Charlie Cox Wants Daredevil In Avengers: Infinity War

With their potentially being a lot of characters in Avengers: Infinity War, how about Daredevil being amongst them?

Well, it doesn’t seem to be on the cards at the moment, as Charlie Cox says he hasn’t gotten the call, but the actor tells Entertainment Tonight he wants in.

“Yeah. That would be the coolest thing ever. Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are two very different things,” said Cox. “Even if the character were to appear in that film, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I would appear in that film. I will pick a fight with the guy that they choose!… So that would be a dream, but that’s not something that has been discussed.”

Jon Bernthal also talked about playing The Punisher offering it’s an honor and that he looks at playing the character as a responsibility.

Watch more in the above video.

Daredevil Season 2 premiers Friday, March 18th on Netflix.

Jon Bernthal Talks Punisher

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23847:]](Punisher fan art)

Probably one of the most highly anticipated debuts of a new hero (or villain?) is Jon Bernthal as The Punisher for Daredevil Season 2.

Bernthal spoke with EW.com about playing The Punisher, and while he obviously couldn’t offer any specific details, did talk about getting into the character.

It’s an important character, it’s one I’m honored to play. This is a guy who means a lot to a lot of people and his character has resonate with law enforcement and military. People have been coming up to me on the streets of New York saying, “Do not mess this up.”

The training and physicality is extremely important in whatever I do. Luckily I know guys in the military branch he was in. I trained with them and trained a lot with weapons. But with Frank, what was important was the emptiness inside him. He’s dealing with this unbelievable loss. There’s unbelievable anger and hatred and shame. There’s a sense of responsibility and as a father and husband, if I were to lose my family on my watch … I had to put myself in as dark of place as possible the last six months.

Especially at the beginning, what was powerful was a lot of isolation. The first few months I was taking long walks across the Brooklyn Bridge to the set, trying to shed any outside influence of joy. Whether it’s successful or not remains to be seen.

This is a guy who pushes the envelope. He’s brutal, but he’s coming from a place of unbelievable hurt. And the best thing about the character is he just doesn’t care. It’s a highly personal mission he’s on and if he offends you, it’s completely unimportant to him.

I think once you see these characters collide [Daredevil], it’s tremendously interesting and emotionally gripping as well. It’s going to be a special season. If you thought last season of Daredevil was dark, we’re going to a whole new place.

It also recently became known a Punisher spinoff series is in development.

“Daredevil” Season 2 debuts Friday March 18th on Netflix.

Regarding Punisher, Bernthal told EW.com:

”People have been coming up to me on the streets of New York saying, ‘Do not mess this up. This character has resonated with law enforcement and military. He’s brought the war home with him in the worst possible way. And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn’t care.”

Regarding Elektra, showrunner Doug Petrie said:

“Matt’s a deeply moral complicated guy and she’s just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have. She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”

Frank Miller Bashes Uses Of Elektra In Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23184:]]

Season 2 of Daredevil will feature Elodie Yung as Elektra (read the teaser description), but the creator behind the character, the legendary Frank Miller, doesn’t seemed to thrilled.

Miller attended the recent Comic-Con Experience in Brazil where he was asked whether or not he has seen the Daredevil Netflix series, in which he responded with, “No.”

Miller also commented on the use of Elektra in Season 2 by stating it’s not the real deal.

“…they can call it whatever you want, but it will not be the real Elektra,” Miller said, and then when asked asked about his attachment to Elektra, added: “Yes, I’m her father.”

Miller both created and killed off Elektra in the pages of Daredevil in which he claims Marvel promised Elektra would never be printed again.

For what it’s worth, Miller also previously stated at the recent NYCC that he isn’t involved with Batman Vs. Superman and that it’s not an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns.

Sounds Like No Daredevil & Defenders For Avengers: Infinity War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23140:]]

Josh Brolin previously let it be known that it’s “Thanos against everyone” when it comes to The Avengers: Infinity War movies; however, that doesn’t look to include the Marvel Netflix Defenders, which consists of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones.

Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War co-director Anthony Russo recently appeared at Comic-Con Experience in Brazil and offered “it’s complicated” when asked about Marvel Studios having a crossover with Marvel TV. Here’s the blurb (via Super Interessante):

It’s complicated. When we start to serialize the telling of stories it’s difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others. Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it’s more complicated. It is a smaller scale version of the problem that exists when remembering that Fox holds the rights to some of Marvel’s most popular characters, as does Sony and others. As storytellers, we only have control over what happens in Marvel movies, but everything is possible, Spider-Man became possible!

The “complication” shouldn’t be too surprising as earlier it became known that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had parted ways with those who run Marvel TV, which includes Ike Perlmutter, Joe Quesada, Brian Michael Bendis and Jeph Loeb.

Daredevil & Punisher Season 2 Teaser Description

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23124:]]

Check out a description for a Daredevil Season 2 teaser that was shown off at Comic-Con Experience in Brazil.

The scene features Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher) and Elodie Yung (Elektra).

Via Tumblr:

The “teaser” started on a scene where Matt, dressed as Daredevil (wearing the uniform from the end of season 1) walks on a room that looked like a refrigerator. The place was barely lit and had big slices of meat hanging from the ceiling.

As Daredevil walks on that room (the camera focused only at him) we see that he’s searching for something as he stays quiet, slowly walking deep into the room, turning his head trying to hear something. At some point, something not show to the spectator grasps his attention.

The camera open focus to the rest of the room and we see that there are alsopeople being hanged like meat.

Matt searches the corpses with his super senses, not touching, only trying for heart beats, once he finds someone he rush to aid the man: “I’ll take you of that”(or something like it), he says as he tries to take the barely alive man off the hook.

