Watch: Justice League: Crisis Fan-Trailer

I see I am not the only one that has thought of a Justice League “Crisis” movie.

Wouldn’t it be something if following Batman vs. Superman, the two-part Justice League movie was actually a take on “Crisis On Infinite Earths” and featured Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, in addition to appearances by Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Stephen Amell from Arrow, Grant Gustin from The Flash, Brandon Routh reprising as the Christopher Reeve Superman, Supergirl, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex, Jack Nicholson returning as the Joker, and more?

While that may not be on the table, check out a cool Justice League “Crisis” fan-trailer put out by UltraSargent on YouTube.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23365:]]

BEN AFFLECK:

If you had to introduce your Batman to somebody who doesn’t know the character, how would you describe him?

Ben Affleck: Usually, the films show Batman starting off, or in the prime of his career. Here, you’re dealing with an older version, a guy at the end of his journey. He’ll find meaning in his own life during his conflict with Superman. He really thinks Superman is an existential menace, and he believes destroying him will be his legacy. We also play a bit more with the billionaire playboy side of the character. He lives that life at full tilt. He courts many women, owns many cars, and parties a lot. He does that as a way to fill the void in his soul. Moreover, past incarnations dealt with a straightforward search for justice. This time, Batman’s reasoning is clouded by frustration, bitterness and anger.

Have you analyzed Christian Bale’s version in order to distinguish yourself?

Ben Affleck: I don’t want to compete with other incarnations, nor do I want to emulate them. Those versions belong in another universe. Christopher Nolan used his Batman to tell a finite story. My version is different, but remains faithful to the Batman mythology and all the themes associated with it. The other difference is that Nolan’s Batman isn’t part of a universe where other superheroes exist as well. Here – because we’re working towards the Justice League – there’s Superman, and it’s a world populated with super beings. This situation generates an altogether new reality.

How did you react when you first saw yourself in the Bat suit?

Ben Afflleck: When you’re reading the script, you’re wondering how you’re going to play Batman. Then you put on the suit, you look in the mirror and you tell yourself: “There, that’s it.” The suit does all the work for you. In fact, you’re not playing Batman, but Bruce Wayne. That’s when the character becomes complicated and interesting. Batman himself is already a strong emblematic figure. It would be a mistake to overplay him.

What do you think of the two suits you get to wear in the movie?

Ben Affleck: I really like their design. They’re faithful to Frank Miller’s vision in The Dark Knight Returns comic. In fact the movie borrows a lot from that comic, as noted by our use of the massive and very symbolic battle armor. They’re pretty heavy and cumbersome in the end. The challenge was to create fight scenes where I could move with ease, which is tough. The suits have to look cool and be functional at the same time. One thing that couldn’t be done before but is finally possible now is to wear the suit without the arms. They put motion sensors on my arms to recreate the rest of the suit in post production. And that allowed me to move my arms freely without looking like a robot during fight scenes. I think it was the first time an actor could have all that flexibility and move his head in a Batsuit!

What was the biggest challenge for you personally on this film?

Ben Affleck: That filming took so long – 140 days – and that everything was so compartmentalized, fragmented. It was tough to recall where a particular scene fit in the overall story, or to understand those moments that were stuck between SFX heavy shots which would be completed in post. I’m not used to that type of filmmaking, I can’t switch to cruise control, I have to restart the engine every time. For instance today I’ll only be filming shots of about ten seconds or so, which will then be edited to build an entire scene. I’m more used to shooting a whole scene in order to try different things. This time around it’s very technical, and you don’t really have much freedom amid all those visual effects.

Why is Luthor the right villain for this film?

Ben Affleck: Between the character that was written by Chris Terrio and Jesse Eisenberg’s portrayal, it’s the meeting of two great minds, on the same wavelength. Luthor is, for me, the most interesting character in the film. He’s radically different from what we’ve seen so far. He’s grounded in reality, and he’s extraordinary. This type of film is only as good as its villain. That’s why The Dark Knight was so brilliant, because of Heath Ledger’s Joker. Jesse improves the film with each scene he’s in. He’s not your usual one-dimensional villain, there’s a whole psychology behind him.

Does Batman v Superman speak about the current world?

