andĀ Alicia VikanderĀ makes a convincing and strong Lara Croft.
Tomb Raider was written by Captain Marvel writerĀ Geneva Robertson-Dworet, but there probably shouldnāt be any worry for Marvel fans as Captain Marvel is a Marvel Studios film and will have more humor than Tomb Raider, which the Marvel fans seem to show up for.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet actually revealed humorous elements that were cut from Tomb Raider were used for Captain Marvel.
āCaptain MarvelĀ has a very funny voice, and itās more of an action-comedy, more like what we were talking about doing in the first draft I wrote forĀ Tomb Raiderā¦.Ā [but] that tone survived inĀ Captain Marvel,ā Robertson-Dworet explained āI love funny female characters, so asĀ Tomb RaiderĀ got more serious, I got even more committed to the idea ofĀ Captain MarvelĀ being hilarious.ā
Tomb Raider opens Friday.
