The Boys: Mexico Spinoff Happening At Amazon

So much for superhero fatigue as Amazon Prime Video announces another spinoff from its popular The Boys series with The Boys: Mexico.

This will mark the third spinoff as Gen V recently was released and has already been renewed for Season 2. There is also the The Boys Presents: Diabolical animated series which premiered in March.

Details for The Boys: Mexico include it is being developed by Diego Luna, Gael García Bernal, and Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.

Diego Luna is known for Rogue One: A Star Wars Series, Andor, and Narcos: Mexico. Gael García Bernal is known for Here on Earth, and the pair worked together in Y Tu Mamá También directed by Alfonso Cuarón, and Rudo y Cursi and Casa de Mi Padre.

Via Deadline, Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are executive producing the new series and are also considering taking on acting roles, though it is said neither would be major roles.

The story is currently being kept under wraps, and a search is currently for a co-showrunner to join creator, writer and executive producer Dunnet-Alcocer, who is now working on the script.

It is added The Boys: Mexico which will be filmed in the Latin American country, that they are still working on the budget, and they have yet to begin casting.

The spinoff also comes from the creatores behind the main series, Eric Kripke and his Kripke Enterprises, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures, Neil H. Moritz’s Original Film, Sony Pictures Television, and Amazon MGM Studios.

Prime Video is also ramping up for The Boys Season 4 which is set to premiere in 2024.
