Fan Theory Says Christian Bale In Batman Vs. Superman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22570:]]

Now this is one batsh-t insane theory for Batman Vs. Superman, but it’s a heck of an entertaining one, and seeing how the guy put in a lot of effort and time into coming up with it, I think it’s at least worth a mention.

The theory comes from a Brazilan site totalspoiler.com (via moviepilot) that – long story short – says Man of Steel and Batman Vs. Superman continue the Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy. Yes, that means the two movies are set within the Nolan universe with Christian Bale still being the Batman.

The theory states Ben Affleck is NOT playing Bruce Wayne — he’s actually Deathstroke Slade Wilson. It’s theorized that Jeremy Irons is NOT playing Alfred, but Deathstroke’s own butler, William Randolph Wintergreen. It’s further theorized that Jared Leto is actually playing Robin John Blake from The Dark Knight Rises (just that the character has been recast from Joseph Gordon Levitt, which is similar to what happened with Rachel Dawes). It’s also said Jenna Malone is playing Deathstroke’s daughter, Rose Wilson.

The guy goes over a ton of “evidence” to support his theory ranging from the “v” in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actually stands for the Roman Numeral five — meaning Batman v Superman is actually the FIFTH of the Nolan movies (Man of Steel being the fourth) to the fact that the letters of “John Blake” add up to “joke.”

Scenes from the Batman Vs. Superman trailer are also used to back up the claims of Ben Affleck as Deathstroke as the guy thinks the look of Batman in the movie references when Deathstroke was Batman in the comics (Outsiders vol 3 #22).

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22568:]]

A rather interesting piece of evidence is also pointed out as in the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game Deathstroke says a similar line to what Batman told Superman in the trailer: “I will make you bleed.” The end of the BvS trailer has Batman stating, “Do you bleed? You will.”

Obviously, this outlandish theory may prove false, but the guy does put put forth the rather smart-sounding argument that Batman v Superman is being used to create a second “Batman-caliber” character on the big screen with Deathstroke, described as becoming similar in popularity with what Marvel did for Iron Man.

So if Ben Affleck is playing Deathstroke, the theory goes that Christian Bale will be appearing at the end of Batman Vs. Superman (forming the Justice League?) and will appear in the Justice League Part 1 and Part 2 movies, with Affleck also appearing as Deathstoke in Suicide Squad.

Sound crazy?

Matt Damon Would Play Daredevil For Christopher Nolan

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22232:]]

With Ben Affleck becoming the new Batman, long time friend to Affleck, Matt Damon, has been fielding questions about which super hero he would play.

While Damon recently said he views Jason Bourne as a super hero – and one that could kick the sh-t out of Batman – in a new interview with the NY Daily News, Damon actually says he would like to play the Man Without Fear.

“For us it was always ‘Daredevil’ — that’s the comic we read when we were kids. But when that one came along (in 2003) I chickened out, because I couldn’t tell. I hadn’t seen the director (Mark Steven Johnson’s) work and I didn’t know. So I just said, ‘No.’ Ben was like, ‘I gotta do it.’

“And the movie ended up doing very well, even though I don’t think Ben was ultimately very proud of it.”

“If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, ‘I want to do Daredevil,’ I would be in.”

“Just putting that out there,” he joked.

More than likely Damon becoming Daredevil wouldn’t happen as Charlie Cox plays the character for the Marvel Netflix series. Damon also commented about Affleck choosing to don the cape and cowl.

“I think he approached it the right way, which is, ‘Can I make a great superhero movie?’ rather than, ‘Do I want to play a superhero?’ I’d consider it if the right thing came along,

Matt Damon is currently filming the fifth Bourne movie, which has a July 29, 2016 release.

Ben Affleck Agreed To Do Batman Because Of Chris Terrio Says Matt Damon (Video)

Earlier saw Matt Damon mention that Jason Bourne could kick the sh-t out of Batman, and now the friend to Ben Affleck offers an inside look into the casting process of Batman Vs. Superman.

MTV caught up with Matt Damon at the premiere of The Martian at this weekend’s Toronto Film Festival inquiring if Damon knew anything about Ben Affleck becoming Batman.

Damon responds that he did talk with Affleck offering: “I talked to him about it. It was a big decision. He knew what the stakes were, and I think once he was able to get Chris Terrio to write the script, I think that made the decision for him. I think that was… Chris is just a fantastic writer. Ben really liked Zack, who is directing it, so he felt like ‘okay, I got all the pieces that are necessary.'”

Of course, Chris Terrio was Ben Affleck’s writer on Argo, in which Terrio won an Oscar for “Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay.”