Ben Affleck: I don’t think this film has any sort of lesson, but it’s more than just entertainment, it’s also trying to show that there are real consequences to violence. When a building collapses, people die, and those are lives lost forever. This film also shows that fear is the enemy of us all. Fear brings out the worst in us. When we fear powerful people because we think they might destroy us, we tend to use that to justify any decision we might be tempted to make. There are some parallels with preemptive strikes, and things like that. It allows us to analyze how we think about what we do, when facing a threat. That’s very relevant to what’s going on in the world right now. The film tackles pertinent themes.

In conclusion, in a fight between Superman and Batman, who wins?

Ben Affleck: Well… When you see the film, you’ll realize it’s more complicated than that! There’s no real winner. I like the idea that Truth is the winner.

HENRY CAVILL

How has Superman evolved since Man of Steel?

Henry Cavill: Superman himself isn’t that different. He does however have to deal with a new set of problems because he’s now been revealed to the world. This film is more about how the world in general – and Batman in particular – sees this alien, and less about the evolution of Superman. We’re seeing Superman and Batman together for the first time in a movie, with flesh-and-blood actors. They’re two sides of the same coin. They have the same goal, but use very different methods to achieve it. Understandably, that leads them to clash with one another, and their conflict is a historic moment.

How do you plan to portray Clark Kent, the journalist?

Henry Cavill: Comparisons with Christopher Reeve’s clumsy Clark Kent are inevitable. My Clark Kent is trying to be as small and invisible as possible. If you’re awkward and spilling things constantly, people are going to notice you, and that’s not the best way to go unseen. You have to admit, it’s not a remarkable disguise, just a pair of glasses. He’d like to think that no one will believe he could be Superman. How could such a delicate flower be a living god? Preposterous.

Superman’s suit will evolve from one film to the next, even if they’re just minor updates.

How is the one featured in Batman v Superman different?

Henry Cavill: It’s easier to take it off when I have to relieve myself! Suddenly my life is much less complicated.

New Jesse Eisenberg Lex Luthor Image & Viral Content

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23357:]]

Following the three new posters, Warner Bros. has released a new image of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor for Batman Vs. Superman as well as new viral content as part of a sponsored “interview” on Wired.com. We also see a chart with mention of Ted Kord (Blue Beetle), Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and more.

Here are some highlights:

On superhumans:

RON TROUPE: You’ve been very vocal about that. About the new superhuman threat.

LEX LUTHOR: Well I don’t know where you got that term. I think to be a super human, one should begin by being, you know, from this planet.

Batman:

RON TROUPE: And what are your thoughts on the Batman? He’s human. Presumably.

LEX LUTHOR: Well, he is. In fact, I’d say he’s all too human. Any objective analyst will tell you that his brand of justice, vigilantism, is painfully outmoded, designed to be effective in an age when the law carried billy clubs because crime carried knives. The most dangerous guy on the street worked in the shadows because he was cowardly and superstitious. That’s all you needed to play upon in order to disrupt their operations. You want to clean up the streets? Dress up like the boogeyman, switch on a fog machine and lower your voice.

RON TROUPE: When you put it that way, it sounds ridiculous.

LEX LUTHOR: It didn’t when the Batman first appeared, but that was a long time ago. This is a new world, Ron, and it’s time to get serious.

Mention of ARGUS (and potentially hinting at Suicide Squad):

RON TROUPE: What changed?

LEX LUTHOR: Let’s just say I ran into a wall. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail here. Suffice it to say the dangers we’ve been talking about are very real. And they’re not just limited to a couple of alien brawlers able to level tall buildings in a single bout. I’m ready to sit down with whatever task force the government has assembled — in the interest of sharing intelligence and building solutions together. If she… they… Argus… the government, whatever you want to call it, has a real interest in fighting for the future, they ought to work with those of us who are already on the front lines.

RON TROUPE: I’m sorry, can we— what is Argus?

LEX LUTHOR: What. Is. Argus. Spelled A.R.G.U.S.

Possible Batman Vs. Superman Spoilers Leak Online Including Scoot McNairy’s Character & More

Following the details of Doomsday being released by the production designer of Batman Vs. Superman, now potential spoilers may have leaked online.

A user on Reddit posted the following:

Ultimately Luthor uses Project Black Zero to create a “Black Zero” Superman (HINT HINT- Bizzaro N52 name and Zod’s ship thingy was called Black Zero in MoS) that triggers something called the “Doomsday protocol” in Zod.

