Ezra Miller Teases Flash Grant Gustin Crossover

Ezra Miller is playing The Flash in the DC movies, and Grant Gustin plays The Flash on TV.

The two worlds are considered separate universes, but if you are a fan of The Flash, that’s never stopped him before.

Season 2 of The Flash saw Grant Gustin as Barry Allen travelling to an alternate Earth where he met another version of himself.

Likewise, Ezra Miller teased racing The Flash last Summer, so anything is possible.

“I’m not avoiding [The Flash TV series]. I’m not avoiding it at all,” Gustin told MTV back in July of 2015. “I think it’s awesome. Yeah. I think it’s awesome. And come on. We’re The Flash. It’s parallel universes. Grant Gustin is The Flash, and I’m The Flash. Don’t you see it’s the event horizon. We crossed it baby. Grant and I are chillin.’ We’re gonna have a race! It’s going to be dope! Like Jay Garrick and Barry Allen back in the day! It’s going to be dope!”

MTV caught up again with Ezra Miller this past week where the Justice League Flash teased racing Grant Gustin a second time.

“He’s a boss,” Miller said. “I can’t wait to see him, eye to eye, adrift in the Speed Force — our eyes will lock and, in that moment, we will both know the truth. What truth? I dare not say.”

Grant Gustin also recently reacted to the Ezra Miller Justice League costume that debuted in the new trailer offering it was “sick” and more.

Ezra Miller stars as Barry Allen and The Flash in “Justice League” which has a November 17, 2017 release. “The Flash” movie hits March 16, 2018 directed by Rick Famuyiwa. Grant Gustin returns for “The Flash” Season 3 this October on The CW.

No Batman or Constantine For CW DC TV

A couple of weeks ago saw a rumor hit that suggested both Constantine and Batman would be a part of the CW DC TV universe.

Now EP Greg Berlanti is stating that’s not the case.

At the Television Critics Association press tour, Berlanti said, “We haven’t had any conversations with them about Constantine. Constantine exists in a certain place in the DC world and universe. They’re kind of internally examining what they want to do with that character next.”

Berlanti mentioning they are internally examining what they are going to do with Constantine may suggest the character could be featured in the DC movies.

Regarding Batman on the CW, Berlanti shot down the rumors of using Batman, Batwoman and Oracle, and said they are “completely baseless.”

Berlanti said there are currently no plans to include Batman characters in Arrow, Supergirl or any of the Arrowverse shows.

The original rumor mentioned that Fox owned the Batman rights and would have to share the Batman rights for a fee, so it’s possible Fox may have scoffed at the idea.

Joss Whedon Rumored To Direct The Flash & Supergirl

Joss Whedon may be jumping ship over to DC.

According to a new rumor, Joss Whedon is going to direct The Flash and Supergirl musical crossover episodes, which was announced yesterday.

The rumor may have some merit as Whedon recently let it be known that he is a big fan of The Flash series, and Grant Gustin also recently said he wants Joss Whedon to direct an episode of The Flash.

Whedon also previously directed musical episodes for Buffy and Glee; the latter saw both Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist star in the series.

The villain of The Flash and Supergirl musical crossover is also rumored to be the Music Meiser, which was a character created for the Batman: The Brave and The Bold animated series musical episode. It’s also suggested Neil Patrick Harris may play the role as Harris voiced Music Meiser and also was featured in Whedon’s Dr. Horrible Sing-Along musical.

Hopefully if the rumor turns out to be true, this is a sign that things between Joss Whedon and WB are mending as there has been bad blood between the two over years back when Whedon was involved with various Wonder Woman and Batman projects. Bringing Joss Whedon over to the DCEU wouldn’t be a bad thing at all as well.

Joss Whedon recently parted ways with Marvel following The Avengers 2, with Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter’s interference said to be the blame; however, with Kevin Feige booting Perlmutter from Marvel Studios, now Whedon has said he would still like to do work for Marvel Studios again and even said he wouldn’t mind directing a Black Widow movie.

The Flash Season 3 Villains Revealed

The villains of The Flash Season 3 stand revealed.

In addition to Dr. Alchemy who was revealed to be a baddie during The Flash Comic-Con trailer, today at the Television Critics Association press tour it’s revealed the speedster Savitar will be another villain for The Flash Season 3 who will do battle with Barry Allen, with the actor yet to be cast.