Damon’s comments also offer an interesting look with what happened to David Goyer, as Goyer, who wrote Man of Steel, also wrote a script for Batman Vs. Superman. I’ve actually heard rumors Goyer’s Batman Vs. Superman script was actually more of a combination of a Man of Steel sequel and a standalone Batman story. If true, it sounds as if Terrio came on board with Affleck and did an overhaul and rewrite. Zack Snyder also helped Terrio out on the new script.

Michael Wilkinson Talks New Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman & Aquaman Costumes

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21772:]]

Oscar-nominated costume designer Michael Wilkinson, noted for American Hustle, Tron and Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, Sucker Punch, 300 and Man of Steel, returns for Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League.

People’s Choice caught up with Wilkinson who is in Las Vegas for the MAGIC Panel at the Las Vegas Convention Center where the following was offered about the new Batman Vs. Superman costumes:

Updated Superman Costume:

We tweaked the Superman suit only slightly from our suit from Man of Steel. We streamlined plus sharpened the details of the costume a little to suit the more earthly (less alien) context of this film.

Zack had a great idea to have some kryptonian script [writing] subliminally included in the details of the suit, so we made that happen (update: you can check out details images of the scripts in Superman’s costume here)

Ben Affleck’s Batman Costume:

The batsuit is a complete 180 degree turn from the previous film incarnations — our Batman’s power comes from his incredible physical strength and fighting skills, not from armor. The director Zack Snyder wanted him to look as much like the comic book version as possible — to be respectful to the original source.

My favorite details of the batsuit are the brass knuckles on the gloves.

Gal Gadot Wonder Woman Costume:

As for the Wonder Woman suit, well she has never been seen in a film before, so there was nothing to compare it to! There is of course the costume from the TV show. Zack wanted our character to be a fierce and intimidating warrior — gritty, battle-scarred and immortal.

There is ancient Greek script [writing] on Wonder Woman’s weapons too.

Jason Momoa Aquaman Costume: (note: Wilkinson looks to have confirmed Momoa will be seen in the Aquaman costume in Batman Vs. Superman):

It was pretty hard to get Jason to get out of his Aquaman costume. It really became part of him.

Here are pics of the new costumes (click to enlarge):

New Batman Vs. Superman Details: Aquaman, Suicide Squad, Justice League, Lex and more

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21521:]]

Subscribers of the latest issue of Empire Magazine now have the issue in hand which earlier revealed a batch of new Batman Vs. Superman pics.

In addition, the feature article offered the following details from director Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, producer Charles Roven, costume designer Patrick Tatopoulos, and producer Deborah Snyder.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21523:]]

Snyder reveals Batman’s age:

“We are playing him 45 or 46. He has been Batman for 20 years. All the history is there. Was there a Robin at one time? Possibly.”

Producer Charles Roven teases villains caused the death of those close to Bruce (such as his parents and maybe Robin):

“He has lost those near and dear to him, and not necessarily from old age of disease..”

Ben Affleck offered about Batman:

“Initially I thought, ‘I’m older, it doesn’t seem like the right sort of fit for me. Then Zack pitched me his concept for this older, more broken, kind of f-cked up Batman. It was something we haven’t seen. We have seen that Batman is willing to cross the line to protect people. That vigilantism has been a part of his character all along, and we are tapping into that mentality when faced by something as potentially as deadly a Superman.”

Zack Snyder discusses Batman as well:

“We want to assume that Batman has reached this point in his life and career as a superhero, and Superman represents a sort of philosophical change. He is a paradigm shift for Batman: ‘I’ve been fighting criminals all my life, trying to find justice, and now I am confronted with a concept that is transcendent to me.’ In the face of Superman, a man robbing a bank doesn’t matter. He’s having a crisis of conscience. ‘Am I really just a vigilante who stalks the alleys of Gotham?’ It is rich stuff that he deals with. Ben does an amazing job.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21524:]]

Regarding who is the villain of the movie, Batman or Superman, Snyder says:

“It’s a point of view thing. That is why Dawn of Justice is the full title. What it does is allow us to start this conversation.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21527:]]

Suicide Squad:

It’s also revealed in the article that Batman is responsible for putting the criminals in prison that make up the Suicide Squad.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21525:]]

On Lex Luthor, costume designer Patrick Tatopoulos says:

“Everything is a facade. You have no access to what is inside Lex.”

Tatopoulous confirms Bruce Wayne lives in a house by the lake adding:

“Its footprint is minimal, it is part of nature,” he says.”You are designing a house that would have been designed by van der Rohe, how ballsy is that? “Bruce is the Bruce Wayne you know. He’s a playboy, he’s got money,” Tatopoulos confirms. “He has this strength, but also an artistic sensibility. He’s got a past, a family who got hm where he is today.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21526:]]

On Metropolis and Gotham:

“There are other things happening too. Gotham is a very different city from Metropolis. Metropolis is Toronto on Steroids. Gotham is Detroit.”

