Arrow & Flash Cast Talk DC Movies

The cast of Arrow and The Flash attended PaleyFest where a pair of super cool trailer was released.

Clevver Movies YouTube also managed to ask the cast which of the DC movies they were most looking forward to.

John Barrowman offers when he was younger Aquaman was his fantasy, with Paul Blackthorne adding, “Oh, yeah. Me, too.” Barrowman then jokes, “I bet. He’s such a liar,” and offers a story about his husband, Scott: “I joke with [him] all the time that I’m going to give him an Aquaman outfit that he can swim around in the swimming pool with, but we’ll just leave it at that.”

Jesse L. Martin also likes Aquaman: “Jason Momoa is the man. And the picture they showed – it’s nothing at all like I thought Aquaman would look like, but it’s still really cool. Like really, really cool.”

Earlier today saw Jason Momoa respond to DC haters by writing “F— Marvel” on the new Aquman movie poster.

Of course, some fanboys exploded with outrage, and now Momoa takes to his Instagram to tell everybody to relax.

“Had fun in Indiana,” Momoa posted. “Remember everyone don’t take shit so seriously. Love eat drink laugh Be merry. Aloha.”

Momoa has been cast as the new Aquaman, which is a different take than the original blond-hair blue-eyed original.

Robert Kirkman Blasts DC’s Approach To Batman Vs Superman & Justice League

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19654:]]

We just heard Patton Oswalt’s rant about the DC Movies, now it’s creator of The Walking Dead Robert Kirkman’s turn.

Kirkman appeared on a panel titled “Creative Activism” at the South by Southwest conference in Austin earlier on Saturday where he talked about the difference between Marvel’s approach to The Avengers and DC’s with Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League.

“I’m going to get in trouble here … Anyone would be foolish to think that Marvel hasn’t done something extremely special. I think of Iron Man ending with with a surprise cameo from Samuel L. Jackson [mentioning] The Avengers – you were like, ‘What?! How did that happen?!’ People forget that was a surprise. Everything that came out of that was very organic and very exciting. I think [DC] announcing you’re going to do a Justice League movie after a Superman movie, that was neat and had some awesome things in it, but it wasn’t like amazing or groundbreaking – I shouldn’t have said that. It was an awesome movie, I like it. [The plan] just seems derivative, so it puts them in a backseat position to Marvel. It’s not organic so there’s going to be so much scrutiny on Batman vs. Superman when it comes out. It’s got an uphill battle. If they hadn’t told anybody if the Justice League were going to appearing in that, and they were forming that, it would have been surprising and exciting and weird. People are forgetting how important the surprise is. But, you know, Aquaman looks awesome and I’m sure it will be great.”

Watch: Patton Oswalt Rips The DC Movies A New One (Video)

It should probably be noted before you watch the above that Patton Oswalt plays a Marvel character(s) in Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Of course that doesn’t man he’s biased, as Patton Oswalt answers fan questions ranging from his thoughts on Spider-Man entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to the new Star Wars, to a Matrix/Terminator/Robocop movie, to ripping apart the gritty and serious tone of the new DC movies, to favorite comic book movie, and the superhero he would like to play.

The DC rant hits at about the 4 minute mark.

“God damn it guys,” Oswalt offered. “Stop with the brooding! The only one who gets to brood is Batman! It only works if he’s the one brooding guy! They can’t all be brooding! God damn it.”

Related: Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead, also isn’t a fan of DC’s approach.

DC Movies Are Edgier & More Real Than Marvel Says WB CEO

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19515:]]

With Marvel releasing the awesome trailer for The Avengers 2 today, it was only a matter of time before the direct competition fired back.

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara spoke at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference today and addressed superhero movies.

“The key thing is that the movies and the television shows and the games, everything looks very different …you have to be able to take advantage of the diversity of these characters,” Tsujihara said in response to the notion that the business is suffering from “superhero fatigue,” reports Variety.

While DC is building a shared movie universe of their own, which kicked off with Man of Steel, Tsujihara says DC and Marvel are different.

“The worlds of DC are very different,” he said. “They’re steeped in realism, and they’re a little bit edgier than Marvel’s movies.”

Tsujihara noted that it’s easy to promote a superhero movie because lots of different people are already familiar with them.

“The big franchises are becoming more and more valuable,” said Tsujihara. “You don’t have to explain to the consumer what a Batman v Superman is.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto in new character roles for the film. Gal Gadot Getting Into Shape For Wonder Woman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19506:]]

Check out some new images of Gal Gadot.

While the pics are not specifically from her training for Wonder Woman – it’s an ad campaign for Castro – the images do appear to reveal some muscle tone.

Gadot has been under fire from fans and critics citing her supermodel figure is too skinny for the role of Wonder Woman.

