Taron Egerton Rumored For Jason Todd In Batman Vs. Superman Justice League Universe

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24344:]]

A new rumor has hit the net regarding Jason Todd in the DC Cinematic Universe.

The latest has it that the star of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Taron Egerton, is being eyed for the role of Jason Todd in the Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League movie universe.

In the comics, Jason Todd also happens to be Nightwing as well as the Red Hood.

An earlier batch of rumors suggested the Ben Affleck solo Batman movie may feature the Red Hood in an adaptation of the DC Comics Batman storylines “A Death in the Family” and “Under The Hood.”

“Jason Todd has returned from the grave as the Red Hood, working in the shadows to make people think he’s Batman, while making Batman look like a criminal,” the previous rumor stated in part.

The current Taron Egerton Jason Todd rumor comes from The Daily Planet DCEU Rumors Twitter feed, which also states other actors may be up for the role, but that Taron Egerton is the current favorite to play the role.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

WB Rumored To Be Worried About Batman Vs. Superman & Justice League Movie Universe Future

Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. recently released the final Batman Vs. Superman trailer, which was better received than the last.

Now it’s being said Warner Bros. is worried.

The info comes from HitFix‘s Drew McWeeny who talks about the latest Batman Vs. Superman trailer and the Justice League universe.

“I do think this is the moment now for Warner to make the case,” McWeeny offered. “Sort of pulling the curtain back a little bit, Warner is a little bit worried. This movie [Batman v Superman] is starting to scare them. And it’s scaring them because they are starting to show it to people now. People are starting to lay eyes on the film and the response has been not exactly what I think they wanted.”

McWeeny goes on to speculate that he thinks Suicide Squad will be a hit; that Wonder Woman will be finished the way they are planning, but McWeeny goes on to say he will be surprised if Justice League starts filming when it’s supposed to, and also that he will be surprised if Zack Snyder directs it.

McWeeny continues with mention that he has talked with enough people close to the studio that his guess is Justice League will get pushed back, and the Ben Affleck Batman standalone movie will take the place of Justice League Part 1 in 2017.

“My guess is they’re gonna throw whatever money it takes at Ben Affleck to make that Batman film happen sooner rather than later,” McWeeny said. “Because they are going to need to rebuild again. They are going to need to win people back over. They are going to need to lay some different ground work. I don’t think this is going to be the springboard for the Justice League they wanted it to be.”

McWeeny also says the two things he hears that are working for WB is that Ben Affleck’s Batman is said to be “very good,” and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor “is great.”

It’s also suggested the reason for the problems surrounding the movie is that it was rushed, as two days prior to the Comic-Con announcement was when they decided to do Batman Vs. Superman. It’s further said the WB Justice League movie universe is suffering from not having someone at the head of it – similar to Marvel’s Kevin Feige – and that if Batman Vs. Superman doesn’t make a billion dollars at the box office to expect a lot of changes following the movie’s release.

McWeeny also goes on to to state to look for promotion to shift toward Ben Affleck and Batman.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Zack Snyder Talks About DC TV Universe & Batman Vs. Superman Justice League Prequel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22035:]]

Check out the “Hall of Justice” podcast below featuring director Zack Snyder talking about Batman Vs. Superman, Justice League and the DC TV Universe.

Highlights include Snyder talking about whether or not the DC TV universe effects the movies:

This is the bottom line for me. I have 100% respect and love for what they’re doing on TV. I think it’s amazing. The joy and the fun of them speaks to the iconic, graphic nature of these characters. These characters are bigger than any of the actors playing them. Long after I’m done making a Batman v Superman movie, there will be someone else who makes it. It’s almost like an American tradition now we’ve established that these characters will be played again and again, and they exist outside of us in this moment.

I think that’s sort of the thing I’ve embraced, and as opposed to trying to shoehorn all of these storylines into a single universe, we let the characters exist in multi-universe, and therefore it’s a lot more fun and a lot more value for the audience. They get to see their favourite and most beloved characters on different adventures at the same time in different universes and it really makes the meal a lot richer and a lot more fun. We get to go with these guys in all different directions and that’s really the joy of what we’re trying to do over here at DC.

Snyder also talks about the controversial reception of Man of Steel noting that “if you actually read Comics, you know I didn’t change Superman.” Snyder continues with talk of how he is a big comic book fan and wants to keep the characters in the movies similar to comic book canon. Snyder also says he considers Batman Vs. Superman a Justice League prequel; that they do go into Batman and Superman’s backstory, and that the other Justice League members are only touched upon in Batman V Superman while noting the Wonder Woman movie goes into her story.

Snyder also mentions he and Chrisopher Nolan talked about using a new Batman, as Superman wouldn’t fit into The Dark Knight Universe.

George Miller Talks What Happened To His Justice League Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24135:]]

In a recent interview, director George Miller talks about what happened with his defunct 2008 Justice League movie.

Miller was also said to be up for Man of Steel 2, and Zack Snyder recently said the door is open for Miller to be a part of the DCCU.

Miller’s Justice League Mortal script is also online, and check out various art and images related to the movie below.

