Kevin Feige Updates Thor, Hulk, Spider-Man: Homecoming & More (Video)

At the UK premiere of Captain America: Civil War, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige offers updates on Thor, Hulk, Nick Fury, Spider-Man: Homecoming and explains the Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. scene from the movie.

Worry not, there are no spoilers in the video below.

Regarding Thor and Hulk, Feige says they are not in Civil War, but we’ll learn what happened to them when Thor: Ragnarok hits in November 2017. Feige also said they begin filming in a couple of months.

Feige lets it be known we’ll see Nick Fury in an upcoming movie, but it’s not Thor: Ragnarok.

Feige also says the Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. scene in Captain America: Civil War was actually used for auditions. Robert Downey Jr. auditioned with various young actors using that scene, with Tom Holland being the best choice for the role.

For Spider-Man: Homecoming, Feige reiterates that Marvel has creative control of Spider-Man and says they have a great relationship with Sony.

Tom Hiddleston Wants Loki Vs. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange

While Tom Hiddleston previously stated Thor: Ragnarok might be the last time we see Loki, the good news is that Hiddleston recently hinted that’s not the case, and now says he would like to take on none other than fellow Brit star Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange

“In some hypothetical world, I don’t quite know when, for Loki and Dr. Strange to share the same frame would be very exciting indeed,” Hiddleston told the Daily News. “Because Benedict Cumberbatch is an old friend. So I would think it would be interesting to see who would get the upper hand.”

Hiddleston also again continues with mention of Loki’s future in the MCU, this time stating he knows what’s going on, but doesn’t offer specifics.

“Truthfully, I do actually know at the moment how many more times I’m going to play Loki, but I’m not going to tell you,” said Hiddleston. “It’s not personal it’s just keeping it fresh for all paying customers to enjoy their films. And also I’m the God of mischief so it’s my predisposition to play games.”

Tom Hiddleston will next be seen as Loki in Thor: Ragnarok, which has a November 3, 2017 release.

Watch the new Doctor Strange trailer below. That movie gets released this year on November 4th.

Natalie Portman Said To Be Out Of Thor: Ragnarok

This news shouldn’t be all too surprising if you followed any of the Thor 2 news.

According to the Hollywood trade sites, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will have a new love interest in Thor: Ragnarok, played by Creed star Tessa Thompson.

The character is presently unknown, but Deadline says the character “will be kind of a superhero” and will appear in other Marvel movies.

THR also has it that Jaimie Alexander is returning as Sif for Thor: Ragnarok and that filming starts in June.

Regarding Natalie Portman, it was said a while back she wasn’t happy with Marvel over the ouster of Patty Jenkins from directing Thor: The Dark World, and that Portman was forced to return for the movie that she didn’t originally want to be a part of, but only agreed when Jenkins came on board. Obviously when things went south between Jenkins and Marvel over Thor 2, things went further south between Portman and Marvel. There is also the fact that Thor: Ragnarok looks to be set away from Earth and more in space, so obviously Portman’s Jane Foster wouldn’t come along for the ride.

Thor: Ragnarok has a November 3, 2017 release directed by Taika Waititi also starring Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Cate Blanchett is the rumored villain (possibly Hela).

Star-Lord & Thor Confirmed For Avengers: Infinity War

It’s confirmed the Guardians of the Galaxy – at least one member with Star-Lord – as well as the god of Thunder, Thor, will be appearing in The Avengers: Infinity War.

Joe Russo confirmed the news to the ComicBook.com web site.

On Star-Lord:

The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that’s happened before in the MCU so you don’t want to get into spoilers but I’m a big fan of what James Gunn has done. [Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you’d be very excited.

On Thor:

I’m excited to work with Thor. They’re doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he’s gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he’s gonna have a real emotional motivation after that.

It remains to be seen whether or not any of the other Guardians of the Galaxy characters make their way to Avengers: Infinity War. Interestingly enough, a while back a former Marvel employee that worked on the comic book told Cosmic Book News he/she expected the Guardians to be cannon fodder for Thanos.

And now we also know Thor survives Thor: Ragnarok.

The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 has a May 4, 2018 release followed by Part 2 on May 3, 2019 directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Good News: Tom Hiddleston Hints At More Loki

About a week ago saw Tom Hiddleston imply that Thor: Ragnarok might be his last Marvel movie.

Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years,” Hiddleston said, as quoted by the Daily Beast. “I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.”

Now, however, that might simply have been Loki playing mind games with everyone.

In a new interview, Tom Hiddleston tells Hybable, “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet,” offering he doesn’t really want to spoil what’s going on with Marvel and Loki:

Honestly, Marco, I don’t know. It’s very difficult to be precise and specific in ways that people would like me to be. I understand the enthusiasm and the curiosity in the complexity and the detail of the Marvel universe as it transpires in movies. But I’m careful to feed that curiosity because I worry that in spite of the enthusiasm it diminishes the movies. If you know everything going in I just don’t want to know that information so I’m very hesitant to put it out there. I don’t want to spoil it for anybody. I knew about two years before it happened that Clark Gregg was killed in The Avengers and if I had ever let that information out it would have completely ruined the experience of watching The Avengers. So to your point, I may or may not know how many times I’m going to play Loki again but I’m not going to tell you. I’m not trying to be difficult.

When it comes to my relationship with Marvel, whenever I have said something it usually becomes expanded and misshapen and it then has no bearing to what I originally said at all. I have a pretty good sense of what my future with Marvel is but I don’t think it’s worth telling anyone because it may change. They are very smart over there and like any creative process, they are free to change their minds. Throughout the Marvel universe Loki has changed from movie to movie. Sometimes he’s even changed in the middle of movies in ways you may not even know.

Tom Hiddleston returns as Loki for Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017.

Jaimie Alexander Blasts DC Movies: No Character

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24377:]]

Lady Sif has a few choice words for the DC Comics movies.

In an interview with Variety, Alexander, while talking potentially being up for Wonder Woman, says Marvel is doing a better job at character development than DC, and that character comes first for Marvel with all the action second.

Here’s the blurb:

Not at all. I’m excited to see what she’s going to do with the role. I was one of a few people that were an obvious choice for Wonder Woman, but it was never going to happen. I’m contracted with Marvel and it would (be) strange. Sif, in her way, is Marvel’s Wonder Woman. They’re both ethereal and have armor and a sword, and have special abilities; the physicality of the role is very similar. The thing I really enjoy about Marvel is that they start with a character first and all the explosions and costumes, the glitz and glam, are secondary to who the actual character is deep down. That’s something I haven’t really been able to find with DC Comics. I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s been my experience.

Jaimie Alexander also goes on to say she is a big fan of comics books, as well as Wonder Woman, and that no one will be better than Lynda Carter.

I’m a huge comic book fan, and I’ve read a lot from all different comic book outlets. I enjoy Marvel, and I’m not just saying that because I’m in the “Thor” films. I gravitate towards the Marvel characters. Of course, growing up I really loved Linda Carter as Wonder Woman; there will never be a better Wonder Woman. I was also a huge fan of Sigourney Weaver. Walt Simonson told me that his version of Lady Sif was very much modeled after seeing Sigourney Weaver walk down the New York streets in a red trench coat. I thought, ‘Oh, well she’s my favorite, so that’s perfect. That’s just so perfect for me.’

Regarding Sif, who hopefully returns for Thor: Ragnarok, Alexander offers:

I genuinely love the character Sif. Each time I get to play her, there’s this growth in the character and we find out more of who she is. That is a blast, because I’ve been able to slowly create this woman while still taking directions from all the comic books that existed before my performance. It’s interesting that Sif has such a big backstory, whereas Jane has no backstory at all; they’re very opposite while at the same time both very tough and vulnerable. It’s a bit of a niche for me, I guess.

Thor 3 Rumors Include Heimdall, Final Battle & More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24259:]]

Another batch of Thor: Ragnarok rumors has hit the net.

Obvious spoiler warning if proven to be legit.

It’s been previously rumored that Thor 3 will feature Cate Blanchett as the villainess Hela who will team with Loki to battle Thor. In the battle, Hela destroys Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, and banishes Thor, which leads to another rumor in the film — Planet Hulk.

Now Latino Review is potentially adding more pieces to the puzzle, which involves Idris Elba’s Heimdall.

According to the report, Hela kills Heimdall in the battle, with Heimdall ending up in Hel (the underworld).

However, it’s said that is not all we see from Heimdall as Heimdall will be featured in the final battle in the movie between Thor (probably the Hulk, too) and the forces of Hela.

