Tom Holland Spider-Man Movie Will Be Big & Spectacular

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23640:]]

Following Captain America: Civil War (and maybe Doctor Strange!), Tom Holland will appear in the new standalone Spider-Man movie in 2017.

While the movie has been described as having a John Hughes-vibe, that doesn’t necessarily mean on a small scale.

“Smaller scale is all relative,” Marvel’s Kevin Feige told Empire Magazine. “It’s going to be as big and spectacular a Spider-Man film as has ever been made. But it’s a Peter Parker story and has more opportunity to be focused on the story of a 15-ear-old kid going to high school.”

The article further notes when we meet Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, Spidey is already a hero, there will be no more origin stories, and no more endless death for Uncle Ben.

“Captain America: Civil War” hits May 6, 2016; “Spider-Man” swings in July 28, 2017.

Chris Evans Says No One Is Right Or Wrong In Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War — whose side are you on?

Well, regardless if you pick Captain America or Iron Man, you may still be right.

In a recent interview with Cineplex.com, Evans offers some thoughts on the motivations present in the movie.

“You have this team of people who are destroying every city they go to, but they’re saving the world. So it’s a matter of, do we monitor these people or do we let them monitor themselves? The beautiful thing with Civil War is that no one’s right and no one’s wrong; it’s just your personal opinion.

We’re going to have a nice evolution where you have a guy like Cap, who grew up with structure — he was a soldier and he liked hierarchy, he liked the chain of command. Now, all of a sudden, you have a guy who used to love the system not so sure about trusting it. And a guy like Tony Stark, who used to buck the system and dance to the beat of his own drum all of a sudden thinking, maybe we need some order.”

James Gunn Talks Captain America: Civil War & Tom Holland Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23544:]]

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn just participated in a live Facebook Q&A where he tackeled the topic of Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man. Obviously Gunn couldn’t offer specific details, but he did state the following:

I really like the [Doctor Strange] script. What I really like is… I saw Civil War, and I think it’s incredible. I think it’s one of the best Marvel movies ever. I can’t believe what a wonderful job the Russo brothers did and the cast. Oh my, God. They are so good. So it’s an amazing film and people are going to be excited to see that come Summer time. It’s really great.

On Tom Holland playing Spider-Man:

Tom Holland is off the charts awesome. Off the charts, truly, Hand to my heart amazing.

Gunn also offered Thanos won’t be a part (or a major part?) of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as it’s its own story. Guardians 2 starts filming in February for a May 5, 2017 release.

Captain America: Civil War Ending Rumored & More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23490:]]

A new rumor has hit the net regarding the ending to Captain America: Civil War.

Obvious spoilers follow if legit.

The following news should come as no surprise to comic book fans – again if true – in that a YouTube channel is stating Steve Rogers bites the big one at the end of the movie. According to That Hashtag Show, Captain America: Civil War will end with the funeral scene of Steve Rogers. It’s said during the movie, Steve Rogers makes a deal with the government in that they are to not hunt down the people that allied with him. It’s said after Steve Rogers surrenders and is taken into custody, Captain America gets killed.

According to the report, Marvel has filmed three versions of a scene dealing with the new Captain America, in that it could either be Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Anthony Mackie (Falcon) or Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter aka Agent 13), with two of the scenes/characters more than likely red herrings.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Watch: Russo Bros. Asked If Captain America & Winter Soldier Are Gay By The Chinese; Talk Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23422:]]

Check out video below with the Russo Bros. taking part in an interview in China for Captain America: Civil War, where apparently the Chinese audience thinks Captain America and The Winter Soldier happen to be homosexual. The brothers are asked if the homosexual nature will continue in Captain America 3 and The Avengers 3.

On the relationship between Captain America and Winter Soldier (being homosexual?):

“People can interpret the relationship however they want to interpret it. For us, we’ve always interpreted the relationship as two brothers. They’re very close characters, they have a relationship with each other that is very deep. The bonds between the characters are very strong. That’s what motivates the storytelling. These are both characters that came from nothing. Captain America was basically an orphan, and Bucky’s family took him in… When he was sleep for several years, he lost everything that was dear to him. And when he took the serum and became Captain America, he gave away a large part of himself for a patriotic cause. So, you have a character who is searching for the only thing that he has left from his past… and that’s Bucky. And people have interpreted that relationship all kinds of ways, and it’s great to see people argue about it what that relationship means to them. We will never define it as filmmakers, explicitly, but however people want to interpret it.”