In the comics, Dr. Alchemy is chemist Albert Desmond who suffers a multiple identity disorder with one being a scientist and the other a criminal. Prior to becoming Dr. Alchemy, Desmond was called Mr. Element as he wielded an element gun that affects the structure of elements. Eventually, Desmond would become Dr. Alechemy, who with the power of the Philosopher’s Stone, could transmute elements and often battled The Flash.

Savitar, in the comics, is a former Eastern Bloc military pilot who adopts the name Savitar after the Hindu god of motion when his plane is struck down by lightning, thought to be the speed force. Savitar realizes he has super speed and becomes obsessed with knowing everything he can about the speed force, which includes attempting to steal other speedster’s speed, and he even forms a cult.

The Flash and Supergirl To Have Musical Crossover

Prior to starring in The Flash and Supergirl, both Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist starred in the musical TV series Glee.

Now at the Television Critics Association press tour, it’s learned the two shows will have a musical crossover.

“Yes, there will be a musical crossover,” executive producer Greg Berlanti confirmed. “There’s going to be a musical pair of episodes in the back half of the year between Supergirl and Flash.”

Regarding the music the pair will be singing, Berlanti offered,”I think they’re going to be mostly preexisting songs.”

EW.com also notes a lot of The Flash and Supergirl cast have musical talents, which also includes Jesse L. Martin and Jeremy Jordan.

“Some of you may know my own personal love of musicals and actors who have been in them, and we have a number of people who can sing across all the shows who will be making some very exciting appearances in the back half of the year,” Berlanti said. “I’ve probably been leading the charge myself just because my own nexus of loving musicals and loving superheroes,” Berlanti said. “So many times it’s a musical episode off the set, and I think on all the shows, we love to use all of the character talents as much as possible. We’ve toyed with who potentially the villain could kind of be. My sense is we’ll be very careful about how it is they kind of break into song and there will probably be an element of being in some character’s head at the time.”

(Note: This is a different crossover than the planned four-series crossover between The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.)

CW Announces Freedom Fighters: The Ray Digital Animated Series

Following Vixen, The CW has announced a second animated DC series for its digital network, CW Seed, with Freedom Fighters: The Ray.

Full details below.

“FREEDOM FIGHTERS: THE RAY” COMING TO CW SEED IN 2017

August 11, 2016 (Beverly Hills, Calif.) – CW Seed, the digital channel of The CW Network, will debut a new animated series in 2017, FREEDOM FIGHTERS: THE RAY, based on the characters from DC and produced by Warner Bros.’ digital studio Blue Ribbon Content.

In DC’s Multiversity series, writer Grant Morrison updated the Freedom Fighters to better reflect American demographics. Inspired by Morrison’s new take on the character, the series FREEDOM FIGHTERS: THE RAY will introduce the first gay Super Hero to lead a show.

Based on the characters from DC, FREEDOM FIGHTERS: THE RAY is from Berlanti Productions in association with Blue Ribbon Content, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Supergirl,” “The Flash,” “Arrow”) and Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”).

ABOUT THE RAY:

Raymond “Ray” Terrill was a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the project head exposed Ray to a “genetic light bomb.” The bomb failed to kill him and instead gifted Ray with light-based powers. With these abilities, Ray realized he could go beyond reporting on injustice – he could take action to help stop it. Calling himself The Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression wherever it exists.

Jai Courtney Didn’t Know About Flash In Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad included surprise cameos by members of the Justice League, which also turns out to be a surprise for Jai Courtney.

The movie revealed the background stories for the members of the Suicide Squad and how each Squaddie was caught. For Jai Courtney’s Boomerang, it was revealed The Flash had captured Boomerang during an armed robbery; however, Jai Courtney lets it be known that he only learned about The Flash after watching the movie.

“I didn’t f—ing know that was happening when we were filming. That was a surprise for me when I saw the film,” Jai Courtney told Business Insider.

Courtney continues with mention of how the scene was originally written in the Suicide Squad script.

“It was written like we didn’t really know,” Courtney said. “But it’s part of the roundup of the squad, so my interpretation was that he had been taken out by [Rick] Flag’s crew. But it’s not specified [in the script]. When I saw it, I was like, of course!”

