Stephen Amell Talks Potential Arrow Crossovers With Supergirl & More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19088:]]

Star of Arrow, Stephen Amell, recently attended the Dallas Comic-Con where he talked about potential crossovers with other shows.

A fan recorded the QnA, which you can watch below.

Here are some excerpts, which looks to include a potential spoiler as Amell seemingly confirms The Lazarus Pit.

On Supergirl:

It would be cool to crossover with Supergirl because it’s something with Greg Berlanti who is the helmer and sort of the brain trust, or the center of the brain trust of Arrow and The Flash, and I know so many of the people that are involved in the production of the show, so that would be really interesting.

Gotham:

Gotham would be a tough one, just beacuse I think they’re out in a different time, but the crossover with The Flash was so much fun and did so well that I can’t imagine a world – a universe (no pun intended) – where that didn’t happen and continue to happen all the time.

Constantine:

It would be interesting to cross over with Constantine, only because he knows a lot about the Lazarus Pit, which is something that we’ve introduced in the show this year.

Amell also talks fighting Ra’s al Ghul and its affect on Oliver and more in the video below.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8pm ET on the CW.

Joker Coming To Gotham By End Of Season

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19003:]]

Gotham, with all its Batman connections, is currently the highest rated comic book series on TV.

Now it’s learned the most infamous Batman villain of all will be making an appearance of some sort by the end of the season.

“We’ve said you’re going to be waiting a bit longer for it, but this is America — nobody wants to wait,” Gotham Executive Producer Bruo Heller tells TVGuide.com. “So, we will scratch the surface of that story, yes. But just scratch it — a little tap on the door.”

While we wait for the Joker, Gotham will focus on developing two Batman villains, Penguin and Riddler.

“Penguin [Robin Lord Taylor] was born a sociopath and was always going down this path one way or another,” Heller offers. “Nygma is someone who becomes the villain, and we see that journey begin in the second half of the season.”

Regarding Riddler, it’s hinted that Nygma may go bad as a result of a broken heart at the hands of Kristen Kringle, played by Chelsea Spack.

“What motivates people to do things is oftentimes love,” Spack says. “He is slowly starting to break through her defenses, but we take two steps forward and then one step back. It’s not smooth sailing for Edward Nygma. It’s complicated for her to have somebody’s feelings in her hand. It’s not as simple as rejecting somebody and having a clean conscience because she’s starting to realize how deeply he cares.”

Gotham airs Mondays at 8pm ET on FOX.

Todd McFarlane Reveals Spawn / Batman Crossover That Never Happened

Todd McFarlane recently took to his Facebook page to reveal art for a Spawn/Batman crossover that never happened.

Greg Capullo was going to be on art chores and even did a promo piece.

Check out the details:

Just like BIGFOOT…here’s that mysterious comic book creature, the Spawn – Batman crossover that NO ONE has EVER SEEN!!!!!

Years ago there was a deal for DC Comics and myself to do a cool Batman/Spawn cross-over book (for those not hip to comic lingo, that’s a book in which both characters are in the same issue). I to to have written and inked it, while a talented penciller, Greg Capullo, was going to draw it. for a variety of reasons (mostly on my shoulders) the book never got off the ground, but a few pages and promo pieces were done for it. Below is one such piece drawn by Greg and inked by myself.

*** This story is different than an earlier version of Spawn/Batman that Frank Miller wrote and I drew. ***

And in a bit of fate: Years later, Mr. Capullo would take over the artistic drawing reins for the caped crusader and he would be the next hot shot artist on DC Comics’ BATMAN comic! Which is usually at the top of the best selling comics each month (ably written by Scott Snyder).

Anyway, I came across this cool cover the other day and thought that it was too good not to share.

Enjoy.

Batman & Ben Affleck Rumored For Suicide Squad

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18817:]]

It’s being speculated/rumored that Batman will appear in the Suicide Squad movie.

A blogger for Forbes is stating he is hearing Batman and Ben Afflek may appear at the end of Suicide Squad involved with The Joker, which would lead into solo Batman films also starring The Joker.

A second rumor that surfaced says the Joker will escape from prison in the Suicide Squad movie.

If we put two and two together, we see how Batman is involved.

The rumor isn’t all that original as the Joker escaping from prison with Batman in pursuit follows Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel storyline, which is the inspiration for Batman Vs. Superman.

The blogger does note, of course, that nothing is set in stone.

Jared Leto is set to play The Joker and recently stated that “Batman is Dead” when a fan remarked that Batman is an unseen hero.

Tom Hardy is also said to have left Suicide Squad, possibly over not agreeing with the amount of screentime for his character, Rick Flagg, and disliking the script.

Suicide Squad has an August 6, 2016 release directed by David Ayer.

Executive producer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist”) wrote the pilot, which was directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the “CSI” franchise, “Nikita”). John Stephens will serve as an executive producer on the series.

Matthew Vaughn Says People Are Tired Of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Superhero Movies

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18604:]]

Matthew Vaughn, director of Stardust, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class and the upcoming Kingsman: The Secret Service, thinks people are tired of dark superhero movies and even points to Marvel’s success with Guardians of the Galaxy as an example.

While speaking with SFX Magazine, Vaughn said, “People want fun and escapism at the moment. Look at the success of Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Vaughn continued with specific mention of the Christopher Nolan style of movies, which includes The Dark Knight Trilogy as well as the recent new Superman reboot Man of Steel that spearheaded the WB shared movie universe with Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League.

“I think Nolan kick-started a very dark, bleak style of superhero escapism, and I think people have had enough of it,” Vaughn said.

Vaughn then went on to talk about Kingsman: The Secret Service, which seems a bit more light-hearted as initially the studio thought it something akin to Austin Powers.

“The studio was like, ‘What is this — Austin Powers?’ It was a balancing act, but I think we pulled it off,” Vaughn said. “It’s not a comedy, but it’s full of laughs. It’s got everything. It’s what we did with Kick-Ass — it’s a proper movie, but we’re allowed to have a bit more fun with it. Its aim was to be entertaining but not silly.”

Kingsman: The Secret Service has a February 13, 2015 release starring Colin Firth, Michael CaineTaron Egerton and Samuel L. Jackson.