On Spider-Man:

“This is a completely new version of Spider-Man that’s introduced in Civil War. He’s played by an actor named Tom Holland. He’s a very talented actor. It was very important to us that we wanted to go young with the character because what we love about Spider-Man is that he’s still a high school student. That’s a part of his vulnerability, and it’s what makes him special in the Marvel Universe; he’s very unique. We wanted to play to that aspect of the character. We tried to think about ‘Who is Spider-Man today?’ A lot of times when you get interpretations of Spider-Man, they’re very nostalgic to the origins of the character. Sometimes there’s an old-fashioned patina to the tone of who Spider-Man is. We wanted to think about who is Spider-Man today — if he lived in Queens today, if he went there, what’s the texture of his life like, what’s the texture of his relationship with his aunt like, who he lives with. How can we make the relationship and character very contemporary? That was our goal with the character, while also making him very young and true to his highschool nature. I think that’s the fresh part of what we are doing with Spider-Man on a character level.”

On potential big things happening to major characters in Captain America 3 and Avengers 3:

“The stakes of both Civil War and the Avengers: Infinity War movies are gonna be very high, and there will be a price to pay… And that’s the whole point of cumulative storytelling. We’re going to go on emotional journeys with these characters. We’ve got a lot invested in them emotionally. We have responsibilities to be mindful of how these people feel about the characters and, at the same time, we also have a responsibility to carry through on the storytelling. As filmmakers, we believe in stakes. You can’t have good storytelling without strong stakes. So, there will be a price to pay. There will be a price to pay in Civil War. There will be characters who suffer in that movie and who come out and won’t be the same again — emotionally or physically. In Infinity Warthe stakes will be raised to a whole new level.  People should expect to be shocked when they see these movies.”

On Captain America’s new costume in Civil War:

“It is a new costume. We were trying to pull forward the work that we had done in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Cap. So, the innovations that we made to his costume in that film are very much the tonal texture that we are pulling forward into this movie. Civil War is very much connected and rooted in The Winter Soldier. So, as far as the specifics of the costume, we don’t want to give too much away, but it is a new costume slightly different from what you’ve seen before. And it’s grounded in that Winter Soldier tone and style.”

On Captain America and Black Widow:

“It was very important to us in Captain America: Winter Soldier, that relationship be platonic. That was what we thought was interesting about it. They do care very deeply for each other, but not a romantic relationship, which is the expected relationship. We wanted to play against that, but they do care very deeply for each other. I think, as much as any two characters in Avengers do. And I think you’ll see that again in Civil War. His relationship with Natasha is pivotal to the movie. I think two of the most endearing scenes in the film are between Steve and Natasha. And of course, that relationship will carry forward into Infinity War. That’s our interpretation of their relationship is that this is like a brother and sister who are work-husband and work-wife. They have a real respect for each other, but they’re very different; they admire the differences in each other, and they find a commonality in those differences.”

ABC Airing Captain America Special Before Agent Carter Premiere

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23387:]]

ABC has announced that a one hour special, Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years, will air on Tuesday, January 19th at 8pm ET, which will be followed by the Season 2 premiere of Agent Carter.

The full announcement can be found below.

Marvel Studios also has Captain America: Civil War opening May 6, 2016.

ABC Celebrates Iconic Hero in the Original Special “Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years,” January 19

CAPTAIN AMERICA TURNS 75!

CELEBRATE ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST ICONIC HEROES IN THE ORIGINAL SPECIAL “MARVEL’S CAPTAIN AMERICA: 75 HEROIC YEARS,” JANUARY 19 ON ABC

From his first appearance in 1941 through the 75 years that would follow, Captain America has been one of, if not the most, influential comic book characters ever to be created. Take a look back at the history of this beloved Marvel character and see how his influence continues to have impact today in the original special “Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years,” airing TUESDAY, JANUARY 19 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EST) on the ABC Television Network.

New York, 1940. A new era on the horizon. Little did the world know then that this decade would shape the course of history in ways never before seen. But two men, who walked those New York streets, a pair of artists and creators, had a strong feeling of what was to come. They were Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, two first-generation Jewish-Americans who believed in their country, believed that the atrocities taking place in Europe needed to be answered, and most importantly, they believed in freedom. And it was an image of freedom that they would create…

Captain America has been the moral compass that has inspired generations to do better and believe in more than themselves. Whether it be leading The Avengers or fighting for his beliefs, even when it meant taking sides against those closest to him during Marvel’s Civil War, “Cap” has been a beacon of light in the Marvel Universe and a central figure in the vast and dynamic world that Marvel fans know and celebrate today.