The article notes that Jai Courtney filmed the scene with a green screen (and we can surmise with Ezra Miller filming The Flash separately and then added in post-production), with Courtney going on to talk how it’s a good thing that everything comes together.

“Totally. It was just a nice little thread. That’s what’s cool about all this,” Courtney said. “The potential for that to happen over the course of wherever all this goes is there. The relationships between these characters and different characters in other properties, too. The fact that we can all get into bed and mix it up, the future is bright in that sense.”

“Suicide Squad” is now in theaters directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.

Synopsis:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Supervillains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Spoiler Flash Season 3 Set Images

A couple of slight spoilers land online out of Vancouver in the form of The Flash Season 3 set images.

The pics reveal Barry Allen smooching with the long time love of his life, Iris West.

Recall that the Season 2 finale saw Barry and Iris almost get together, but then Barry went back in time to save his mother, which will be the cause of all the timeline changes affecting Season 3 with Flashpoint.

It obviously appears one of those changes may be that Barry and Iris get together, which is what also happened in the alternate Earth-2 universe as the two were married.

Regarding why Barry didn’t get together with Iris at the end of Season 2, Grant Gustin recently revealed that the reason Barry traveled back in time was because he felt empty inside, especially when he heard those words from Iris.

It’s thought the additional changes with Flashpoint bringing Barry’s family back will mean Barry is the most happiest he’s ever been — in any universe. Barry might not even be The Flash as Wally West is confirmed as playing Kid Flash.

The bad guy of The Flash Season 3 is also unknown, but Gustin did previously tease it’s not a metahuman. Some sort of Black Flash has been spotted on set, but it’s unknown how the Speedster will play into things or even if he’s the “Death” Flash from the comics.

“The Flash” Season 3 returns on The CW Tuesday, October 4th at 8pm ET.

Watch: How The CW Batman Could Connect To Gotham

About two weeks ago saw a rumor hit the net stating that Batman might be coming to The CW DC TV universe.

It’s speculated that WB has lifted their mandate on not sharing movie and TV characters due to Geoff Johns getting promoted to President of DC Entertainment, which may be the reason Superman is now a part of Supergirl.

If you think about it, it makes sense for WB to use the same characters across both their movie and television universes as – the obvious –  they are popular. Just think if Marvel also had a live-action Spider-Man TV show? Cha-Ching. And we see how successful The Flash TV series is, right?

That said, if Batman does show up on The CW, how are they going to incorporate the Caped Crusader into their universe?

The previous rumor made mention that Fox currently owns the Batman TV rights, which is tied up with Gotham. It’s said that Fox may share Batman for some sort of fee enabling The CW to use the Dark Knight; so if it does happen, it may make sense to connect The CW version of Batman to Fox’s Gotham.

Check out the video below by TheMrDarkPhoenix on YouTube suggesting just that — that The CW Batman is the same person as the Bruce Wayne from Gotham.

The Dark Phoenix also recommends Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles as The CW Batman, which might not be another bad choice.

More To The Flash Season 3 Than Flashpoint Says Grant Gustin

The Season 2 finale of The Flash saw Barry go back in time to save his mother which will impact Season 3 as the timeline has been altered.

The title of the first episode of Season 3 is “Flashpoint,” which fans will recognize as the similar DC Comics storyline.

Talking at Comic-Con with Kevin Smith and IMDb, Grant Gustin reveals why Barry went back in time.

“People were like, ‘Why did he do that?’ And I think that he wasn’t going to do that, but I think that sitting on that porch, having just defeated Zoom, Iris says to Barry what he’s always wanted to hear, and he feels empty inside,” explained Gustin. “That was the moment… As selfish as it was that Barry wanted his parents, I think it’s more about ‘these two speedsters took away their life because of me and they deserve to have a chance at life. I can’t do this, I need to give them that chance.'”

Supergirl has also come over to The CW for its Season 2, and Kevin Smith asked The Flash cast if any of the first few Season 3 scripts have mentioned Kara Danvers. Gustin says the scripts haven’t and offers The Flash Season 3 isn’t totally about Flashpoint (note: The CW announced a mega DC TV crossover which will feature Supergirl).

“Not yet,” Gustin responded when asked if a Supergirl storyline was involved in the first few Flash Season 3 scripts. “It’s pretty Flashpoint focused right now, which I think we are going to see the repercussions coming out of Flashpoint. There will be ramifications all season long from Flashpoint.”