Lois and Clark:

It’s also revealed Clark and Lois live together in an apartment.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21531:]]

Tatopoulos describes the Batmobile:

[Truly] an emotional process – it’s about what feels right. I showed Zack and Zack said, ‘Cool.’ Sometimes it just clicks. These films are very grounded. THere will be tons of CG, but also a lot of real stuff – especially with Batman. Of course, building a car from scratch is challenging. The car drives, jumps, pretty much does everything. We got the best people.”

On Batman and the Batmobile:

“He is not driving a Formula 1 car, he’s driving a tank that is very sexy looking. Batman is rougher, tougher, and grungier. So everything is rough: the weapons, the suit and the car. There are machine guns mounted on the front. When you first see the Batmobile, it is being fixed. It is not – boom! – coming out of the garage brand new. It is scratched, damaged.”

On the difference between the new Batmobile and its predecessors:

“Batmobiles are often designed very low to the ground, something classical. That didn’t feel fully comfortable for us. I thought the Tumbler was a revolutionary design, with the suspension very high up. I wanted to combine the two vehicles. I wanted something of a motorcycle, too: big wheels, suspension, exhausts.”

Batwing is confirmed with Tatopulos stating designs were in mind for further movies and Justice League:

“With The Justice League coming, it influences my designs of the Batcave, the Batmobile, the Batwing. We are creating a world for Batman – every set, every prop, is real. We have to be ready for what’s next.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21534:]]

Zack Snyder discussing the approach to the DC Cinematic Universe:

“What we are doing is ground up all the way. It is one giant story. The first thing we had was the Justice League concept. The other movies, in a way, have to support that. That is our Wonder Woman, our Aquaman. They have their own creative concepts that supports them, but they do serve Justice League in the coming together of those heroes.”

On the other Justice League films and directors, Snyder says:

“I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe. I have given everyone amazing access to our story, to me, and what we are doing. All the films have like minded conceptual jumping on points.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21528:]]

Snyder says about the Jason Momoa Aquaman cameo in Batman Vs. Superman:

“You will understand he exists.”

Zack Snyder’s wife, producer Deborah Snyder, offers the following about the DC “Extended Universe,” as it’s being referred to:

“Kind of a timeline of what every movie is, where it is going, and where the films fit in relation to each other.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21529:]]

Charles Roven continued:

“We call it the sandbox. It has borders around it, but everybody gets to play in the sandbox. On Suicide Squad, David Ayer has a lot of specific control over his area of the sandbox. Even if he crosses the line a little bit, we see if we can push our boundaries back a little bit.”

Zack Snyder gives kudos to Christopher Nolan’s Batman films:

“If it was a Batman movie it would be a much more difficult proposition because of how good Chris’ movies are. We live in gratitude to those movies. Chris set a tone for the DC Universe, and separated us from Marvel in a great way. We are the legacy pf those movies.”

On the difference between Marvel and DC, Snyder says:

“Right from the beginning it is different tonally from where those movies are. You know, DC is an ancient world in a lot of ways.”

Deborah Snyder adds:

“I can see how people would want to make it this big, intense rivalry. Listen, they are so great. I loved Guardians of the Galaxy…our films are a bit more serious. They deal with things that are a little darker. Things that place them in our world.”

And  Snyder says about the Justice League slate of movies:

“I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe.”

Zack Snyder & Henry Cavill Talk Man of Steel Sequel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21237:]]

While WB chose to go with Batman Vs. Superman as the next movie following Man of Steel, in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, Zack Snyder talks about the potential villains they may have used if they went with a direct Superman sequel.

“I remember we were talking about, ‘What’s the next villain?’” Snyder offered. “We can’t do another alien invasion. Brainiac was definitely down the road. Metallo, I think, was going to be the main bad guy of this movie.”

Snyder even said he had an idea for an end-of-the-movie-scene for Man of Steel that involved Kryptonite and Wayne Manor that he told to both Christopher Nolan and David Goyer.

“I said, ‘What about at the end of the movie we do a scene where there’s a crate full of kryptonite delivered to Wayne Manor,’” Snyder said. “Everyone was like… ‘Okaay.’ Once you say it out loud it’s a problem because you can’t unsay it.”

Of course, Lex was on the table for the Man of Steel sequel as well, and Jesse Eisenberg is playing the character in Batman Vs. Superman.

“We did talk about Lex right away,” Snyder said. “I think Lex was always on the books.”

Regarding future Superman movies and Man of Steel sequels, Herny Cavill said he is pretty optimistic about the possibility.

“There’s plenty of time for individual Superman sequels,” Cavill said. “He’s a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than the god-like being that we can’t really understand. Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories.”
