Jena Malone’s Batman Vs. Superman Role Possibly Revealed

Possible spoilers follow for Batman Vs. Superman.

We may know the role that Jena Malone is playing, as what is said to be an official WB questionnaire has surfaced revealing the possible character.

The survey lists Jena Malone as Barbara Gordon, who in the comics is Batgirl and/or Oracle.

What’s interesting is that Zack Snyder recently said that Jena Malone is “definitely not Robin or Batgirl.” Is it possible Zack Snyder could be trying to pull another fast one on us? Tao Okamoto’s role was first said to be an original character created for the movie, but later it came out she’s playing Mercy Graves.

Snyder also said Malone was cut from the theatrical release, but will be featured in the extended R-rated version of Batman Vs. Superman.

Is Dan Amboyer Metallo In Batman Vs. Superman?

Could Dan Amboyer actually be playing Metallo in Batman Vs. Superman and not Green Lantern?

The WB execs recently stated in an article with Entertainment Weekly that there is no reference to Green Lantern in Batman Vs. Superman, and that we might not see Green Lantern until the 2020 Green Lantern Corps movie, which is four years away.

So what’s been up wth Dan Amboyer who has been teasing “green” on his Instagram?

The latest has a pic of Amboyer bathed in green light, with Amboyer adding to the post: “find your lime light.”

While that obviously seems like a Green Lantern tease, if we go by the words above that we might not see Green Lantern for four more years, Dan Amboyer may be playing another “green” character. We an probably scratch Martian Manhunter off the list because Supergirl is using him, so possibly Metallo sounds likely.

The green would fit with Metallo as the Superman nemesis is imbued with Kryptonite, and in the latest comic books, John Corben is a member of the mitary working under General Lane. In Batman Vs. Superman, Dan Amboyer is said to be Lieutentant Christie, a drone pilot.

Batman Vs. Superman R-Rated Details From Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck & Charles Roven

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24608:]]

Below you can check out details on the R-Rated home release of Batman Vs. Superman from director Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck and producer Charles Roven.

EW.com provided the following:

Currently unknown how long the director’s cut will be (theatrical version is 2h 31m).

• R-rated theatrical releases for DC movies is said to be unlikely.

• Jena Malone is not Batgirl or Robin.

Suicide Squad will be rated PG-13.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24606:]]

Ben Affleck:

“I’m a parent of young kids, and I feel like I wouldn’t want to have a Batman v Superman that I couldn’t show to my younger kids,” the actor says. “But on the same token, as an adult, I like to see movies that are R-rated. I think nowadays because we have so many means of distribution and ways that we can do different things, it’s the creative solution to a creative challenge.”

Ben Affleck on PG-13 Version:

“You can have multiple versions and I can show my son and my daughters this movie and feel confident that the stuff isn’t too crazy, and then grownups can see larger version, [which is like] the red-band trailer. They can see the more adult version of that movie.”

Ben Affleck on R-rating:

“These movies have definitely evolved from being comic books for children aimed at kids. Now they’re the most mainstream movies made, the most successful, the most widely viewed movies these days,” he says. “Clearly there’s a big enough audience. I think it’s cool. Why not have an R-rated version that you release for download or on DVD later? I think that’s smart.”

Zack Snyder:

“We were just like, ‘Okay, look. We’re not making a three-hour movie. I mean, even I didn’t want to make a three-hour movie,” Snyder says. “I drove the cuts probably harder than anyone. The studio, they were willing to let the movie indulge pretty hard. But I felt like it’s at a manageable two-and-a-half hours. Let’s also not forget the credits are super long, the end credits. So the movie’s closer to two hours and 22 minutes.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24605:]]

Zack Snyder on Jena Malone, who was cut from the theatrical version, but will be featured in the director’s cut:

“I think we should keep it private, but it’s nothing that’s been talked about,” Snyder says. “She’s definitely not Robin or Batgirl. I’m happy to say that.”

Zack Snyder says other new characters are in the director’s cut:

“There’s a couple, like, Ahman Green, the running back from the Green Bay Packers, he’s in it. And C.T. Fletcher is like this bodybuilder muscle-guru from Compton, this awesome guy. He’s amazing, and he’s in it,” Snyder says. “And then there’s just a lot of these Easter Eggs in the Director’s Cut that I think are gonna be fun for everyone.”

