The Walking Dead’s Star-Crossed Lovers

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19200:]]

Love Is Strange

By: Chris “The DOC” Bushley

Warning Spoilers Dead Ahead

With Cupid slinging arrows and plastic wrapped boxes of chocolates piled throughout every store, it’s safe to say that Valentine’s Day is quickly upon us. As you waded through crowds to pick out just the perfect card for your loved ones, you may have missed that the world of comics was full of romance as well. Miss Harley Quinn was paying an awful lot of money to get Bruce Wayne in the boudoir, Silk and Spidey were content to just hold each other after the events of the epic Spider-Verse conclusion and Barry Allen was dealing with some second date “quickness” issues on the CW’s The Flash! But none of the romantic scenario’s can compare to the tale of first love in the pages of The Walking Dead #137.

Throughout the past few months, Robert Kirkman has taken his cast of survivors and launched them two years into the future. Rick Grimes and company have established a world of peace, inner trade and prosperity but nothing has changed more than Carl Grimes and his onset of puberty. He has decided to become his own man and, with the blessing of his father, has taken up an apprenticeship and moved to the Hilltop. There he is reunited with his best friend, Sofia, and they spend almost every waking moment together. But alas, their budding feelings are put on hold as both of them are attacked by two boys, and as Carl runs away, they continue to pummel Sofia. The “knight in shinning eye patch” returns with a shovel and nearly kills the boys before he picks up Sofia and runs for help. Carl’s valiant save of Sofia changes the entire dynamic of the Hilltop however as the boys’ parents call for brutal retribution for the beatings and Maggie, leader of the Hilltop, places Carl in jail to appease the masses. While there, Carl befriends a fellow prisoner, Lydia, a pretty girl that is a member of the Whisperers, a roaming group of people that wear the flesh of others so they can blend in with the walkers. Lydia is there because she was part of a group that killed some of the Hilltop’s patrolmen. As things progress, a friendship blooms between these two imprisoned teens and eventually Carl gives her his father’s hat as a reminder that you can get through anything. Eventually, both Carl and Lydia are released and Carl is solely responsible for Lydia’s actions while she is free. So, like most new friendships, he threatens to kill her if she harms anyone. As the day winds down, the two teens from different lifestyles , settle upon a quiet hilltop on the outskirts of town. Hormones rise to the surface and Lydia tells Carl she likes him and Carl reciprocates. She asks him why he wears glasses with an eyepatch covering one lens, Carl cringes and asks her not to touch the glasses, that it is gross and doesn’t want her to see. Lydia finally steals the glasses and sees Carl’s damaged face and hollow eye socket. But instead of being repulsed, she gently licks the socket and exclaims, “I think it’s sexy.” Appalled and confused, Carl lets Lydia lay him down and the two star-crossed lovers take the final step in changing Carl from a boy to a man.

Nothing says,”I love you” like a good ol‘ eye socket lick! Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

Stephen Amell Talks Potential Arrow Crossovers With Supergirl & More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19088:]]

Star of Arrow, Stephen Amell, recently attended the Dallas Comic-Con where he talked about potential crossovers with other shows.

A fan recorded the QnA, which you can watch below.

Here are some excerpts, which looks to include a potential spoiler as Amell seemingly confirms The Lazarus Pit.

On Supergirl:

It would be cool to crossover with Supergirl because it’s something with Greg Berlanti who is the helmer and sort of the brain trust, or the center of the brain trust of Arrow and The Flash, and I know so many of the people that are involved in the production of the show, so that would be really interesting.

Gotham:

Gotham would be a tough one, just beacuse I think they’re out in a different time, but the crossover with The Flash was so much fun and did so well that I can’t imagine a world – a universe (no pun intended) – where that didn’t happen and continue to happen all the time.

Constantine:

It would be interesting to cross over with Constantine, only because he knows a lot about the Lazarus Pit, which is something that we’ve introduced in the show this year.

Amell also talks fighting Ra’s al Ghul and its affect on Oliver and more in the video below.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8pm ET on the CW.

Tonight’s Flash Features Huge “Superman II Fight”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18813:]]

Slight spoilers for tonight’s return of The Flash, but more than likely the details will just get you more excited to watch.

Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg let loose a few details about tonight’s episode, which is said to include a huge fight reminiscent of the big Superman II fight on the streets that reveals The Flash to the world.

“The Flash does this knockdown, drag out Superman II fight in the streets with the rogues, and everyone sees The Flash,” Kreisberg told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s no longer an urban myth. He can’t be dismissed. The world starts to change and is starting to have to accept that there are these crazy things out there. That will have repercussions going back into Starling City as the world starts to change.”

The episode, titled “Revenge of the Rogues,” features Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold teaming with Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave.

“It’s the first time villains have said ‘our goal this week is to kill The Flash,'” Kreisberg offered.

So with the Rogues after Flash, will The Flash be prepared? Grant Gustin hints that The Flash might be distracted following the events that went down with the mid-season finale.

“He’s thinking about Reverse Flash after the last episode,” Gustin said.

“The Flash” airs tonight at 8pm ET on the CW.

Spoiler Confirmed As Reverse Flash, But There’s More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18709:]]

With today’s announcement that The Flash has been renewed for a Season 2 comes with it the identity of the Reverse Flash.

Dr. Harrison Wells, played by Tom Cavanagh, is the Reverse Flash.

“He’s the man in the yellow suit. Yes, I am Reverse Flash,” Cavanagh revealed during The CW’s Television Critics Association’s panel, reports EW.com

While Cavanagh revealed he was the Reverse Flash, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg adds something that doesn’t quite fit as he suggests there is another Reverse Flash.

“We’re going to see what happened that night [Barry’s mother was murdered] from the Reverse Flash’s point of view,” Kreisberg said. “I didn’t say it was from Wells’ point of view, I said it was from the Reverse Flash’s point of view.”

It’s possible a second Reverse Flash might be Eddie Thawne, played by Rick Cosnett, as the same episode saw the Reverse Flash hesitate in striking Eddie, and Thawne is the character in the DC comics as well.

“His name is not an accident,” Kreisberg said. “Eddie’s connection to the Reverse Flash lore is going to pay off big time in the back half of the year.”

It’s also reported that Cavanagh stated “there is just one Reverse Flash,” which has started speculation that Wells and Thawne might actually be one and the same person, with Wells a future version of Thawne (or how about from a different Earth ala “Crisis”?).

“The Flash” returns Tuesday, January 20th at 8pm ET on the CW.

Vixen Animated Series Announced In Same Universe As The Flash & Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18704:]]

The CW has added another DC Comics character to its roster with Vixen, which will be an animated series set in the same universe as The Flash and Arrow.

KSite TV revealed that Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim will be overseeing the project, with the series set to debut in the Fall.

Inhereting her family’s Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals — anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from the threats like those that claimed her family.”

Update: Vixen will launch on the CW’s digital offshoot Seed in the Fall.