It’s unknown if Gadot will appear as Wonder Woman in Batman Vs. Superman or just as her alter-ego Diana, which may not require her to be beefed up all that much.

Justice League is still a couple of years away, so she has plenty of time to add some additional muscle. I’m guessing she won’t look like a Gina Carano or Ronda Rousey, but just be more tone (she has a supermodel career after all).

Hopefully these latest images aren‘t photoshopped too much.

Peter David Comments On Jason Momoa as Aquaman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19430:]]

With Zack Snyder releasing the first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman, with it comes some contention amongst the fans.

While most fans seemed to be in favor of Momoa as Aquaman and approved of the first image, apparently some weren’t too happy.

Now comic book writer Peter David has addressed the situation. David wrote Aquaman back in the 1990s and says the Jason Momoa Aquaman is obviously his version and asks: Why do fans have to bitch about EVERYthing?

Check it out:

So now I’m reading comments from fans widely decrying the photo of Aquaman that Zack Snyder put up on Twitter. Apparently oblivious to the fact that it’s clearly my version of Arthur, fans are shouting that it looks nothing remotely like the DC Aquaman. Which I guess makes sense; mine was twenty years ago and that’s two generations of comics fans to have passed through and forgotten my iteration of the Sea King.

But still: when will they learn? I still remember clearly being at a convention back in the early 90s, and it had been announced that Tim Burton was casting Michael Keaton as Batman. I was on a panel and we were asked about it. Every other panel member said it was an insult, that it was going to be 1960s Adam West all over again. And I was the last person to speak, and I said, “Look: Tim Burton is a director. Keaton is an actor. They’re both good at what they do, and just because they’re mostly known for comedy doesn’t mean they can’t turn out a great Batman film.”

And I was booed. By everyone. Even the other panelists gave me the evil eye.

Flash forward several years, and I’m at another convention, and I hear two fans talking about the just announced “Batman Returns.” Their opinion: “It better be Tim Burton and Michael Keaton or otherwise it’s gonna suck.” I felt vindicated.

Remember when photos of Heath Ledger surfaced as the Joker and fans proclaimed he looked completely wrong and the film was going to suck?

And fans never learn. They NEVER learn.

Why the hell can’t they rein in their perpetual expectation for the worst and just wait to see the damned film? Yes, “Man of Steel” was a flawed film. Y’know what? It was still 100% better than Superman III and IV.

Jason Momoa Talks Aquaman, Batman vs. Superman & Justice League

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19417:]]

Jason Momoa is set to play the King of the Seven Seas on the big screen come March 2016 in Batman Vs. Superman.

Momoa also stars in The Red Road TV series that airs on Sundance TV. While doing press for the series, Momoa talks about his DC slate and Aquaman.

Jason Momoa notes he didn’t shoot any action scenes for Batman Vs. Superman and looks forward to the Justice League movie for that; Momoa also says he doesn’t have a big role in Batman Vs. Superman as it’s their movie (via EW).

No, we haven’t done too much on the action yet. You know, Justice League is still quite a ways away. But I’m looking forward to it. Henry’s a sweetheart, Ben is a badass, so I’m really looking forward to when we all shoot Justice League.

Well, it’s Batman and Superman, it’s not my movie. It’s the first time in history to have them both on the screen together, and I’m just excited to see those two up there.

Momoa also talks about the big Aquaman poster reveal that took everybody and the internet by storm.

That was a shocker for sure. It was supposed to be a surprise in 2016, so it definitely helps [our show]. I’ve been holding that secret for a long time. Zack Snyder called me up and said, “I’m posting this picture now.” He’s just a genius and I love him to death. He sent it over and we’re in the middle of the editing suite for the thing I’m doing right now, and we all freaked out, man. It was so amazing to see it come out.

Momoa says Aquaman will be amazing with lots of surprises on the way.

The whole mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing. There’s so many things to tell, and there’s a whole backstory that’s just amazing. There’s a lot of surprises coming. I think, yeah, he’s been cast aside. But, um [laughs] times are going to change now, buddy.

No Batman Vs. Superman Trailer With Focus

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19405:]]

It’s probably safe to say that there is no Batman Vs. Superman trailer attached to Will Smith and Margot Robbie’s Focus.

Focus debuted last night with advanced screenings and no word has surfaced about a Batman Vs. Superman trailer.

The internet would have exploded if the Batman Vs. Superman trailer was shown last night; so it looks like the guessing game continues.

With Zack Snyder releasing a first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman, it was hoped the Batman Vs. Superman trailer would be released with Focus. In addition, Smith and Robbie are starring in Suicide Squad, which follows Batman Vs. Superman.

