The charm offensive worked. Tom Hardy is staying on MobLand.
After weeks of firing reports, a fan revolt, and a reversal we tracked from the start, Deadline reports exclusively that Hardy will return for the expected Season 3 of the Paramount+ hit, continuing to star alongside Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
The London Meeting That Sealed It
This is the resolution to the exact meeting we flagged days ago, when Puck’s Matt Belloni reported Hardy wanted back in and a “charm offensive” was underway in London.
According to Deadline, that sit-down between Hardy, showrunner Jez Butterworth, and executive producer David Glasser went well, with the group reaching what sources called a great understanding about a path forward.
MobLand EP Guy Ritchie was reportedly also involved in patching things up, and the result was Hardy returning full-time.
The friction that started it all was between Hardy and Butterworth during Season 2 production, which reportedly escalated to the point the two could no longer work together, alongside reports of chronic lateness and other issues.
In the weeks since, outreach reopened the door, with Mirren publicly backing Hardy on social media.

Too Big To Mess With
This is exactly the outcome the numbers always pointed to.
MobLand became Paramount+’s second-biggest original series launch ever, behind only Landman, and Harry Da Souza is the show.
As Deadline puts it, the series proved too big and too important to mess with the lead trio’s dynamic that had won over fans.
That logic was the throughline of our coverage the entire time. Recasting the fixer at the center of the Harrigan crime family was never a real option, no matter how many trades ran with the firing story.
The Season 3 writers room had already opened ahead of the Season 2 premiere, and Deadline reports the new season is now being written centered on Harry, Maeve, and Conrad, the characters played by Hardy, Mirren, and Brosnan.
Hardy is believed to have signed a three-year deal from the onset, so his return is straightforward on the contract side.
The one asterisk: MobLand has not been officially renewed yet. But with the lead trio locked and a room already writing, a Season 3 order is expected. When it’s official, you’ll read it here.