Smith then asks if it’s an all-season Flashpoint.

“I think we can state Flashpoint does not last all season long,” Gustin said. “But there are permanent ramifications.”

“The Flash” Season 3 premiers Tuesday, October 4th also starring Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Keiynan Lonsdale and Tom Felton.

Grant Gustin Reacts To Ezra Miller The Flash Justice League Costume

The recent Justice League Comic-Con trailer saw the debut of the Ezra Miller costume for The Flash.

At Comic-Con, Newsarama caught up with Grant Gustin, the TV Flash (separate universes), and got his reaction to the footage.

“Oh man, I haven’t seen this. I heard they might show it today, but I hadn’t seen it. That’s sick. I thought they might make it look like of like Injustice.”

“It’s totally different from our costume. I like that our costume is more of the classic version. That’s something I don’t think you’ll see anywhere else.”

We see Grant Gustin notes the Ezra Miller costume resembles the one from the popular Injustice: Gods Among Us video game which features The Flash wearing more of an armored costume. The Flash cameo in Batman Vs. Superman seemed to futher resemble Injustice, with the Justice League movie Flash costume toned down a bit from that.

Per Gustin’s words, it also seems that the movies won’t be going with the classic costume for The Flash, which is a good thing and keeps the TV series a part and unique from the Ezra Miller version (best of both worlds).

Grant Gustin returns in October on The CW for The Flash Season 3.

Second Justice League Character Confirmed For Suicide Squad

It would have been nice if WB could have kept this a secret, but I guess they’re trying to do whatever they can to promote the movie as in addition to Batman, a second Justice League member is confirmed for Suicide Squad.

An official cast list has been released in a press kit that reveals the order the characters will appear in the movie with The Flash played by Ezra Miller listed. It’s guessed The Flash may appear somewhere in the Suicide Squad‘s second act.

Curiously, Ben Affleck’s name is not listed nor is Batman’s, which may mean the Caped Crusader is just in the movie as a cameo and no Bruce Wayne. Or perhaps the list is not complete.

It’s been speculated The Flash is in Suicide Squad due to lightning featured in the trailers.

Ezra Miller was recently featured in the Justice League Comic-Con trailer.

“Suicide Squad” has an August 5, 2016 release date directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.

Watch: Ezra Miller Talks Justice League & Black Flash At Comic-Con

Both Ezra Miller and Colin Farrell star in Fantastic Beasts (Farrell is also rumored for the DCEU), with MTV catching up with the actors at Comic-Con.

Ezra Miller discusses working on Justice League where mention of Black Flash comes up. Miller obviously knows his comics.

“When we were driving in here [to Comic-Con], you know the Black Flash, which is the character representative of Death for The Flash?” Miller said. “There was a really good Black Flash costume, and as I was driving by with the window open in my car, he pointed at me. And I was like, ‘I’ll be seeing you, man. I will be seeing you.’ I said that to him and he was like [points finger]. It was amazing [laughter].”

Ezra Miller also offered he loves to put on his Flash costume, with the “awesomeness” outshining the discomfort, and says he has done a lot of improv for his character in Justice League.

“I certainly have been… I have said very few lines the way they were written. I’m going a little crazy,” Miller said with a laugh.

Miller also says working on Justice League has been a blast.

“It’s just everything you hoped for and more. It’s an outrageous amount of fun. I spend every day in a state of sheer ecstasy.”

Grant Gustin Wants Joss Whedon To Direct An Episode Of The Flash

Joss Whedon just said he wouldn’t mind tackling the Black Widow movie, well, how about an episode of The Flash?

Members of the press caught up with Grant Gustin at Comic-Con where the actor let it be known that Whedon happens to be a big fan of the series.

“I met Joss Whedon last night,” reports CBR. “Yeah, that’d be really cool. He was a really nice guy and he loves the show. He’s seen every episode of the show.”

Joss Whedon recently directed Avengers and Avengers 2 for Marvel. At one time he was involved with a Batman and Wonder Woman movie at WB, which caused a bit of bad blood between the two, but that was years ago. Whedon has since left Marvel (but did state he wouldn’t mind returning), and with Whedon’s success on TV with Buffy, Angel, Firefly, etc., The Flash would be a perfect choice.