Via THR:

Justice League was the main one. That was, oh, seven years ago, I think. And there was a really great script. And Warners said, “Let’s do it. Let’s do a Justice League.” I really was attracted to it. But there was a writers strike looming. We had to cast it very quickly, which we did with Warner’s casting people. And we cast it really quickly and we mounted it very quickly. And it depended on a start date and it depended on some basic rebate legislation that had just got through a new Australian government. But it was just too big a decision for them to make in the time. And that fell through and the whole film fell through. We almost got there. And it wasn’t to be. But that happens a lot, where films line up and the stars look like they’re aligning and they didn’t.

The Justice League Mortal cast included:

Armie Hammer (Batman), DJ Cotrona (Superman), Megan Gale (Wonder Woman), Adam Brody (The Flash), Common (Green Lantern), Santiago Cabrera (Aquaman), Teresa Palmer (Talia Al Ghul), Zoe Kasan (Iris Allen), Hugh Keays-Byrne (Martian Manhunter) and Jay Baruchel (Maxwell Lord).

Henry Cavill Talks Batman Vs. Superman From Empire Magazine

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24049:]]

Check out the images (click any image for super high-res) and quotes from Henry Cavill’s interview in Empire Magazine for Batman Vs. Superman.

Henry Cavill On Superman:

“We see the reaction of Lex Luthor, and the reaction of Batman. And the reaction of Baman to this god-like being.”

“People have begun to fear him. Is he too powerful? Is he, in fact, a tyrant?”

“He’s more used to this gig, doing his best to save as many lives as he can. He is no longer frantic. He’s no longer a wet-behind-the-ears kind of superhero.”

Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck:

Snyder: “Can we really assume Superman will never turn on us?”

Affleck: “Sо it’s аbоut twо hеrоеs whо cаn bе sееn аs hеrоic аnd villаinоus, аnd whеn yоu lооk аt thе dоublе-еdgеd swоrd оf thаt, diffеrеnt pеоplе will cоmе аwаy lооking аt it vеry diffеrеntly.”

Affleck: “Rаthеr thаn just Аliеn Vs. Prеdаtоr, whеrе yоu hаvе twо mоnstеrs аnd thеy’rе gоnnа fight, yоu hаvе twо pеоplе whо rеаlly truly bеliеvе thеy аrе dоing sоmеthing hеrоic аnd nеcеssаry in thеir cоnflict.”

Affleck: “Batman has seen the devastation that comes from aliens battling on Earth. He thinks Superman is attracting flies to our planet. He is basically a beacon.”

Henry Cavill on Clark Kent:

“He is the human side of the character, but there is often this idea that Clark and Superman must be so different.  He’s being himself, only he’s presenting a different front while he’s in these different outfits. He can only get away with wearing glasses so much. If he’s drawing attention to himself by being clumsy, that’s not going to work. We don’t want to be jokers.”

Henry Cavill on Lois Lane:

“It’s not a normal relationship. How could it be? One of them is an alien.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24050:]]

Henry Cavill On Batman:

“He doesn’t agree with his form of justice. For this farm boy who tries to do things the right way, justice at any cost is not something he can come to terms with.”

Cavill notes that instead of Superman bullying Batman by simply defeating him, he uses Clark Kent to “..show the world what this Batman dude is doing.”

“It’s the human outlook on Superman and that is why such a major thing happens. It’s not about one on one. Of course Superman is going to win, but it’s deeper than that. It’s more that these two great powers exist and are actually trying to achieve the same thing, but in such different ways.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24051:]]

Miscellaneous:

Cavill: “I don’t do push-ups. (prefers three hours a day on the on-site gym). Zack does a lot of push-ups on set, though. He started a push-up cult.”

Cavill: “It’s not as if I am going to be able to play a POW and then Superman again. (Cavill put on 30 lbs). My commitment lies with this first.”

Cavill: “He’s always in there. It sits there simmering at ten percent all the time and then when it comes to acting, you just crank it up to 100 percent.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24052:]]

Henry Cavill on the Dawn of Justice League:

“There are hero moments where it looks like a hero moment. It doesn’t look like a bum saving a bunch of people then disappearing into the shadows. We’re introducing a potential long-term villain (Lex Luthor), we’re introducing Batman, and we’re introducing Wonder Woman. This is the Dawn of Justice.”

“It’s a bunch of people who are all used to getting their own way, so we’ll see how they interact. And the guy who can kick anyone’s ass is the nice one.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24053:]]

Update: The image comes from Empire Magazine. Check out 13 more.

Update #2: Check out Batman, Alfred, Doomsday and Wonder Woman details.

Do we have confirmation of Darkseid in the Justice League movie universe as Batman vs. Superman footage teases the big cosmic baddie?

Previously, Batman Vs Superman footage featured what looked to be Darkseid’s parademons – the winged creatures in Batman’s nightmare – and now new footage features none other than Darkseid’s Omega symbol.