The first Man of Steel trailer actually didn’t debut until 11 months prior to its own release date; so the Batman Vs. Superman trailer may actually not be revealed until April.

Fast and Furious 7 appears to be the major movie for April, which hits April 3rd.

If we go back a previous month to March, there is Insurgent on March 20th.

Heading on to May sees The Avengers 2, which would be an obvious no-brainer for Warner Bros.

There is also WB’s Mad Max: Fury Road on May 15th starring Tom Hardy, which seems a likely candidate.

Watch: Hans Zimmer Talks Batman Vs. Superman

Hans Zimmer is back to create the music score for Zack Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman following Man of Steel.

MTV caught up with the Oscar-award winning composer this past Sunday and asked how things are coming along.

Zimmer noted the Batman Vs. Superman score is unwritten, but he does have some ideas.

Zimmer also agreed that each Justice League character would have need to have their own music, and again stated he is not doing Batman’s music, but that he brought in his friend, Tom Holenborg (better known as Junkie XL), to do the music for the new Dark Knight Ben Affleck.

“I’m getting my friend Junkie XL to do Batman, so it’s a bit of a different tone.”

Zimmer scored the music for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Dwayne Johnson Talks Black Adam & Fighting Batman & Superman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19150:]]

Dwayne Johnson is featured in the next issue of Total Film magazine where he talks about playing Black Adam in Shazam and also about Batman vs. Superman.

“I think Black Adam is going to grow into becoming an anti-hero,” Johnson says. “It’s all written within the spirit of respecting and paying homage to the comics. As we know, Black Adam started out as a slave. When he’s given the powers, he utilised them. Then in the wake of his powers, tragedy strikes, which turns his sentiment and tone in terms of psychology.”

Johnson previously made comments about Shazam having more freedom and being independent of the other DC movies, but here he does say they are all connected.

“It was all agreed that the worlds are all interconnected… One day you will see Black Adam go at it with Superman or Batman or any of the DC characters. But that said, there’s a great independence to Black Adam from the DC world, allowing us to inject, not only viciousness, but also winking humour.”

Shazam has a 2019 release date.

Carrie Farris Back For Batman Vs. Superman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19102:]]

Captain Carrie Farris will be returning to Batman Vs. Superman.

Farris – spelled with an ‘a’ – appeared in Man of Steel swooning over Superman played by Christina Wren.

Now Wren confirms she will be back for Batman Vs. Superman as she tells PittsburghMagazine about the new movie.

“I can tell you that I think it’s going to be badass!” Wren said. “They’re just such an awesome team. The bits that I was on set for look fantastic; everyone in it is fantastic. It’s exciting; it’s high-energy; it’s high-action. They are addressing all of the things that they set up in Man of Steel.”

Fans of DC Comics immediately recognized the similarity between “Carrie Farris” and the DC Comics Green Lantern character “Carol Ferris.” Christina Wren is aware of it, too.

“So there’s some gossip; this has not been officially confirmed with me at all,” Wren explained. “But my character’s name is Carrie Farris; there’s a character named Carol Farris who’s the Green Lantern’s girlfriend and turns into this superhero, Star Sapphire. But I have no idea if that’s the plan; they’re not even slated to do a Green Lantern film for several years.”

Wren also says she filmed Batman Vs. Superman in Detroit, which might suggest the military will have a presence of some sort in Gotham City.

Batman Vs. Superman Said To Have Super Bowl Trailer

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18970:]]

Just yesterday saw it confirmed news for Batman Vs. Superman is coming soon, and now it’s being said a Batman Vs. Superman trailer will air during the Super Bowl.

Update: There was no Batman Vs. Superman Super Bowl trailer, but DC has said Batman Vs. Superman news is coming in February.

The info comes from an advertiser analytics website, ispot.tv; they have it listed a 30-second spot for Batman Vs. Superman will be shown.

The Batman Vs. Superman trailer hasn’t been confirmed by Warner Bros., and another rumor has it the Batman Vs. Superman trailer is attached to Jupiter Ascending this Friday, so maybe we’ll get a 30-second Super Bowl preview followed by the full trailer.

While Warner Bros. usually skips out on the Super Bowl – there were no Man of Steel or Dark Knight Super Bowl trailers – perhaps WB wants to kick things up a notch as Batman Vs. Superman comes out a couple weeks prior to Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which is essentially another Avengers movie.

Here is the screenshot with the Batman Vs. Superman trailer listed:

Watch: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon & Chris Evans On Deflategate

The Super Bowl happens to be this Sunday, but hasn’t come without controversy as the AFC Championship game between the Colts and Patriots saw almost a dozen footballs discovered with less air than what’s mandated.

In what has become known as “Deflategate,” the accusation is that the Patriots used deflated balls to give themselves an advantage as a softer ball in colder weather makes it easier to throw, catch and hold.