It’s said Hela will feature an army of the undead doing battle with the good Valkyries from Valhalla and the souls of the righteous fallen, which includes Heimdall.

The report also mentions Hela will not only be threatening Asgard, but the entire universe, and also make mention of Thor: Ragnarok being the last solo Thor movie.

“Thor: Ragnarok” has a November 3, 2017 release.

TV Fan Blasts Marc Guggenheim “Over Slap To The Face” Because Of Suicide Squad Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24214:]]

I always love when I hear executives state the movies don’t affect the comics or TV universes.

Case in point: Current Marvel Comics EIC Axel Alonso regularly states the movies don’t affect the comics. We know that isn’t true as Matt Fraction stated the Thor movie interfered with how he wrote his Thor comic; we know Abnett and Lanning were kicked off their Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova comics because of Gunn’s film; we know the Inhumans are replacing the X-Men, and we know Marvel Comics cancelled the Fantastic Four because of the Fox movie. We also know the last ten or so years has seen Marvel Comics focus on the Avengers, and not the X-Men. And Steve Roger is returning as Captain America.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24220:]]

Regarding the DC Comics, legendary creator George Perez was pretty clear when he stated the Man of Steel people messed with his New 52 Superman comic, which is why he left.

And we also know the same happens with the DC TV universe.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24223:]]

Because of the Suicide Squad movie, Deadshot is “off the table,” Harley Quinn was shelved, and with the recent death of Amanda Waller in Arrow, it’s easy to guess the same thing happened with her character. Batman and Superman are also off limits for the Flash and Arrow universe, and Arrow couldn’t use Blue Beetle, so they went with Atom instead. Now it’s learned Deadstroke is also shelved (see below).

We can also speculate as a result of the new Green Lantern Corps movie, that now Green Lantern is also off limits.

There has been some online chatter amongst fans asking why this is the case — as the DC execs regularly state the movie and TV universes are separate. Zack Snyder recently said more of the same. So why then can’t they have the same characters? If I had to guess, my answer as to why the TV characters are being shelved is not to compete with their movie counterparts. We can probably thank Grant Gustin’s Flash for that. I’ve said it before, I think DC has finally found their “Spider-Man” with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and The Flash. The series is popular amongst casual fans, young fans, hard core fans and older fans (WB really needs to start heavily promoting Gustin and the series). I think WB is going to find it difficult to sell the Ezra Miller Flash to the fanbase. We see they have already started spinning that we should accept Miller because there are different universes. Ezra Miller has probably been coached on the topic as in interviews he’s mentioned multiple realities/universes/dimensions. The controversy has even caused Grant Gustin to come out and tell fans that he supports Miller.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24218:]]

Now executive producer Marc Guggenheim is feeling the heat as fans asked and complained on Tumblr about the TV characters getting the axe, specifically the Arrow Suicide Squad characters with Deadshot, Deathstroke and Amanda Waller.

Fan #1: Any possible chance of either Slade or Walter returning throughout the rest of Season 4? #Arrow

MG: The character of Slade Wilson is currently tied up in another DC project.  Walter is more likely.

Fan #2: You said that only Deadshot was off-limits, and Amanda Waller & Deathstroke are safe. But you guys killed Waller off just like that, and she doesn’t seem like she will ever return(Because bullet to head). Who’s next to be killed off? Katana? Once Deathstroke arrives in the DC movie, will he be also killed off too? This is really frustrating, that all awesome characters are being written off, because of the Suicide Squad movie, and is a slap to the face of Arrow fans.

MG: Um… I never said that.

Arrow‘s Stephen Amell, who may just be as frustrated as a lot of fans are (Amell has been vocal about wanting to be in Justice League with Gustin as the movie Flash), recently stated in an interview he thinks Arrow is missing Deathstroke.

“Manu [Bennett] is a character, and Manu played a great character. And I really honestly think that Arrow has been missing something since he hasn’t been around. I really do. He was a transformative villain. I would really love it if Deathstroke could keep being a part of the Arrow universe,” Amell said.

Sorry to say, Stephen, per Guggenheim’s words, that isn’t going to be the case. Let’s just hope Green Arrow doesn’t appear in the DCCU any time soon, eh?

Thor 3 & The Avengers: Infinity Wars Will Feel Like A Hulk Standalone Movie Says Ruffalo

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24083:]]

While there will be no standalone Hulk movie because the rights are not owned by Marvel Studios, Mark Ruffalo eases fans concerns as the actor lets it be known the Hulk will have an epic role to come in Thor: Ragnarok as well as The Avengers: Infinity War movies.