After succeeding, he lays the guy (that I have no idea of how he could be alive considering how badly injured the dude was) on the ground and say something along the lines “Why did they do this to you?” In which the guy mumbles “They? It was just a guy”. Matt stays dead silent, camera focusing on him.

The scene shifts. It’s night time and someone is on the top of a building aiming a sniper riffle at a person on a taxi. I’m not sure if the person being aimed was a man or a woman, though it looked like a woman.

The man behind the gun is no one else but the Frank Castle. While Frank is readying his riffle for the perfect shot, unaware of his surroundings, DD appears.

Running on the rooftop, he jumps and kicks the gun, amazingly diving over Frank to stop him. They soon engage on a fight, but when it was getting interesting and intense as fuck the scene was cut with the Daredevil logo and “2016 – NETFLIX”.

Currently all the rage amongst collectors are the super popular Funko POP! Figures. When I was at this past October’s NYCC, fans that wanted to purchase from the Funko booth had to go to a separete room to get a ticket. Likewise, Marvel was selling their geek boxes at the convention which containted Funko figures and the lines were often shut down because of the amount of people waiting in line (it was a zoo). A lot of vendors were selling the figures as well, with a Tony Stark Funko going for $300.

That said, check out the Funko figures for the Netlix Daredevil series featuring DD’s red anb black costumes, Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock.

Kevin Feige Says Marvel Movies Will Reference TV Shows Eventually

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22270:]]

If you watched last night’s premiere of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD you may have noticed a few references to the Marvel movies namely with mention of Sokovia from Avengers 2 and the reference to Ant-Man; however, the Marvel movies have yet to return the favor.

According to Kevin Feige, that looks to be changing as he states the movies will reference the TV shows at some point and says it’s “inevitable.”

“I think that’s inevitable at some point as we’re plotting the movies going forward and they’re doing the shows,” Feige explained during the Avengers 2 Blu-Ray event held yesterday, reports IGN.

Feige did go on to note it’s difficult for the movies to sync up with the TV shows as the various Marvel TV series have different schedules.

“It’s easier for them. They’re more nimble and faster and produce things quicker than we do, which is one of the main reasons you see the repercussions of Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron in the show,” Feige said. “Going forward and certainly as they begin to do more shows and cast them with such great actors as they have — particularly Daredevil — that that may occur. A lot of it is by the time we start doing a movie, they’d be midway through a season; by the time it comes out they’d be done with the second, starting the third season. Finding timing on that is not always easy.”

Matt Damon Would Play Daredevil For Christopher Nolan

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22232:]]

With Ben Affleck becoming the new Batman, long time friend to Affleck, Matt Damon, has been fielding questions about which super hero he would play.

While Damon recently said he views Jason Bourne as a super hero – and one that could kick the sh-t out of Batman – in a new interview with the NY Daily News, Damon actually says he would like to play the Man Without Fear.

“For us it was always ‘Daredevil’ — that’s the comic we read when we were kids. But when that one came along (in 2003) I chickened out, because I couldn’t tell. I hadn’t seen the director (Mark Steven Johnson’s) work and I didn’t know. So I just said, ‘No.’ Ben was like, ‘I gotta do it.’

“And the movie ended up doing very well, even though I don’t think Ben was ultimately very proud of it.”

“If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, ‘I want to do Daredevil,’ I would be in.”

“Just putting that out there,” he joked.

More than likely Damon becoming Daredevil wouldn’t happen as Charlie Cox plays the character for the Marvel Netflix series. Damon also commented about Affleck choosing to don the cape and cowl.

“I think he approached it the right way, which is, ‘Can I make a great superhero movie?’ rather than, ‘Do I want to play a superhero?’ I’d consider it if the right thing came along,

Matt Damon is currently filming the fifth Bourne movie, which has a July 29, 2016 release.

Jon Bernthal Hints At Classic Punisher Costume For Daredevil

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22138:]]

Previous set pics revealed seemingly a simple Frank Castle in action, and now if the latest image Jon Bernthal has posted is anything to go by, he will be wearing the familiar Punisher costume for the Netflix Daredevil series.

Bernthal posted the following image of himself wearing a Punisher basketball jersey.

Below you can also check out the front of the jersey, which retails for around $32.

Daredevil and The Punisher are said to be more at odds over their personal philosophies for handing out justice in Season 2, rather than The Punisher being a straight-up villain. It’s been said due to the events at the end of Daredevil Season 1, that a power vacuum has occurred leaving Hell’s Kitchen open for a vigilante killing spree by The Punisher.

“Daredevil” stars Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear with Season 2 due out in 2016.

Along with the news of the Jessica Jones premiere date and announce teaser, Marvel has also released a new promo pic for Daredevil, which looks to tease the full red suit.

The end of Season 1 saw Daredevil sporting a red and black suit, and now the following image was released which looks to be inspired by Marvel Comics artist Alex Maleev.

“A hero never fears the darkness — he embraces it,” Marvel’s Daredevil Facebook page added.

“Daredevil” Season 2 premiers in 2016 starring Charlie Cox.

Jessica Jones Teaser Features Avengers Easter Egg

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22049:]]

Marvel released the first teaser for the Netflix Jessica Jones series, which happens to contain an Avengers Easter Egg.

The new Jessica Jones image we posted last night gets an update in the teaser in that Avengers Tower has been added, which is something fans noticed missing from the various Daredevil promotions.

Regarding a potential crossover between the two, it seems rather unlikely as Marvel Studios and Marvel TV have seemingly parted ways.

Jessica Jones premieres on November 20th with 13 one-hour episodes.

Synopsis:

After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