Snyder says something big is in the director’s cut teasing Justice League:

“There’s one giant one that I won’t tell you about yet that speaks to what’s gonna go on in the greater Justice League universe,” he says.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24604:]]

Producer Charles Roven on R-Rating:

“There’s not a lot of blood in our movies,” he says. “The ratings board also judges their PG-13 and R ratings by what they consider to be a level of intensity and how much that intensity goes throughout the entire movie. There are some pretty intense scenes inBatman v Superman, and if they went on longer and had that same level of intensity, that might cause the ratings board to shift their rating.”

Charles Roven confirms PG-13 rating for Suicide Squad:

“I think right now we’re going for the PG-13. I don’t know that that’s going to materially change,” he said. “We can give that movie the edge that it needs and still maintain a PG-13.”

Batman Vs. Superman Spoilers: Fight, Flash Cameo, Wonder Woman Vs. Doomsday, Darkseid & Robin

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24600:]]

EW.com‘s coverage of Batman vs. Superman offers up some spoilery teasers regarding the Batman vs. Superman fight, The Flash’s cameo, Wonder Woman battling Doomsday, the potential Robin, and even Darkseid.

Check them out:

Zack Snyder offers a partial description of the Batman Vs. Superman fight:

The director becomes animated as he reenacts their big knock-down, drag-out battle. “Superman doesn’t have to be as much of a chess player as Batman,” says Snyder. Superman has might on his side, but before the fists start flying, we see an armored Batman placing various traps in an abandoned stockyard, then walking along and driving a Kryptonite spear into the ground. “He paces it off,” Snyder says. “Then when he throws Superman, the spear is right there. So you’re like, wait a minute, did he [plan] every bit? He know every move?”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24599:]]

The Flash cameo is revealed, which also hints that the Batman nightmare sequence with Darkseid might be real (as in possibly happening in the future or another timeline):

The film is laced with dream sequences for both Batman and Superman that hint at dangers to come – including the possible appearance of DC’s galactic ultra-villain Darkseid. The Flash (played by Miller) appears in one such nightmare of Bruce Wayne’s, delivering a cryptic message to the Dark Knight.

Fans will have to debate whether it was really a dream, or maybe the kinetic hero breaking through time-space to deliver a warning. Synder calls this “a giant Easter egg” that he hopes will spawn plenty of online theories. “We had such a straightforward narrative, on one hand, I wanted this other layer of the movie to be complicated and bizarre,” he says.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24598:]]

Geoff Johns talks what he likes about Wonder Woman battling Doomsday:

When she finally wields a sword and her golden lasso later in the film, Wonder Woman shows she not only deals out punishment – she can take it, even after lying low for many decades. (Maybe that’s an accidental metaphor, now that she’s finally being pulled off the shelf and put onscreen.)

Johns points to her climactic battle with Doomsday, a Kryptonian Frankenstein-monster created by Luthor from the remains of Michael Shannon’s General Zod, as one of his favorite character moments. “I love her in the movie. I love when she’s hit by Doomsday and she turns around and smiles, like she hasn’t been in a fight like this in a long, long time,” he says. “She clearly… she missed it.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24597:]]

And the Robin suit in the Batcave:

The trailer features a Robin uniform, covered with Joker graffiti, which implies the Boy Wonder has been killed in a previous story. He’s starting to wonder if he ever really saved anyone – or just made things worse. “He’s projecting his own sense of failure, his own sense of disillusionment, his own cynicism onto Superman,” Affleck says.

But the Robin suit is another example of groundwork BvS is laying for other movies. “We’ll be exploring that,” says Johns, who has consulted on the full slate. “No one says specifically the name ofwhich Robin that is.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves.

Jena Malone Cut From Batman Vs. Superman; Will Be In R-Rated Director’s Cut

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24596:]]

Update: Zack Snyder confirms Jena Malone is not Batgirl or Robin.

It’s learned Jena Malone has been cut from Batman Vs. Superman.

While Malone’s role is currently unknown – some fans think either Batgirl or the female version of Robin – EW.com reports that Jena Malone will be featured in the R-rated director’s cut of Batman Vs. Superman in addition to new characters.