Ruffalo tells Yahoo the three films will actually make it seem as if the Hulk has a standalone film (which must mean the Green Goliath is featured rather prominently).

“I’d love to do a Hulk movie, but that’s beyond my control,” he said. “It’s controlled by Universal. Marvel doesn’t even hold the rights to it. So, it’s not on the horizon. And I don’t know if it will be.”

But we’ve worked a really interesting arc into ‘Thor 3′, ‘Avengers 3′ and ‘4′ for Banner that I think will – when it’s all added up – will feel like a Hulk movie, a standalone movie.

On Thor 3:

“Taika Waititi’s coming in and I love him. That’s a surprise and it fits part of this Marvel doing the unexpected, casting the unexpected, and now bringing in the unexpected for writer and director. I’m really interested in where that’s going.

“They’re writing the script now. I am thinking about it, I’m doing script meetings and stuff so we’re starting to prep it.”

The most recent rumors surrounding Thor: Ragnarok indicate some sort of adaptation of the Planet Hulk comic book. Is it possible following Thor 3 that Marvel Studios adapts the World War Hulk storyline as well?

Planet Hulk Rumored For Thor 3

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23992:]]

More rumors surface for Thor: Ragnarok, this time dealing with the Hulk who will be a part of the movie.

A Planet Hulk movie has been rumored for some time, but has consistently been shot down because Marvel doesn’t even own the rights to Hulk standalone films.

Well, Marvel Studios may have found a way of including Planet Hulk in Thor 3 (or at least an adaptation).

Potential spoilers follow.

Once again, according to Geek.com, this is how the Hulk and Planet Hulk will be utilized in Thor: Ragnarok:

• Hela teams up with Loki

• Hela destroys Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir

• Thor gets banished to a gladiator world (Sakaar in the comics)

• Thor shaves his head and is forced to fight for his life in the arena (minus Mjolnir)

• Thor manages to defeat all his opponents

• Thor then has to face the champion of the arena – the Hulk

• It’s said the Hulk has not reverted back to Banner in a while which causes the Banner personality to seep out (it’s also unknown how Hulk got to the the planet)

• Hulk/Banner remembers Thor, leading the two to team up and head back to take on Hela and Loki

You can read a further batch of possible Thor: Ragnarok details here which includes more of Hela as well as Odin.

Hela Rumored For Thor: Ragnarok & More

It’s being said that Hela will be the villain of Thor: Ragnarok, most likely played by Cate Blanchett as Mark Ruffalo previously let it slip she is playing a big baddie.

According to Geek.com, Hela will be similar to her comic book counterpart (ruler of Hel and the realm of Niflheim) and will make her way to Asgard where she will be in “cahoots with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.”

Details include:

• Hela might replace Death in the MCU (which may mean Thanos is in love with Hela and the two battle the Marvel heroes in Avengers Infinity War).

• Hela and Loki’s plan (currently unknown) will have well been underway before Thor realizes what’s going on.

• It’s said Hela is responsible for an incident which leads Thor on a journey in the film.

• Thor gets banished from Asgard.

• Hela destroys Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir.

• Odin (which sees Anthony Hopkins return) has fled to Earth where he wanders around as a “end is near” crazy-looking street-corner hobo warning of the coming Apocalypse (Ragnarok).

Thor: Ragnarok Is A Universal Road Movie Says Mark Ruffalo

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23931:]]

Empire caught up with Mark Ruffalo, who is currently promoting his latest movie Spotlight, and chatted with the actor about Thor: Ragnarok, which sees Ruffalo back as Banner and the Hulk.

Ruffalo said Thor 3 is a “road movie” (meaning a movie which sees the main character traveling, and/or on some sort of journey of self-discovery, etc.) and compared the film to the 1988 Midnight run movie starring Charles Grodin and Robert De Niro.

“There’s a little bit of Midnight Run, with [Charles] Grodin and [Robert] De Niro.  I feel like that’s kind of where we’re heading with this relationship between Thor and Banner. It is a universal road movie – that’s where we’re heading. It’s not where you’d think it will be, so it’s not your classic road movie but it has that structure, I think.”