The Patriots, Coach Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady have denied the allegations, and the NFL is still looking into the matter.

While we still don’t know what the cause of “Deflategate” is, Jimmy Kimmel is on top of things.

Various Hollywood stars take credit for “Deflategate” above including Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, John Krasinski, Chris Evans, Steven Tyler, Eli Roth, Dicky Barrett and Bill Simmons.

Personally, I think “Deflategate” is the reason the Patriots have continued to win the AFC East and beat the Bills.

Chris Evans also has a Super Bowl bet going with Chris Pratt.

Michael Shannon Wearing An Aquaman T-Shirt At Sundance

If you didn’t know – Michael Shannon happens to be a big fan of Aquaman.

Shannon previously said if he could play a superhero, it would be Aquaman.

“You know who I really want to play?” Shannon said. “Aquaman. If they ever make a fucking Aquaman movie, I want to be Aquaman.”

Shannon said that over a year ago, and now the actor has been spotted at the Sundance Film Festival wearing an Aquaman t-shirt.

Jason Momoa was recently cast as Aquaman and also attended the Sundance Film Festival where Michael Shannon wearing the Aquaman t-shirt was brought up. Momoa didn’t have much to say about it other than “that’s awesome.”

Michael Shannon played Zod for Zack Snyder in Man of Steel. Various fan theories are speculating that Lex Luthor gets a hold of Zod’s body and uses the Kryptonian armor to make the Lex Luthor Warsuit from the comic books.

Jason Momoa’s Jaw Dropped When Told About Aquaman & DC Plans

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18908:]]

Jason Momoa recently attended the Sundance Film Festival where offered some information about Aquaman and the DC movie universe.

“Well, things are going to be a little different,” Momoa responded when asked what fans of the comic book can expect. “When I first went in I met with Zack [Snyder] — his idea is pretty amazing. When I went in, he told me — my jaw kind of dropped. My jaw doesn’t normally drop. What he has planned for the DC world and definitely for Aquaman is something that, you know, I think I was brought on for a certain reason, and they got some really cool plans for him. I’m really excited for everyone to see it.”

Momoa continued with mention of having to keep Aquaman a secret.

“Last year, when I was on this panel I was like eating chicken breasts and in training when I wasn’t supposed to talk about anything,” Momoa said. “I wasn’t supposed to say anything until 2016. So I told a bunch of people that they could punch me in the face if I was on it, so I’m going to get hit a couple times. But they finally released it. I was supposed to keep it a secret for 3 years.”

It’s then mentioned that Michael Shannon (Zod in Man of Steel) has been seen in town wearing an Aquaman t-shirt (Shannon previously said he wants to play f’n Aquaman), with Momoa asked, “What’s the relationship there?”

Momoa didn’t respond to the questioning, but did say “that’s awesome,” and continued talking about what he liked about Zack Snyder in that there is a new “brown” superhero as Momoa is half Polynesian.

“There is not a lot of brown superheroes. You know, I’m half Polynesian. What that is going to represent to every Islander, every brown kid that’s out there is really going to be like — it’s really cool what they are doing with that. That’s an honor to represent that,” Momoa said.

The fan portion of the QnA then sees Jason Momoa asked whether Aquaman will have a mustache and beard, as the 74-year-old fan mentions Aquaman is her “very favorite character” and she has the Aquaman #1 comic book.

“Well, just going off what you’ve seen so far ma’am, I don’t think he is going to be blonde or white. I can’t really tell you because I haven’t shot it yet. I hate to disappoint. I’m a little different than what those others. I hope you watch it with an open heart. I went to school for Marine Biology. It’s an honor to play this.”

Aquaman hits 2018.

Amy Adams recently discussed playing Lois Lane in Batman Vs. Superman where she revealed she has only one scene with new Batman Ben Affleck.

“I was only in one scene with him, I think I’m allowed to say that,” Adams said, reports The Telegraph. “So I didn’t get to see much, but what I saw was fantastic.”

Adams also says Ben Affleck as Batman and Bruce Wayne will be different than any of the previous incarnations.

“He is going to be his own unique thing. He’s got a wonderful quality and a great body of work,” she said.

Amy Adams continues with mention of working on the movie and with some of the cast.

“It should be a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun for me,” Adams offered. “We’re not allowed to speak about it, but I just want to tell everybody everything. I’ve spoken about working briefly with Gal [Gadot] as Wonder Woman and Ben as Batman and had a wholly positive experience. And teaming up with Zack [Snyder], Henry [Cavill] and Lawrence Fishburne again is so much fun. I like playing Lois, it’s a real privilege for me. I never really expected it.

“I can’t wait to see it. Just the part I’ve seen looks really exciting,” Adams said.