If BvS sounds crowded, it actually got smaller as time went on. The PG-13 movie’s 2 hour 31 minute runtime will expand further with an R-rated “Ultimate Edition” on home video, featuring even more brutal fight scenes as well as additional hints at future films. There’ll also be some new characters, including a secret one played by Jena Malone, who was cut from the theatrical release.

A reason cited as to why Malone and possibly other characters were cut is because they want each character to feel distinct and strong.

“It’s all world-building as much as it is character-building,” he says. “Batman isn’t just a character. He’s a character within Gotham City, with all the iconography behind him and the emotional underpinning of Bruce Wayne and the fight for justice, which is a pretty dark fight when it comes to Batman. And then you have Superman, on the other hand, who has a very different world he lives in and a very different way he operates and in a very different methodology to how he protects people and why he does it. He doesn’t wear a mask. He really wants to be accepted because, quite honestly, I think as a kid he never felt accepted. He never felt like he was one of us.”

With that contrasting psychological dynamic, now try adding four more heroes to the mix. It’s not possible. Not all at once. Not if you want the characters to have any depth. That’s why the theatrical release focuses squarely on the two title heroes, with a secondary motive to leave fans wanting more of the newcomers.

While it might be disappointing we’re not going to see Jena Malone as Barbara Gordon or Carrie Kelley (or another character), the R-Rated Batman Vs. Superman Ultimate Edition is sounding better and better.

Green Lantern also won’t be featured in Batman Vs. Superman.

No Green Lantern For Batman Vs. Superman Or Justice League Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24595:]]

Contrary to the so-called Batman Vs. Superman advanced screenings, now it’s reported Green Lantern is not in “The Dawn of Justice.”

In EW‘s latest coverage of the movie, it’s noted Green Lantern “is not referenced ” in Batman Vs. Superman.

Futhermore, it’s suggested Green Lantern may not return to the big screen for a while.

“[Green Lantern] is an incredible character. He’s actually multiple incredible characters,”  said Greg Silverman, the president of creative development and worldwide production at Warner Bros. “There’s real opportunity there. We didn’t do a great job on that first Green Lantern movie. This is a character who deserves to be treated in the same way that Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are being treated now, which is with great reverence. I guess I can say to the Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us, I think they’ll be really happy.”

So how long will Green Lantern fans have to wait? Possibly until 2019 or after.

“Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out,” producer Charles Roven offered. “So there’s the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.”

WB currently has the Green Lantern Corps movie set for 2020 following the 2019 release of Justice League – Part 2; so we may have to wait until the standalone GLC movie.

It was previously rumored that Dan Amboyer was playing Hal Jordan.

The actors themselves previously confirmed appearances in Batman Vs. Superman, and now it’s again confirmed the Ezra Miller Flash and Ray Fisher Cyborg will be featured in the movie, leading into the Justice League film.

Entertainment Weekly reports: “Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman, and she has a major supporing role in this movie, but there are other characters like Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg who turn up in kind of smaller roles — more cameo-oriented. Now that was done as a way of setting up the fact that all of these characters exist in one shared universe.”

Batman Vs. Superman Tracking For Big Opening At Box Office

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24582:]]

What should probably come as no surprise, the opening weekend for Batman Vs. Superman is tracking pretty big amongst insiders.

THR reports Batman vs. Superman is tracking as high as a $140 million opening weekend – if not more – with low-end estimates stating around $110 million.

Man of Steel opened with $116.6 million back in 2013; The Dark Knight netted $158 million in 2008; TDRK $160m.

The current best opener in the month of March is The Hunger Games with $152.5 million.

Marvel’s The Avengers opened with a $207 million weekend back in 2012; Age Of Ultron had $191.2M.

More than likely, once Batman Vs. Superman debuts on Thursday and Friday, word-of-mouth will affect how well the movie continues to do. If audiences rave about it, it’s possible Batman Vs. Superman could do as well as the Deadpool opener or better ($132.4 million over the three-day Presidents Day weekend; Deadpool’s four-day haul was $152.2 million).

Another bonus for the movie is that it lands during the Holiday break, so kids are off of school, which could give the box office numbers a bump.

Batman vs. Superman could potentially make $300-$350 million worldwide in its opening weekend.