There’s a creepy rubber Henry Cavill face they laser onto Zod.

Doomsday is something that lies within each Kryptonian (Except Superman, because he had a natural birth) to prevent cloning and revival. Sort of like a anti-piracy.

Dick and jason are named dropped, and Jenna Malone is Carrie Kelley seen for a small scene being attacked by the guy you see branded in the trailer after batman stops it.

Aquaman shows up twice. The Metal Men don’t appear but they’re alluded to.

The credits apparently want everyone to sit around and watch because it’s the Justice League (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) doing Justice League stuff, with a second appearance by Aquaman helping Wonder Woman with a flood, Batman working with Cyborg, and Superman and Flash sprinting through a city.

You don’t see joker but hes referenced.

Wonder Woman talks about the New Gods.

Doomsday is stopped when forced into the Phantom Zone, opened by Batman, by Superman after a distraction from Wonder Woman.

Description of the flash suit seen in the credits scenes, It’s kinda like a combination between a Swat Team uniform and a diver’s suit. The helmet is a rubbery plastic with metal wing ears like Jay Garrick’s. He doesn’t wear lenses. There are different textures on the suit, but it all seems kinda rubbery or duct tape type material. It’s thick. It’s brighter red in the center and darker red on the legs and the seems. He has faded yellow boots and gloves. There is no lighting around around him or trailing.

The batman vs superman fight isn’t long it ends with Batman “winning” followed by him having a heart attack, assumingly from being in a 2 ton suit and being thrown through streets and being in range of a kryptonian bomb that goes off in the fight. Superman flys him to the cave.

Doomsday does evolve to look more like the comic version, Wonder Woman chops off his arm and it grows back to look like the comic book one with the cool spike, and he starts to grow spikes out of his head when Superman is rushing his face against the pavement.

scoot mcnairy is William Magnus, who has a direct influence on the creation of Cyborg, but leaves when he finds out Luthor’s a total douche.

The doomsday fight also takes place 6 months after bruces heart attack.

Wayne enterprises owns the World Engine, that could become the watch tower. No fortress of solitude mentioned. No hall of justice mentioned.

Lex gets cancer after working with so much alien shit. He never wears a wig, and eventually shaves it.

Aquaman tells Wonder Woman he thinks the World Engine is from the New Gods, and Wonder Woman scouts out Clark and Bruce as Diana, then shows up talking about how “New Gods” yet unheard of have powers of mind and threats we can’t imagine, etc. It’s not super delved into but it’s the main reason they let her into the club and decide to keep in contact.

Batman nightmare is a recurring one like that episode of Twilight Zone. The first one ends after the Parademons start picking up soldiers and a defeated Batman, the second one ends after Superman rips off Batman’s mask and his eyes glow red.

Lex gets cancer after working with so much alien shit. He never wears a wig, and eventually shaves it.

The Dick and jason name drop goes like this apparently “This type of brutish attitude is precisely why master Dick left you, and why master Jason-” Then Bruce cuts him off.

The cut he saw was a little over three hours. He’s assuming they’re editing it down to 2.5 but they’re VFXing the whole thing for the “Definitive Cut”

WW has a accent but it fits.

Lex/OS uses “Kryptonian Software.” possibly Brainiac?

Cyborg is Luthor’s poster boy for victims of Black Zero

Will Smith Rumored For Ben Affleck Batman Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23215:]]

A new rumor surfaces stating Will Smith may star in the upcoming standalone Ben Affleck Batman movie.

Latino Review is quoting sources who state Deadshot may appear in the Batman film, which would be a “major role” for Smith and make the film on par with Batman Vs. Superman in terms of star quality and characters.

According to the report, it’s not a definite thing with it stated it’s “rumble behind the scenes” and a big “IF things pan out.”

It’s further said Will Smith as Deadshot in a Batman movie would be a “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” type-of-scenario.

The Batman movie has yet to be announced (probably around Batman Vs. Superman‘s debut), and it’s also speculated that Ben Affleck will direct.

Affleck did recenly reveal he’s open to directing a solo Batman movie and did state the DC Justice League Universe will be massive.

If the Will Smith Deadshot rumor doesn’t pan out, there is always the rumor of the Red Hood for the standalone Batman movie.

Will Smith stars as Deadshot in Suicide Squad out next August.