Ruffalo also commented about working with fellow Avenger, Chris Hemsworth.

“I love Chris [Hemsworth], and it’s not an accident that we’ve been put together because we have a good time together and we goof off. The fact that we’re moving towards the smart-comedic bent plays into our relationship.”

And Ruffalo confirms Hulk will be on Asgard: “[Am I looking forward to that?] Hells, yeah.”

Mark Ruffalo also revealed Thor: Ragnarok will be shot in Sydney, Australia.

“Thor: Ragnarok” has a November 3, 2017 release directed by Taika Waititi.

Cate Blanchett is said to be in talks for a “bad ass” character in Thor: Ragnarok, and now she might be confirmed for the movie as Mark Ruffalo may have let it slip she’s playing a villain in the movie.

ETOnline caught up with Mark Ruffalo at the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party on Saturday and asked him about Blanchett.

“Cate Blanchett is supposed to be at the BAFTA event day, your Thor 3 co-star, I believe,” ET asked. “What can you tell us about the movie. Are you excited to work with her?”

“I’m so thrilled. I saw her at the Governors’ banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, ‘Please, please, please make this work!'” Ruffalo replied. “She’s just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting.”

Cate Blanchett also previously joked with Jimmy Kimmel she was playing a female Thor.

“Yes. Chris Hemsworth is busy, so I’ve bee working out,” Blanchett replied to being asked if she is in Thor 3.

Kimmel then questioned if that is a confirmation, to which Blanchett said, “They are just subsituting one Australian for another. Gender equality. Why can’t you have a female Thor?”

Thor: Ragnarok Will Feature Less Earth Says Feige

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23638:]]

Good news, Cosmic fans!

Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige lets it be known that Thor: Ragnarok will feature less of Earth.

Speaking with Empire Magazine, Feige says: “The film will take place in the cosmos primarily, which is to say, frankly, very little Earth.”

Honestly, I’m glad Thor 3 will be more cosmic and keep Thor in space as I wasn’t too happy with how they portrayed Thor recently on Earth in Avengers 2 (comic relief).

Feige also had more to say about Ragnarok: “I don’t think people will read into that title alone what the movie’s gong to be. It’s going to be perhaps as tonally different from the two prior Thor movies as Winter Soldier was from the first Captain America. We want to take it to new places, we’ve got new characters that will show how big we’re swinging on this. And we have a Hulk.”

Sounds Like Merged Smart Hulk Is Coming In Thor: Ragnarok Or Avengers: Infinity War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23458:]]

We may see a merged smart form of the Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok or even The Avengers: Infinity War movies.

Ruffalo previously teased that Banner and the Hulk would have a confrontation, and now Ruffalo talks about the two merging.

As fans of the comic books know, at times Banner and the Hulk have merged or one has over taken the other (due to various factors).

Speaking with AICN, Ruffalo offered the following:

He’s on the run. I think that we carry that through. It’s not just a matter of taking himself to some remote place and hiding. Now he’s removing himself from humanity altogether. I’m not sure where we’re going to head with that, but I’m sure that’s probably still very much alive within him. It’s very subtle, but the Banner/Hulk consciousness is beginning to meld a little bit. Who decided to leave? Was it Banner or Hulk? It’s not really in the [cinematic] mythology of Hulk up until that moment to be that conscious and pro-active. It’s interesting, right?”

“Yeah, I think it [will be fun]. I think it’s really exciting where we could go with it. Now I feel like we’re kind of in No Man’s Land. I mean, the comic books have kind of broached the subject, but we’re moving away from the traditional Hulk/Banner relationship. We’re starting to mess with it a little bit. Now we’re going to see how far we can push the limits of it before people get sick of it!”

The merged version (or a one-sided version) of the Hulk on the big screen would be interesting as it could mean the introduction of the Green Scar, the Hulk from Planet Hulk and World War Hulk.

The merged version of the Hulk also brings up memories of the Peter David 1990s version (one of my favorites), which I consider more a superhero version of the Hulk, aka Prof. Hulk (and who also appeared in Infinity Gauntlet). I actually had Peter David sign my issue of Incredible Hulk #377 at the recent NYCC that featured the first Banner/Grey/ Green merged Hulk and asked him if he thought we would ever see that version in a movie. He said he doubted it and added this one of his favorite versions of the Hulk, too.

“Thor: Ragnarok” hits November 3, 2017.