Ben Affleck Never Tweaked Batman Vs. Superman Script

Batman Vs. Superman Fight Scene Clip

Batman Vs. Superman seems to be the movie that the haters love to hate.

Earlier there were reports stating WB execs were worried about the movie and considering replacing the Justice League movie with a standalone Batman movie, which turned out to be nothing but a bunch of baloney.

Then someone created a Twitter smear campaign against the movie, which has since been exposed.

There was even a report that Ben Affleck wasn’t happy with the script and changed it – get this – while on the set of Batman Vs. Superman in costume.

However, it turns out all to be nothing more than a Marvel fanboy’s fabrication.

Ben Affleck spoke with the French magazine Premiere and offered none of the Chris Terrio script has been altered (you can also check out some images of Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot from the magazine below).

Here’s the blurb (translated via Bing):

This script is awesome, there was not a line change in the dialogues. And I can tell you that it is rare.

Batman Vs. Superman Spoilers Includes Lex Luthor, Doomsday & Wonder Woman

Batman Vs. Superman “Here I Am Spot”

Check out the Batman Vs. Superman covers for the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. In addition, EW.com offered the following:

Ben Affleck on Batman:

“He’s projecting his own sense of failure, his own sense of disillusionment, his own cynicism onto Superman,”

Henry Cavill on Superman:

“[Superman’s] weakness is that he doesn’t want to hurt anyone,” says Cavill. “He doesn’t want to scare anyone, and in that you can take advantage of him. This is someone who is a complete amateur, and he’s facing up against someone who is very well versed in the arts of war.”

Lex Luthor and Doomsday spoiler:

Luthor not only [slight spoiler alert] orchestrates a mass murder aimed at turning the two heavy hitters against each other but also uses some Kryptonian relics left behind from the Man of Steel aftermath to cook up a cosmic mutant Frankenstein— Doomsday, partially built from the remains of Michael Shannon’s General Zod.

Wonder Woman and Bruce Wayne spoiler:

Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) has a major supporting role, with her alter ego, Diana Prince, running afoul of Bruce Wayne as they engage in rival missions to steal some of Luthor’s most disconcerting secrets. Even before she brandishes a sword and her golden lasso, Wonder Woman’s secret identity is pretty badass.

Christian Bale & Morgan Freeman Say Batman Vs. Superman Won’t Beat The Dark Knight (Video)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24574:]]

Ben Affleck has some big shoes to fill as the previous Batman, Christian Bale, was popular amongst the fans as was Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy.

ET caught up with both Bale and Morgan Freeman who offered they don’t think anything will ever be better than their Nolan Batman movies.

“Everyone brings their own element to that — Ben [Affleck] will do that as well,” Bale said about playing Batman“I think the trailers are looking great and I’m looking forward to that.”

Morgan Freeman had his own two cents to add.

“I’m happy for Ben [Affleck], but I don’t know how that’s gonna work,” Morgan Freeman said, who played Lucius Fox for Nolan. “Because The Dark Knight was almost ‘it.’ Pretty much ‘it.’ Did you see Batman Begins? I don’t think you can beat that.”

“Right on for Morgan [Freeman] for saying no one will ever be that, I very much like him,” Bale responded.

Watch the video below.

Update: Bale also talks Batman and Heath Ledger’s Joker.

Batman Vs. Superman opens March 25th.

Batman Vs. Superman is “Epic, thrilling and visually spectacular” Says Henry Cavill

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24573:]]

We all know Superman doesn’t lie, so Batman Vs. Superman should be a good one.

Eonline caught up with Man of Steel Henry Cavill who offered the Dawn of Justice is “epic, thrilling and visually spectacular.”

Though the odds are stacked up against Cavill once again – as he’s set to face off against Batman, Doomsday, Lex and who knows what else – Henry says he wouldn’t change a thing.

“He has all the powers,”Cavill said. “And Superman can’t help but love everyone and wants to do the right thing [and]…you know you have the right guy advising you.”

Henry Cavill was also a presenter at this past weekend’s Oscars where he admitted he was just a little bit nervous.

“I was a little nervous about what to expect when I came here, but it’s so busy and there’s so much going on that you don’t feel really exposed as you do at some of the other events,” Cavill said. “I’m really enjoying this. The energy is fantastic. It’s real good fun.”