New Captain America: Civil War Infographic & Details

Captain America: Civil War Trailer

Check out a cool new infographic for Captain America: Civil War featured in the latest issue of Total Film Magazine that offers details about the characters on each heroes’ side.

It’s learned Chadwick Boseman has signed a five-picture deal with Marvel.

Team Iron Man

Black Widow: Wait, what? Black Widow fighting against Captain America? Yep, Steve’s long-time ally is going rogue in Civil War, siding with Tony Stark over the registration act. “She’s trying to pick up the pieces of her life,” says Scarlett Johansson. This is going to be messy.

Black Panther: After that Avengers: Age of Ultron Easter EGg placed Black Panther in Wakanda, the clawed hero debuts in Civil War. “We needed fresh eyes, [somebody] who wasn’t embedded with the Avengers,” Marvel honcho Kevin Feige has said of introducing Panther at this point in the story, and with Chadwick Boseman (Get On Up) signed up for a five-picture deal with Marvel, he’ll be around a while.

War Hammer (War Machine): Old Shellhead’s greatest ally, War Hammer (Don Cheadle) looks to get into a spot of bother in Civil War – the film’s trailer shows his pulverised body being cradled by a disraught Stark. Could this be the end of the line?

Team Captain America

Ant-Man: After his brush with Falcon (Anthony Mackie) in Ant-Man, Scott Lang (Paul Lang) is entering the Avengers fray for good, and it seems he and Falcon have patched things up between films, as Marvel’s tiniest hero is siding with Caps. “It’s been a surreal ride so far,” says Rudd of joining the superhero stable. “It’s really only just starting…”

The Winter Soldier: Last seen in the post-credits Ant-Man sting, he may have been trying to kill Cap in The Winter Soldier, but now that he’s recovered his memories, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) is back on side – possibly. “You’re always trying to guess what side he is on… because he can go both ways,” Stan teases.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Synopsis:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Tom Holland Is On The Doctor Strange Set

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23337:]]

Following Captain America: Civil War and prior to the standalone 2017 Spider-Man movie, could we see Tom Holland in Doctor Strange?

If the following image is anything to go by, it seems likely.

Marvel producer Louis D’Esposito posted the following image of himself along with new Spider-Man Tom Holland and director Scott Derrickson. D’Esposito also previously gave an inside look at Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum.

A Spider-Man appearance wouldn’t be unheard of as they both share NYC as their home base.

“Doctor Strange” has a November 4, 2016 release starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen.

Synopsis:

“Doctor Strange” follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

“Doctor Strange” is the latest film in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3’s goal—over the course of four years and nine films—is to introduce audiences to new heroes and continue the adventures of fan favorites.

Chadwick Boseman Talks Black Panther Vs. Captain America In Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23296:]]

By now we all know that Chadwick Boseman will be suited up in Captain America: Civil War as Black Panther as the trailer (watch below) seemingly revealed T’Challa on the side of Iron Man battling Captain America.

Boseman recently spoke about potentially taking on Captain America in Civil War while appearing on Sirius XM.

“I don’t know, man. I don’t know. [laughs] That’s a great question right there. Hypothetically are you asking me do we fight in the movie? Is that what you’re asking? Well I mean, if you’re talking to [Floyd] Mayweather or [Manny] Pacquiao before the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight, then Mayweather’s gonna say he’s gonna win. If you’re talking to Canelo [Alvarez] before the Canelo/[Miguel] Cotto fight, Canelo’s gonna say he’s gonna win.”

The interview also saw Boseman tease that Black Panther is involved in negotiating the superhero accords in the film that lead to Civil War as there needs to be “some sort of control over these super powers,” comparing them to nuclear weapons. Boseman also noted that Black Panther will be torn between tradition and the “new world,” as well as feeling the need to live up to his father’s legacy and the legacy of Wakanda.

Boseman also compared his Black Panther to James Bond, stating Panther has some “James Bond-esque charm,” and said Panther is not like Thor – who is spoiled and another member of Marvel’s royalty – and added Black Panther isn’t trying to get along with anyone.

Chadwick Boseman will follow Captain America: Civil War with the standalone Black Panther movie in 2018.