It’s been said the scene is more or less a dream/nightmare sequence of Batman’s, but with two references to Darkseid, we’re guessing there has to be more to it. Maybe a premonition of some sort? Maybe we’ll get Desaad first (or even Granny Goodness!) appearing in Batman Vs. Superman?

Check out the latest Darkseid evidence for yourself (via reddit):

And the parademons:

Kevin Smith Says Justice League Movie Universe Crossing Over With TV A Possibility

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23982:]]

With the controversy surrounding the casting of The Flash in the Justice League movie universe, with Ezra Miller, and the TV universe, Grant Gustin, there may come a potential resolution.

Have them both appear on screen together.

While it has been said the DC movies and TV shows are separate, if you happen to be a fan of the comics, you know there is an infinite number of possibilities that could make the two connect — all we have to do is point to this season of The Flash as evidence enough as we see there are alternate universes and portals.

Kevin Smith recently co-hosted the “Dawn of the Justice League” special with DC Entertainment chief creative officer and DC comic book writer Geoff Johns. Following the special, Smith appeared on his podcast and mentioned he talked with Johns about the possibility of the DC movie universe crossing over with the TV universe, which was cut from the show (via CBR):

“We did a piece where we talked about — I don’t know how much I’m supposed to say because they cut it out,” Smith said on the podcast. “But the idea [came up] of, ‘Hey man, DC is known for nothing if not a multiverse,’ so at which point I was like [to Johns], ‘Could they fucking crossover?’ And he was like, ‘Ahh.’ So doors are being left open and stuff like that. Think about this, you can have Ezra Miller be the Flash and you could also have Grant be the Flash, because there’s a multiverse at work.”

Even Arrow‘s Stephen Amell has campaigned to appear in the movie universe and backed Gustin as The Flash. Perhaps either Part 1 or Part 2 of the Justice League movies will be some sort of adpaptation of DC’s Crisis On Infinite Earths featuring all the DC heroes on screen together?

Ezra Miller may have hinted at the possibility of a crossover as he talked about other realities in the “Dawn of the Justice League” Flash segment:

DC Comics Rumored To Relaunch Again

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23960:]]

Update: DC Comics and Jim Lee have released a “Rebirth” teaser image, which can be found below.

Update #2: Scott Snyder rumored off Batman, moving to Detective Comics.

Update #3: Titans rumored to drop “Teen.”

It’s being said that DC Comics is going to relaunch their line of comic books yet again.

Following the New 52 relaunch back in 2011, now Bleeding Cool is stating DC will relaunch this June with a batch of all-new #1 issues.

It’s said to expect the popular titles to dominate the line even more (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn/Suicide Squad-related titles).

It’s also said that any of the titles that tie into the movies and TV shows “will be okay” (Flash, Arrow, etc).

It also seems insinuated something may be up in regards to Green Lantern, as it is noted nothing has been “heard about Green Lantern…”

Sales on DC Comics have been pretty poor as of late, with it partially being blamed on the move to the West Coast. In addition, the latest DC initiatives and events (DCYOU and Convergence) have failed to be a hit with readers and retailers alike.

Watch: Geoff Johns Talks Green Lantern From Dawn of the Justice League Special

Noticeably absent from the Justice League concept art is none other than Green Lantern.

We already know a Green Lantern Corps movie is planned for 2020, and that’s about all we know.

Green Lantern concept art was previously released at last Summer’s Comic-Con (see below), but it still has yet to make its way officially online. Interestingly enough, the art looked a lot like Chris Pine, who recently denied GL rumors, and has a role in Wonder Woman as Steve Trevor. The “Dawn of Justice” special didn’t feature the art, either.

During tonight’s “Dawn of the Justice League” special, Kevin Smith asks DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns to fill them in about something nobody knows.

Johns said Green Lantern will be coming to the Justice League Universe.

“We’ve been to the bottom of the oceans. We’ve been to ancient Green mythology. We’ve been to the past and future of Flash. We’ve been to the digital world with Cyborg,” Johns said. “We still got to go to space. So the Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps will be coming to join the Justice League Universe.”

While Geoff Johns really didn’t offer much, if we take his words literally, it sounds as if the Green Lantern Corps already exists and will be making themselves known to the rest of the Justice League characters (at least that’s my understanding) some time down the road. Johns’ words also seem to confirm the rumors of more than one Earth-based Green Lantern  (as Johns says “Lanterns”).

A potential big Green Lantern spoiler recently hit the net as well.

Danny Trejo Teases Lobo

Could the Main Man be finally coming to the big screen?! Or the small screen for that matter?

Danny Trejo took to Twitter to seemingly tease Lobo by posted the following image along with: “First rule of hunting, Super Dupe. Make the target come to you. @DCComics.”

It more or less sounds as if Trejo is actually vying for the role of Lobo, then if he already has the part.

A Lobo movie was once in the works with Dwayne Johnson said to be up for the role and director Brad Peyton attached (and Guy Ritchie at one time), but the Lobo movie never saw the light of day.

Maybe Lobo could be headed to the Justice League movie universe or even the Arrow/Flash or Supergirl series.