I wouldn’t actually mind seeing Whedon jump ship and come on board the DCEU as well.

Aquaman Rumored For The Flash Season 3

As we previously reported, WB’s rules regarding sharing characters between the TV and movie universes seems to be relaxed, and in addition to Batman, now Aquaman is rumored for DC TV.

According to The Aquaman Shrine Twitter account, we can expect to see a glimpse of Aquaman in Season 3 of The Flash, which is adapting the popular DC Comics Flashpoint storyline.

It’s even possible an announcement could come at this week’s Comic-Con, as The Flash will be there along with the other CW shows.

Regarding Aquaman and the use of the same characters (Superman is now appearing on Supergirl), it’s been said the reason WB didn’t want to share characters (such as Suicide Squad on Arrow) is because of brand recognition — meaning some fans wouldn’t have any idea what characters belong where. I think it’s safe to say now that the Justice League has been introduced, that most fans know who Henry Cavill and Jason Momoa is, and will realize the difference between Tyler Hoechlin playing the Man of Steel, and likewise, whoever plays Batman and Aquaman for DC TV.

It’s also a safe bet to say that since Geoff Johns’ status has been elevated, that things will go a lot more smoother and the use of characters may be relaxed because of his involvement.

• Stars snapping include Vanessa Hudgens from Powerless; Jaimie Alexander from Blindspot; Rose McIver, David Anders, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli and Aly Michalka from iZOMBIE; Eliza Taylor from The 100; Camren Bicondova and Chris Chalk from Gotham; Mehcad Brooks and David Harewood from Supergirl; Genesis Rodriguez from Time After Time; Ashleigh Murray and Madelaine Petsch from Riverdale; and Kevin Alejandro from Lucifer.

Batman, Constantine & More Rumored For DC CW TV Universe

A batch of rumors surrounding the DC TV universe surfaces which includes mention of Batman, Constantine, Batwoman, Oracle and more.

Now that both The Flash and Superman are appearing in both the movie and TV universes (played by different actors; movies and TV are separate universes), it’s possible WB may have relaxed their rules surrounding the sharing of characters. It’s actually a great route to go as WB can take advantage of their popular characters across all forms of media, than say Marvel, which has one big shared universe (but no mention of the TV characters is ever made in the movies).

Regarding Batman, Bleeding Cool is stating that Fox currently has the TV rights, which is tied up with Gotham, but Fox may share the rights for a fee.

Constantine with Matt Ryan may get revived as part of the CW’s supernatural Friday as The Vampire Diaries is ending, and The CW may want to go with Constantine to fill the horror gap.

Batwoman is said to be appearing in Supergirl with Kathy/Kate Kane being Maggie Sawyer’s ex, whose adventures as Batwoman occasionally take her to National City.

Oracle Barbara Gordon is also said to be coming to Supergirl (though apparently not as Batgirl) where she befriends Kara, and the Oracle/Batwoman relationship/plot is said to resemble Birds of Prey

The Flash‘s John Wesley Shipp is said to be another cross-series regular, probably as Jay Garrick (similar deal to Wentworth Miller and John Barrowman).

It’s possible some of these announcements may be made this week at Comic-Con.

The Flash Season 3 Set Image Reveals New Speedsters & Villain

Following the first look image of Kid Flash, now a set image from The Flash Season 3 features Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West in costume as well as the reveal of a potential villain.

A set image features Kid Flash side by side what may be Black Racer from the DC Comics, with a second image featuring Grant Gustin as Barry Allen.

Black Racer, in the comics, is the grim reaper of the DC Comics and the bringer of death. It’s basically his job to collect souls from the dead.

Grant Gustin did tweet out that the main villain of The Flash Season 3 isn’t a metahuman, so technically Black Racer fits the bill.

We did see Black Racer (Black Flash) potentially in the Season 2 finale when Teddy Sears’ Zoom was killed off.

With Barry going back in time and messing with the timeline (Flashpoint), it’s possible the Black Racer could show up to take out all the Speedsters — including Barry and Wally (as they are not supposed to exist in the new timeline).

We may find out more next week as The Flash will be featured at Comic-Con.

Regarding whether or not Zoom plays a role in The Flash Season 3, Tom Cavanagh seemingly teased the character might play some part.

The Flash Season 3 returns Tuesday, October 4th at 8pm ET on The CW.
